Mountain Town is the sister company of Mount Pleasant Brewing Co. They serve the same (but many fewer taps) beers as Mount Pleasant, although they are brewed at a different facility.
Nice looking place inside, decent sized bar, plenty of seating. This location is more a restaurant than bar. Slightly upscale vibe, yet casual.
We just tried a couple of appetizers, the scotch eggs were great, the calamari so-so. Large menu with plenty of full dinners.
5 Mt. Pleasant beers on tap, none different than at the brewpub. Their IPA was the best choice at this location.
Go to Mount Pleasant Brewing if you want a much wider beer selection, come here if you want a much larger/better food selection.

I walked in with my grandfather and his live in. We sat in the lounge side. It had low lighting and a broke in feel to it. Very nice ambiance. The brewing operation was visible through large glass walls. The first thing I notice was that the beers were Mt. Pleasant Brewing beers. I was under the impression that this was a separate entity. Anywho, I got a sampler. I gotta try them all. They were out of java porter which was a bummer. The beers were adequate. I've had a few from Mt. Pleasant prior to this visit. Actually, I had a black ipa at Whitecaps game but it was not at the brewpub. Beers are only $3.50 a glass. They were $2.50 on Thursday the night we happened to go.
Now the food was great. I had grilled tuna. I got two sashimi grade tuna steaks that were seared on the outside and pink in the middle. Fantastic! Grandpa and lobster tail that he liked so much that he wanted another.
I loved this place, more for the food and the atmosphere. The beer was good enough. Maybe next time I can try a java porter or get a glass of black ipa. It is worth a visit for the food.

I also found it odd that Mountain Town and Mt. Pleasant Brewing co. are owned by the same company and brew the same beers yet they go by different names.
Me and the family ate dinner here last week. It was nothing special, but decent at the same time. The service was really good, the food selection good, and the food was good.
While there I was able to sample 3 of there beers: the stout, the brown, and their IPA.
I like the IPA so much I ended up filling up my growler while there.
My only complaint is while they had a sampler of six beers they would not allow you to buy individual samples.

I find it odd that the beers I tasted at Mountain Town are listed as brewed by the Mount Pleasant Brewing Company. I assume this means they are one in the same as a brewery, but I find it very odd nonetheless. Anyways onto the review.
The brewery has a very nice restaurant feel; very earthy and relaxed atmosphere. The perfect place for a nice family meal or something casual. The food was great and the beer was a lot better than I expected based on the reviews I had read. The service was also wonderful; our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and seemed like she knew enough about the beer, although no one in my party asked. Furthermore, the value (at least with the beer) was very good. A $7.00 sampler came with 6 of the companies 8 brews and the samples were all a lot larger than I am used to (something like 20-24 oz. I believe). This was a nice surprise, considering the typically minuscule size of samplers. Anyways all in all the food was good, the atmosphere was good, and while the food is a bit pricey, I will certainly return to the brew co again.

Ahhh, the hometown brewpub/restaurant. A beautiful place home to some local brew that holds it's own and pairs great with many things on the menu. My favorite is the Hobo's breath, I think. A great red full of flavor. As you walk into the restaurant there is a nice, if not very expensive, wine room. Lots of variety and always a knowledgeable staff member there to assist. The restaurant opens into a bar/eating area that, if follow to the left, takes you by the brew chamber, nicely displayed by large gall doors and windows. Continuing to the left you make your way to the main dinning room adorned in all sorts of old fashion rail memorabilia. Quent. A wee bit pricey, but good food, drink and service. Right of the Chippewa River just outside old downtown. A must stop if in the Mount Pleasant region.

I really enjoyed the one time I ate at Mountain Town. The atmosphere is wonderful and the portion sizes are enormous. Service was somewhat mediocre. Example: my girlfriend at the time ordered a chicken and broccoli alfredo dish sans chicken (she is vegetarian). They brought out the exact opposite thing (just chicken). And then it took them 15 minutes to fix it with no offer of comp anything.
I am much more familiar with their beer which I do purchase regularly by the growler. The IPA and the Stout are both very good. The others are average but hey, its nice to have a thriving little microbrewery in the area at all.

The atmosphere is great. This place was an old train station that was transformed into a brewpub/restaurant. They also have a nice wine room as well. I can't really comment on the food because I didn't eat there. I tired a sampler and I got 6 samples and they were all ok. Nothing rally stood out to me as an amazing beer IMO. The service was very lacking the when I walked in the bartender was busy on her cell phone and I had to wait for her to finish before I was helped. This was just my experience; maybe she has been fired since who knows.

I can't believe I have not reviewed this place yet, it is a must stop for me anytime I travel westward. Housed in an old train station, away from the college area of Mt. Pleasant, this is a beautiful place. Character abounds from the building, the brewing system, and the breweriana throughout the place. Always seated promptly and waited on by friendly servers, the food is good, the Scotch Eggs are a specialty that must be tried. They will kill you with Cholesteral and fat in the long run, but you have to try them. The beers are good, usually 6 on tap, sometimes a bit thin but drinkable none the less.

I visited the Mountain Town Station early on a Saturday evening. The building it's located in is a very interesting old railroad depot. The intererior has been nicely restored. The brewhouse is on display in the center of the depot.
Our server was very friendly and helpful. The dinner menu had many options. Barbeque ribs was the centerpiece, but many steak, fish, and pasta dishes were available as well. I went with a NY strip steak, and was very pleased with my meal.
Mountain Town Station had seven beers available. A light golden, golden, red ale, hefe weizen, brown ale, rasberry wheat, and stout were the choices for my visit. I went with the 6 beer sampler. (the light was the beer not served) The stout was my favorite of the six. The rasberry wheat was the least palatable.
I'd recommend this as a side trip from soaring eagle, as I did. The food was very good, but the beer was mediocre.

I really enjoyed patronizing this brew pub while I attended Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, MI. This establishment is possibly more well known for its food (great steaks and entrees) than for its beer -- which is still quite good. They produce 6 or 7 different brews with 4 or 5 of them on tap at any given time. They make an IPA, wheat beer, brown ale, stout, kolsch, red ale, and another seasonal. The atmosphere is exceptional. Modernly styled and always busy on the weekends (though it is usually a joy to head to the bar for a beer as you wait to be seated). Great place to bring the family, but also nice to come with friends during weekdays for pint specials. Growlers are available. Sometimes in the winter they produce a double bock called "Terminator" that is thicker, darker, and stronger than almost any beer I have had -- recomended for the strong of heart.
