Pours a super clear golden straw color, perhaps a slight touch of toasted straw. The white head was minimal, settled into a light straw.

The aroma is very very light. I pick up some light grain and an adjunct sweetness. It doesn't smell bad, just doesn't really smell like anything. No pilsner characteristics.

The taste is of light grain and a corn like sweetness. A bit of a metallic twang. No hop flavor whatsoever. This seems to be Beck's take on an American macro lager. The traditional Beck's at least has a bit of a grassy hop flavor, this has nothing. It does have a smooth flavor as advertisted but I fear what this would taste like if warm as the adjuncts would pop through. On a plus side it does not have that skunky flavor to it.

The feel is light to moderate, actually has a bit of body to it. The carbonation is quite crisp, burns just a tad. Very sweet on the palate, would be slick if not for the carbonation.

A big ole adjunct bomb. Yeah, they smoothed out the beer but it sacrificed whatever flavor the traditional Beck's had. I would much prefer the traditional Becks as it has some resemblance of a german pilsner.

Poured from a 16 oz. can. Pours a golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some grains, not much going on. Taste is crisp, light, some grains, slightly sweet, a bit on the mild side. Feels light in the mouth and overall this is a mediocre beer.

This is a pale yellow beer with a thin head and lower than expected carbonation. The beer has a cereal aroma and very faint spicy hops. Mediocre smell and uninspiring appearance. The taste is more appealing....sharper, spicy, a little sweetness....faint malt....clean and crisp. Thin mouthfeel. Macro lager, average at best.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle. There is a number on the label that reads 12363-SX23. US Brewed. Tried on January 27, 2013.

It pours a deeper golden yellow than some lagers with a foamy white head that builds up and fizzles down to a ring. But the ring remains.

Aroma of subdued malts, bread, yeast, and a slight hop zing. Overall about what one would expect for this style.

The body is light to medium but generally smooth.

The taste begins with the bready malts but it does not take long for the clean, crisp sapphire hops to kick in on the tail end. Not much of a lingerer. Fairly easy to drink.

In some respects I would liken this to a slightly bolder Bud Light Platinum.

The sapphire from Beck's is a smoother version of Beck's regular. The beer pors a golden clear with fuzzy white head that settles quick and does not leave a lace. The smell is very tame, basically nondescript. The taste was a smooth well balanced pilsner. The sapphire hops do not have the same grassy boldness of saaz hops. The mouthfeel was medium body with good carbonation. Overall it is a very nice smooth pilsner.

Sapphire is a very clear pale gold, very bright. The pour brings up a nice pure white head close to 2 fingers in height. Retention isn't bad, as it falls in one stage to a full finger then, within a couple of minutes, to a thinnish foam. It only leaves a modicum of spotty lacing.
The aroma gives off some grains under a sharp, tart/sweet sort of fruitiness with a bit of pale, dryish malts and even a touch of floral character, presumably from hops. In the flavor, this is probably a beer I'd pinpoint blindly as a Euro pale lager. I can see it as a macro attempting a pilsner. What I can't see it effectively as is a hoppier German pils. Hops are very light, almost nondescript. There's a bizarre mix of sugary flavors coming in through the middle.
The mouthfeel isn't particularly clean. It's got a bit of slickness to it right off the bat, though there is a crispness as well. Smoothness comes out just at the beginning and fades off. The longer the sip, the more a somewhat numbing, tingly alcoholic touch hits the roof of the mouth and the back of the throat and tongue.

12 oz bottle with undecipherable code rather than a clear date. Thumbs up for the nice extra dark bottle.
Pours a crystal clear golden color with a fragile and thin white head. Large bubbles rising through the beer suggest artificial carbonation. The aroma is a rather light mix of malts and hops that suggest cereal and over-cooked vegetables, The flavor is notably better than, but too much like, a light lager. Very smooth, light body with good (medium) carbonation.

O: Flaws of omission in this fairly well-crafted lager create a smooth, easy drinking beer that's lacking in both flavor and aromatics.

Poured from bottle into a pilsner glass

Appearance – Pours a golden amber color with a big thick and creamy white head. The head fades slowly to leave a decent level of lacing.

