12 oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass.
6.0% ABV,

A - Bright golden in color, this clear beer shines with pride and is topped with a towering white head of foam. As the loose bubbles slowly collapsed, light wispy lace was left adorning the glass.

S - If there were such a style as German Adjunct Lager, the aroma of this beer would make it a prime candidate for it's categorization. Grainy pale malt and additives smell cheap and hops seem underwhelming for the advertising push of their existence.

T - From the light smattering of sweet pilsner malts to the abundance of grainy pale malt and adjuncts to the creamed corn finish, Beck's Sapphire tastes cheap. German hops are afoot though, coming in on the back end with some herbal characteristics which greatly helps alleviate the cheapness of the malt flavor.

M - Sapphire's best quality is the fact it strays from going all out effervescent with explosive carbonation like a lot of mainstream lagers. Instead, Beck's Sapphire has a nice smooth (albeit slick) entry into a faintly dry finish with a suggestion of lingering hop bitterness captured on the back end.

O - Beck's Sapphire manages to bring fourth some hop flavor and presence in an otherwise ordinary "import" lager but it doesn't save it from being mundane, like it's awful commercial. This "German adjunct lager" isn't worth any elevated cost above the American swill we've already got here. Probably because it's also not made in Germany. It's made in St. Louis.

Another brew in the 6% ABV category, tried again at this dimly lit establishment, as you should check out my review on its nearest competitor, Bud BC.

I'm going to make this really brief and understandable - this beer tastes like Evian water with a slight hint of effervescence, as this brew lacks carbonation big time. Despite this characteristic flaw, I did enjoy the beer with Shrimps cocktail. A worthy one-time try (at least) - it is slightly better than Bud BC. Bon appetit!

Not too bad with my pizza on Friday night. Lately I have been doing a half and half on a lot of golden yellow beers with different dark beers. I halfed this with a Yuengling B&T and the result was fairly palatable and definitely affordable, $1.00 per bottle from the local grocery for each and for two bucks got the equivalent of an English pint and was fairly happy. Not good out of the bottle but poured it is a much better beer. I would be interested in halfing this with another dark beer, Guiness to start. I think the result would be decent and worth the effort. This is better than B*W* brewed in the same place
.

Not a huge fan of their flagship beer, but it's been a while, so what the heck...indiscernible dating code of 13037...

Pours an effervescent straw color with 2+ fingers of pearl colored head. Scant head retention & lacing,

S: Some perfumy & soapy hops, plus grassyness, cooked cereal shows when warm

T: Follows the nose, a hint of pears, sweat breadyness plus dryness up front. Cooked cereal & soapy hops as this warms, plus more pears & dryness. Finishes with slight citrus hop snap, pears & a bit of breadyness

MF: Light/medium bodied, slight carbonation, pretty good balance. Thins out more as this warms

Not a great pils, but alright. I could see this being an option around here, could do a few before tiring of this. About what I expected

Clear golden color, with a soapy head that dissipates into a thin ring of foam. Lots of bubbles.

Smells musky--almost stale. I get musky grains, with a bit of sweetness. No hops, no bread; just musky grain.

It tastes awful. (And that's coming from a not-picky drinker. So heed my warning.) It has a bland, grainy flavor with some sweetness, which is all perfectly fine...until the end. The end flavor tastes of spoiled, burnt crud from an over-cooked piece of meat. There's a micro hint of bitterness from the carbonation. No bread from the malt.

For eight bucks for a six pack, this is an insult. And I'm not even a picky drinker.

Was offered this at a dinner, never had Beck's before so here's a review.

A: Pours a clear, light, golden yellow color with a 1/4 inch white head that dissipates fast with medium amounts of lacing.

S: Smells of wheat, grains, grass, citrus

T: Tastes alright, just another lager, mellow flavor, grains, wheat, hints of citrus, bit of hops, bit on the sweet side.

M: Medium bodied with medium carbonation, mellow flavor, fairly balanced.

O: Over all, just another lager. It's not bad, its quite alright, I could down a handful of these, they're just alright, worth trying if given but not really worth seeking out in my opinion.

One of the more disappointing beers I've sampled. Been a huge fan of Beck's for a while now, so when I saw a new variety, I was extremely excited to try it. Sapphire hops? Ok, whatever. Never heard of them but I thought I'd try it.

Upon cracking the bottle open, it smelled dank and sour, much like a mass produced cheap adjunct lager. And the taste was just as bad. Very bitter in a bad way, yet very watery. Very dry afterwards. To be honest, it tasted a lot like Bud Light Platinum to me. This beer had no positives, other than being slightly better than most cheap light beers. Won't drink again.
