Among the mythical characters living in Fairyland, some are more unusual than others. Malcolm, for example, is different because of his accent and his kilt: when it comes to beer, his favourite is Mc CHOUFFE. The delicious flavours of aniseed, liquorice and toffee tickle his taste buds. If you listen to him, he will boast of its ruby sparkle, its smooth bitterness and its strong character, worthy of his native Scotland. Although robust, Mc CHOUFFE goes down as easily as LA CHOUFFE.

Poured into a wide mouth, grip shaped goblet: color is brown, slight haziness, head is tan with fine bubbles, presents less than a finger thick, linger top remains with spotty lacing.
Smell is malt, bread, clove, phenols, dark fruit.
Taste is more malt and bread, spicy notes of clove and allspice, phenols, dark fruit, some molasses.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitter/spiciness.
Overall an excellent malty/spicy ale - nuance in the spice with some softening with warmth.

-Duvel Tulip.
-Murky brown mahogany. Medium lacing
-Phenolic-clove/bubblegum, allspice, overripe banana, fig, and tart Belgian burgundy.
-Fig, sultanas, dark dried fruits, Good n plenty. Spiced Banana nut bread, bitter, tannic walnut skins. Bittersweet, almost burnt caramel. Slightly sweet in the beginning, less in the finish then partially dry, pinot like finish.
-Light/medium body. Medium/med-heavy carb. Smaller bubbles.
-Smart to market this as a Belgian brown as it Blurs the line between a dubbel and a quad. Smelled like a spiced Flanders. Almost thought it was soured. Hits all the classic BDSA notes without being too solvent-y. Enjoyable enough.

1/20/24 Poured from a bottle purchased from the Washington Beer Store.
Look..... Thick foamy head they disapated quickly leaving lacing. Beautiful auburn.
Aroma ... Brown bread, allspice, brown sugar, plum.
Taste... Oh, wow. Malty sweet. Flavors follow aromas. Iron. Banana, dark fruits.
Smooth with slight zing. Can detect the alcohol.

From the bottle, it pours a slightly hazy brown color with a very nice light tan head that slowly dissipates. The nose gets some caramle, yeast and roasted malts. The mouth gets the same.

330 ml bottle poured into a Spiegelau wheat beer glass.
Pouring a slightly hazy caramel brown with a large off-white head that leaves lots of sticky lace. The full nose features yeast aroma, bread, clove and dark sugar which well represents the rich malty sweet flavor with just enough bitterness for a balanced finish. Medium body with a soft overall feel. Very enjoyable and it drinks easy.

I get the toffee and dark fruits in the aroma for certain, as well as a bit of banana. The body has some thick toffee and chocolatey malt, with a bit of spice on the side. A herbaceous, Belgian take on a good brown ale.

Relatively clear mahogany, big off-white head, excellent retention, rings of lace
Caramel malt and some dark fruit aroma, just a bit of banana and spice
Banana and spice more pronounced, toasted bread, caramel, raisin flavors
Heavy bodied, good carbonation
I fucks with it
