Poured into an Elysian snifter. Pours a very dark brown, appearing black in the glass. A fine two finger light brown head with great retention and massive lacing. Aroma of dark toasted malt, faint caramel malt, coffee and chocolate. Flavor of nicely melded toasted malt, chocolate, light charred coffee, dark dried fruit. Sweet at first, finishing drier with more toasted malt, mild hops and coffee in the finish. Faint cookie esters in the aftertaste are a nice afterthough. A slight fruity sourness moves this into Baltic porter territory. Medium bodied with a hint of creaminess. A very nice, almost understated porter that really has more going on than it appears at first because the flavors are well integrated. Pleasant to drink and nice lingering after flavors to favor. I like this a lot.

11.2 oz bottle served in a Belgian snifter.
Pours with a thick, dark brown body that produces a large, light brown head. Opaque. Decent lacing.
Aroma: A bit odd. Fruity with hints of sweetness. Partially hidden alcohol.
Flavor: Also a bit odd. Overly sweet up front even though it's mildly bitter by the aftertaste. Partially hidden alcohol. Dominated by raisins and other dark fruit notes, with dark roasted grains and burnt toast appearing in the finish.
O: while I didn't like this much it is worth trying.

Poured into a tulip glass. Pours a dark brown, no light shines through the glass, even the edges of the glass are dark. Big light brown to tan head that remains high in the glass, about and inch and a half. The nose is sweet, bitter chocolate, some tart to sour smells are apparent. The first sip is thick and syrupy, viscous mouth feel, sweet malt, chocolate, and bitter. There is definitely a little sour bite to this beer. Tiny bubbles cover the top of my glass, slowly they break apart leaving a patchwork lacing on the glass. As this beer warms you begin to find the dark cherries, perhaps the sourness of the beer compliments this. More sweetness and chocolate notes, very malty. This beer doesn't seem to fit the Baltic Porter style at least as defined in the U.S. . It lacks any noticeable lager characteristics, and feels more like a stout than a Porter.
