Unimpressed by the licorne legende i had at the Taverne karlsbrau at republique in Paris. Not much to say for itself, the beer was brough in a standard pilsner glass. Very pale straw toned and translucent, with a small fading head that really gave off hardly any smell other than a dry grainish feel.

Flavour less impressive so, a very discrete and unsweetened malty taste with a very mild bitter ending. Nothing more, nothing less. Medium body and light carbonation. A standard pale lager, without much to say for itself. Avoid.

This is the default beer on tap at a student dive in the town where I live in northeastern France, which also happens to be the most popular bar in town. The big draw is the cheapness of both the beer (€2) and potential sex partners (even less than €2).

A: Sudsy head, whatever's left of which by the time you get back to your table is thoroughly unrewarding.

S: Weak, but strong enough that you know you don't want it to be stronger. Hints of low-grade pilsner, and of a sweaty palm that's been holding nickels.

T: The kind of thing I'd expect to find back home in 30-can cases.

M: Strong carbonation, strong aftertaste.

O: Even at the lousy bar, where the clientele isn't all that choosy, you'll often see people adding Picon or bitters to make this beer more pleasant. As an added reward for drinking it, in any case, you will likely get a headache the morning after you drink it (yet, not much of a buzz right after). have fun

A very average beer. It claims to be a Pilsner but lacks the required bitterness for it.
Golden to amber in color it pours a white head that litteraly dissolves in seconds. Hardly any smell, a little bit of malt maybe.

The taste is rather disappointing. Sweet malt flavour dominate the palate. Not enough bitterness to balance it nicely and hardly any hop characteristics. I can taste some sourness.

This beer is not worth your money! It is very mediocre and can not emphasize anything that will make it stand out.

500 ml bottle from supermarket in Nice

Pours clear golden with very fizzy head that is gone in 3 seconds, very effervescent, looks like yellow soda drink. Aroma reminds me of pure apple juice - fruity and sweet malt, quite strange aroma I would say.

Taste is similar - sticky and sweet malt with short bittery bite and more lemony bittery aftertaste. Mouthfeel is above medium, but it is kind of cloying, sticky feeling.

Overall, it is a bad beer. Plain and simple.

Had this on tap at Hall's Beer Tavern, Paris, March 2006...

Poured a clear light golden yellow colour... Slightly off white head poured quite foamy and faded to thin layer...

Aroma - Very light maltiness. Some sweetness, cinnamon notes, salty, corn, some lemon citrusy hints...

Taste – Light sweetness, some maltiness and some light hops. Some creamy citrus notes... quite bland...

Feel - Quite dry with slight sharpness. Light bodied. Pretty drinkable...

Overall - A very average beer... worth a try maybe once....