Smell – The aroma is mainly of a bready nature mixed with some light hops of a herbal nature. Mixed with these aromas, there is a slightly papery smell with only the lightest hints of any sweetness.

Taste – The taste starts out much sweeter and consisted to be much sweeter then the nose let on. It began with flavors of bread and corn malt with a strong sweet flavor of corn syrup and some lighter caramel. These flavors were pretty consistent to the end where some light bitter grassy and herbal hop flavors come to the tongue leaving a mainly sweet but very lightly hopped flavor to linger on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is a little on the thicker side for a lager style of 6 % abv with a carbonation level that is a little on the lower side. For all the sweet flavors and light hop it may have been better suited with a higher more exciting carbonation and a tad thinner body.

Overall – Tastes very much malt liquor like, but without the kick and at much the higher price (and not available in a 40 or tallboy size as any appropriate malt should be). Stick with the classic malts if you are considering this; this is not really a winner for the price.

Beer pours a true gold color. Got about a half-inch of medium-coarse bubble top, but it's fading fast. Some cascade action to the surface is visible.

Very mild malty aroma of sweet cracker and metallic notes. Light grassy Noble hop brings a touch of old dried herb. Not much else.

Ouch. Sweet pale grains are lagered smooth, but the flavor is off. Light bitterness isn't enough to chase away flavors of cooked corn. Barely any hop note. Slight grassiness that's scuffed off by a ringing chime of rosewater alcohol in the finish. That finish lasts way too long, too.

Medium-thin, but with a strange glazed feel. Carbonation is disappointing. Not a great drinker.

Totally boring. Can't define these Sapphire hops from this beer. Warning: Not to allow to warm, drink ice cold.

Pours out a really clear off-yellow to a slight amber with 1/3 finger of white suds.
Smell is slight hops and lemon peel. Some sugars in the nose.
Taste is bland and mellow. Aftertaste of lemon rind and alcohol.
Mouthfeel is just a tad sticky and fairly boring.
Overall this isn't much of a beer. I think it's budweiser in a black Beck's bottle. In fact the bottle says St. Louis , Mo.

12oz bottle purchased at Market Basket. Pours a light yellow body with little to no head to speak of. Bready malt shares the aroma with a note of spicy continental hops. Spicy herbal hops share the flavor with bready malt. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Not bad. The hop flavor, while far from robust, gives you a good sense of what sapphire hops can bring to the table.

In my pilsener:

A: clear golden colored body giving a one finger foamy white head appeared and moderately died to a film coating the top of the body. Streams of carbonation were seen rising at a moderate pace. Some spider web lacing was seen around the edges of the pilsener.

S: malts up front combined nicely with some toasty grains and light peppery hops. Corn adjuncts came out as the beer warmed

T: sweet yet bitter in different aspects combining the previously mentioned flavors

M: light with some moderate sharpness, but not overbearing

O: this is not a bad German pilsener. I'd probably have this again, more likely in the summer months. I'd definitely have this over their regular flagship brew.

Beck's Sapphire (poured into a whiskey glass) has a thin, off-white head, a clear, somewhat bubbly, golden appearance, and minimal lacing left behind. The aroma is faint, but sweet barley malt is detected. The flavor is of sweet, brown bread, barley malt, and an unusual hop bitterness, which is difficult to describe. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Beck's Sapphire finishes dry, clean, crisp, and refreshing. Overall, this is another winner from InBev, and I think it is delicious.

12 oz. bottle poured into a snifter. At fridge temp.

Pours out a very clear light golden color with a small layer of white that holds some decent retention, but no real lacing to speak of.

Mineral lager yeast with maybe a touch of sweet lagery grain.

Mineral water like lager yeast with some sweet generic grain flavor. The slightest hint of lemongrass hop, maybe im even imagining that. Actually more sweet than bitter.

Light bodied, but not watery. Carbonation about right for the style.

I thought this would atleast have some sort of hopiness seeing as its brewed exclusively with sapphire hops, but unfortunately it smells and tastes like most cheap adjunct lagers. I'll stick to prima and urqell when I'm caring a pilsner, which isn't too often.

A. It is crystal clear gold color with some streams of bubbles coming up through the middle. It has a thick foamy white head that dissipates quickly. Little lace.

