O'Fallon 5 Day IPA has a dark amber color. The smell has malt and fruit. The taste is bready malt and some hops,The fruit and malt have taken over the hops in this one. Not very bitter but nice flavors. The body is medium and finishes dry. Not quite my style of IPA but a good one.

A: Pours a clear golden amber with a feathery white head that quickly recedes into a thin mousse. While the head retention is not great, there is a moderate amount of white lacing present throughout.

S: Malty aromas of caramel, biscuits, crackers, and toffee are first to present themselves, but are chased by scents of herbs, lemon, lime, grapefruit, and pine. The smell is unique. In some ways, this beer comes across as a huge English bitter, albeit with the pine and citrus scents one would expect of an American IPA.

T: Well integrated notes of cream, biscuits, crackers, toffee, caramel, herbs, grass, pine, grapefruit, lemon, lime, and bitter orange wash across the palate. The finish is long and somewhat sticky with notes of caramel, lemon, lime, and biscuits being most prevalent.

M: Very creamy and smooth in the mouth, but also displaying a tendency toward dryness. I was afraid that the relatively heavy and complex malt bill would lend a sticky, cloying quality to this beer, but it doesn't. Carbonation is gentle, but not overly timid. Very drinkable. This goes down really easily on a hot day. It is almost impossible to tell that this beer is over 6% abv.

O: This is a very unique IPA and definitely presents a different take on what has become one of the most cliched styles in the New World. I really like the fact that the brewers at O'Fallon emphasize an integration of malt and hop flavors. All around, this is just a super fun, likable, approachable take on the style and would be great for people who are either new to IPAs or who are almost entirely burnt out on them.
