Another garage-door brewpub in the Miramar light industrial are. Maddeningly hard to find, even with the modern technology. But there it is, at the end of a glowing tunnel of more garage doors with a giant eucalyptus towering in the mist. If you can find White Labs, you're in the neighborhood. With the wind from the right direction, what a Wild Yeast brew they could make here!
The had a dozen beers on tap with big, informative printed placards on the wall giving you the particulars of each. Another chalkboard shows the "first brewed" date of their last 20 beers. The selection is slightly on the English side, but plenty of variety: Extra Pale, two Witbiers, Scottish, English Summer Ale, ESB, two IPAs, a Black IPA, two Stouts, an English Brown, a Coconut Porter, and a Smoked Pale ale. A Saison in the works.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good all the brews are. I particularly liked the ESB. Everything I tasted was on the restrained and more sophisticated than the average San Diego brew joint. They have tasters, with 8 oz pours being available as well as pints. Your choice of 32 oz and 64 oz growlers to take home.
The garish flourescent ceiling tubes from the garage supply store shed a harsh light on the interior, though with the outer space theme I guess you'd have to say they have no atmosphere. However, they do use an unusual and tasty grade of mini pretzels for free distribution. Comfortable chairs and tables, and a jolly bar on a Friday night, open til 9 p.m. The brewer himself was serving and they're happy to discuss ingredients and ideas. A delightful surprise, and I'm hoping to see how other like their brews.

Fourth stop with MYWIFE! on our Anniversary Brew Tour. Located in Mira Mesa "furniture world" neighborhood (near White Labs / Alesmith / etc.).
A: Looks and feels like a nano-brewery - back of industrial building complex with garage opening up to parking lot. Narrow, long, tall ceilings with a bright red backsplash wall behind the tiny bar. Bar area with some stools and a handful of circle top tables. Pretty bare bones and what you would expect from a brewery that just opened. Chewbacca poster really tied the room together. A few people tasting and conversating.
Q&S: About 10 beers on tap (all in house) shown on chalk. A couple standards (IPA / Stout) and the others were all over the place - Saison / Wit / Porter / Scottish. Made for an interesting and flavorful tasting. Enjoyed the geeky names and the beers themselves were all solid quality.
S: Brewer / founder was serving which was awesome. He looked the geeky part (in a good way) and was fun to chat with about their beers and the origin of the names. Ask about the "Red Shirts." His female minion was there and friendly as well. Good vibe.
Overall - Great little hole in the wall for hopefully an up and coming brewery. Excited to see what creative things they brew up and draw up. Since it is near some of the other "bigger" craft brewers I suggest checking them out.

Stopped in here this past Saturday (7/27/13) during their Christmas in July event. They had 13 beers on tap, with name, style, ABV on cards on the wall behind the bar, along with about a 3 member staff, including the owner/brewer pouring. Ranging from XPA, Porters, Stouts, etc.
While only their briefly, and no stainless steal fermentors in the place (small plastic ones) I had my intital doubts, but there was a decent sized crowd given the size of the place, and that it's fairly new seemed promising. However, I think for the most part I had no pre-conceived notions of the place, went it with an open mind, and let the beers speak for themselves.
The coconut porter was quite nice, as was the coffee oatmeal stout. Our group was rather large, and had limited time, but we picked up a few growlers to take advantage of the deals at the event and opened a few on the bus. The consenus was they were all fairly complex, with no noticeable defaults, impressive for an upstart. The sheer amount of beer they already had tapped was also of note as well., 13 taps.
Picked up a glass, since it was a pretty nice, medium sized, thicker snifter for $5. A spot worth watching, though they are definetly a nano right now, and it will take time for them to grow in the stiff competition in San Diego, but based on the beers they have, and if enough people try them, seems they are off to a good start.