S. Slight metallic scent.

T/M. It has a grape taste. A mild hop feel. It is smooth. Underneath it is a sour metal taste. It has a light body.

O. No real flavor or kick. Tastes like a smoothed out Becks. Nothing special here.

A crystal clear, light straw color with no noticeable head.

Sweet honey malts with a bit of grassy hop and maybe some corn.

A sweet honey flavor with a bit of grassy hop and then a sweet lingering grain flavor in the finish with a touch of bitterness and alcohol.

Light and watery. Easy to drink. Matches the style.

Below average pilsener. Seems like the goal was to make a cheap lager with higher than normal alcohol.

Pours a brilliant golden color with a foamy one inch ivory head that dissipates slowly, leaving no lacing.

Minerals, cracker-like malt, grain, and floral hops form the aroma.

Grain, lightly skunky character, lightly toasted, bready malt, and a little grainy sweetness form the flavor profile. The skunky character is a little odd. Not sure if it's the hops or what.

Body is moderate, with moderate carbonation, light astringency, and a touch of alcohol warmth.

Eh. Grain, lightly toasted malt are good, but the skunky character is offputting.

Picked up a 12oz single for reviewing purposes only. A steady pour raises a nice fluffy white collar...fades slowly. A nice clear light gold underneath. Finely carbonated. Nose - unimpressive domestic lager aromas: sweet malt and a little sourdough thrown in. Average mouthfeel for a light lager, the taste parallels the nose, mainly sweetness with scant hop bitterness. One dimensional. Lightly fruity yet ersatz finish, glad I didn't put out for a sixer. Noticed it says "product of USA"...'nuff said. Pass.

Ok got sucked in by the super bowl add, got a can or two from the local gas station.

Pours a golden hue, white head that maintains well for awhile.

Aroma of grass, malts and grain.

Taste of grain, not much can.

Mouthfeel if soft, carbonated with a very low hop.

Overall, an ok brew to sample, they could of done better.

I poured this disappointing beer into my tumbler at 45 degrees. The beer was straw colored and poured a nice head at first. However it did not last long. The beer had a srange taste like apple cider and was just flat tasting. I don't think much effort went into this new beer and you could tell. I will not buy again.

Appearance: Weird carbonation, like soda water or Bud Light. Maybe a shade darker than regular Beck's, but just maybe.

Smell: This really does smell like absolutely nothing. Some dry hay only.

Taste/Mouthfeel: A bit of lemon peel. Less malt and more hops than regular Beck's. Decent crispness in the mouthfeel, but the bitter lemon overwhelms.

Overall Drinkability: About what I expected. Should be sapphire, but really fool's gold.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, I didn't see a bottled date. For some reason I was expecting this to be dark, instead its a crystal clear light yellow color with a long lasting white head. The smells are of light crisp grass smells. The feel is medium light. The taste isn't what I like, a light crisp hops, mild malts, not every appealing.

12oz bottle, brewed in St. Louis, MO. Golden with excellent clarity, frothy white head holds good retention. Aromas are lager yeast, grassy hop, very faint pilsener malt. Tastes are oddly floral & fruity, earthy, grassy, sweet, no sharp finish as expected with a pilsener. Body seems like it's actually fuller than it should be, it's medium & creamy. Overall, I had a hard time with this one. Doesn't have much for pilsener qualities, odd flavors. Not good at all.

16 oz. tallboy into a pilsner glass.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden amber color. To be honest I wasn't even sure what style of beer this was going to be but the color is thankfully a few shades darker than the straw yellow I was imagining it would pour. Two fingers of soapy bone white foam. Rising carbonation.

S - Lots of cereal grain sweetness with a touch of grass. Pleasantly neutral.

T - That cereal corn sweetness with a bit of bready malts and some grass and light floral elements. A tame but lasting corn like flavor that I usually associate with adjunct lagers. Very clean and a bit bland but very drinkable and dare I say, tasty?

M - Light, crisp, and refreshing.

O - Far from being a great pilsner, but the reviews do seem a bit biased against Becks. I actually wound up enjoying this beer and would not mind downing a sixer of these on a summer day.
