2014 - 9.4% abv. Drank this one at about 60-some degrees.
For a reason that I cannot recall I missed the 2013 release of this. Glad to get another chance to have a go at it.
This beer pours very dark. It's about as dark a shade of brown as you can get. The head was very lively and cream colored at first, but it fell to nothing rather quickly.
To be quite frank, the first thing that struck me about the nose was how much it smelled like blue cheese. Thankfully I like blue cheese. That fragrance, as minimal as it is, seems to come and go. The beer tastes sort of like a maple syrup thing a bit. The rest of the profile is fairly boozy. Smooth feel. It's a nice drinker, but it seems a little young...for an old ale. Oh the irony. I will rest on my other bottle for a bit longer and see how it ages. (I am thinking at least a year would do it better. Maybe even two to three.)

This one pours a moderately dark brown color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like wet oak, bourbon, raisin, chocolate-covered caramel, and slight oxidation.
This feels a touch oxidized, but it honestly works, as it adds a nice musty sweetness that plays well with the boozy caramel malt tones. There's some breadiness, and a big oak character, along with some light bourbon. This works well for me.
This is medium bodied, with a nice silky mouthfeel, and a surprising level of drinkability for the heft of this one.
I think this is my first beer from Roundabout, and it's an impressive one.

Pours a deep raisin brown, thinner head but it lasts awhile. Aroma is bursting with warm bourbon goodness (caramel, vanilla, oak) that compliments the toffee malt of the old ale wonderfully. Taste follows that same path - just great expression from the barrel without dominating the base beer, balanced and blended expertly, just hits all the classic notes (toffee, rum raisin cake, warm chestnut, bourbon caramel) with nary a flaw. Super-underated, if you like old ales seek it out.

Tap at the brewery, 2017 vintage
Little head, clear but darker ruby color
Nose big barrel, toasted and buttery oak, bourbon barrel juice, sweet malt, cocoa, caramel, toffee, so much buttery oak and barrel bourbon
Taste big sweet mal, buttery oak, sweet bourbon, candy, bourbon barrel juice, caramel, vanilla, toffee, dark fruits, little warming booze, esters, candy notes, soooo much awesome.
Mouth is big thick richer, some warming booze, decent carb
Overall incredible, I want to freeze this in the winter and skate on it, then thaw it again in the spring and drink it again.

UPDATE: opened a 2015 (2016) bottle,on 12/17/17. Beer honestly did lose a little carb. The body therefor became sloghtly more dense, but not syrup. The booze on this one wasn't as masked any more. Still had vanilla and stuff, but was HOT. interesting to have, the two comparisons.
This year's version. Three barrel blend. Also had the single barrel on nitro. Both were delicious. Remids me of a mix of Backwoods Bastard and Old Stocke Ale. hidden gem.

2014 Bottle
Deep Amber in color and clear on the edges with no head and minimal lacing.
Nose is malt, sweetness, raisins, and a bit of booze.
Taste is similar to the nose with sweet malt, caramel, raisin, and a oaky / bourbon like finish.
Mouthful is medium and a bit thin with low carbonation and lingering finish that is slightly warm.
A nice take on an old ale. The nose and taste are quite nice. Very sippable. The drawback is the mouthful but don't let that stop you. Great for a share, try it out.

On tap at the brewery
A. Clear amber red with a finger of white soapy head.
S. Toasted oak, sweet malt, caramel, cherry, spicy rye.
T. Sweet and smooth rich malt, nice boozer quality that's mild.
M. Chewy and clingy but smooth and rich, goes down so easy.
O. Really great old ale, smooth and rich
