Off the pour the beer is black, no light is getting through this brew! A tan, chocolate head sits on top and has decent retention.

Off the smell, a perfect blend of coffee and chocolate - like a chocolate flavored coffee - greets you.

The taste is creamy, malty, and chocolate-y. O’Fallon adds cocoa powder directly to the kettle while brewing and this creates a smooth chocolate flavor throughout. The beer leaves the tongue clean, but a slight coffee smell lingers in your nose after each sip.

Overall, a sturdy beer.

A - pours a dark brown without much of a head to it

S - smells of sweet cocoa chocolates with a touch of roasted character

T - sweet milk chocolates are mixed in with cocoa flavors to give this a very chocolaty flavor profile. Finishes with a bit of roastedness, but mostly chocolate flavore. Not complex, but delicious.

M - medium to full mouthfeel that goes down nicely

D - this is a really good cocoa stout - much better than the barrel aged version. I feel like this is a desrt beer for those looking for one. This might be my favorite OFallon beer to date.

Nice deep black color. Frothy and creamy tan head with excellent retention and lace.

Plenty of roasted character in the nose. Coffee, dark chocolate and dark fruits.

Initial taste follows the smell although slightly weaker. Some roasted and smokey character. Prunes and figs. Not bad. Then halfway through the drink, the beer turns on your tastebuds and reeks havoc with an awful sour flavor. The finish can best be described as sour milk, horrible!

Lighter bodied, slightly creamy and fairly low carbonation.

The awful aftertaste makes it practically undrinkable unless you have no taste buds. Don't get me wrong, I love stouts and I have tried good cream stouts but this is not one of them. Stay away!

Pours a black color. 1/3 inch head of an off-white color. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of roasted malt, sweet malt, hint of chocolate, slight hop, and a hint of grain. Fits the style of a Milk / Sweet Stout. Mouth feel is smooth and clean, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of slight roasted malt, dry hop, sweet malt, slight wheat, and a hint of acidity. Overall, good appearance, aroma, body, and blend.

I had O'Fallon Cocoa Cream Stout on tap at The Stable. It has a rich dark color and I could immediately smell the chocolate when our server Amy set it down in front of me. I had a distinct cocoa flavor and tasted a bit like coffee. I loved it and I also like Schlafly Coffee Stout, which is odd because I do not like coffee itself. Anything flavored like coffee I tend to like. I will say that there was a powdery aftertaste but hey, you just drink quicker than, right? This is definitely a beer worth seeking out and trying. It's not for everyone but if you like stouts then be sure to order one up.

Had on tap at International Tap House. Pours jet black with a finger of light brown head. Smells like mocha coffee. Taste is chocolate upfront with strong coffee undertones but finishes like an average light stout. Fairly light bodied mouthfeel. I could drink quite a few of these. I'm rarely disappointed by O'Fallon beers. This one I will enjoy again.

Had this one on tap at Newstead Tower Pub.

It poured very dark almost black with little had left on top.

Smell was not very strong, but I got a hint of chocolate.

Taste has the cocoa flavor and a little roastiness. I thought the mouthfeel was a little on the thin side, especially on the end. Drinkable beer, just not quite as much going on here as I expected.

Appearance: Arrives at the bar with an almost black color and a neat tan cap that declines to a ringlet, leaving a few strands of lace

Smell: Smells like an espresso

Taste: A lot of lactose up front, with the bitter coffee flavors taking a while to arrive; after the swallow there is a fruity element to the bitterness that is also very acidic; lots of coffee and cream at the finish

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation

Drinkability: Unlike any other coffee beer, this one has some real bitter coffee flavor and is well worth trying when it appears on tap

Reviewed 11/16/2008 (Tap @ The Stable, St. Louis, MO): Pours a dark black body, with a creamy brown head that is lasting. Okay lacing. Chocolately, coffee aroma, roasted, but not very strong. Watery taste. Bitter, with a dark chocolate aftertaste. Better coffee taste as it warms up, not as bitter. Somewhat creamy mouthfeel. Some alcohol hotness as it really warms up. Not my thing.

A - Poured a dark brown, almost black color with a small, foamy, caramel-colored head. It left some trails of lace.

S - It smelled of chocolate, caramel and toffee. A slight floral aroma.

T - It tasted of sweet chocolate and some light caramel notes. A slight coffee-like taste emerges later.

M - It was soft and smooth. A medium-bodied beer.

D - This is a very nice stout. Easy-drinking and very tasty.
