Beck's Premier Light pours exactly as a light beer should: A very pale, translucent body holds up a finger or so of snow-white foam. The head is denser than one might expect from a beer so light, and manages to stick around little longer, too.
The nose is intriguing. There is no malty character, but the distinct smell of hops promises that this light offering may have more in store for us than the average light lager.
But alas, the beer's appearance and smell prove to its best qualities. The mouthfeel is average, though slightly less carbonation than other beers in the genre makes this one gentler on the palate than one might expect. The light hoppy character promised by the nose is indiscernible in the first sip; the hoppy flavor only emerges in the aftertaste.
In a well-executed light lager, a very light malt produces a crisp, clean, slightly sweet taste. In this case, the absence of malt leaves the beer tasting like slightly floral seltzer water. And so it seems that the problem here is a lack of balance. All the beer needs is a slightly more substantial malty character to support its pleasant but faint hoppy aroma. It should be possible to achieve this without sacrificing the thin, crisp body one expects from these beers.
Still, Beck's Premier Light's mildness and hoppy nose are refreshing enough to recommend it to those of us who enjoy sipping very light lagers on hot summer evenings. The beer is above-average as far as very light lagers go, and as long as you don't let the nose fool you, you won't be disappointed.

No real head to speak of on a straw clear body. Aroma is very mild and is your typical light pale hopless malt nose. Flavor is watery with pale malts and slight bitterness showing up in the finish. Super light body and high carbonation and as refreshing as water. Overall low expectations for which I wasn't surprised or disappointed in the outcome.

Just your average American style light beer
A- Nothing special. Piss with some foam. :)
S- Decent, has some nice smell of hops and wheat.
T- Pretty full for a light beer, very wheaty and full-ish.
M- Not the greatest. Feels dark and plain.
O- Buy this as you would Miller light, Bud Light, or Coors Light.

Becks Light is not a very good off shoot of Becks regular...the beer pours golden clear with decent head and corbonation to start, both which fade rapidly. The smell is grain/barley and pilsner hops. The taste is sharp, pilsner hops strike first, then a slight balance of malt, the aftertaste is bitter. The mouthfeel is lacking because of the very light body, which is good if it is a hot afternoon. Overall it is a better than bud light...average beer.

A: Poured from the bottle into a cold pilsner glass, this beer displays a clear yellow-gold hue beneath a rapidly dissipating white mousse.
S: I gave this one several sniffs and couldn't pick up anything. It smells like nothing, almost like water. I just can't seem to find anything there.
T: Actually, this does not taste as bad as many light beers, but that isn't to say that this beer tastes all that good either. Faint traces of grain husks, mineral water, and grass were all I could detect.
M: Thin, spritzy, and extremely light-bodied. It doesn't feel like I'm drinking a beer at all.
O: It's a light beer; what can one honestly expect? I suppose it might not be all that bad after a day of hard labor, but even then I think I'd stick with something a little more substantial.

I bought a 6-pack of this from Woodman's in Janesville, WI in Summer 2011.
Pours a clear and very pale golden color. There is only bits of a head to it. Scent is that of cheap grassy grains. The taste at least has some flavor to it but not very much. The taste is very grassy and drinks like water. No texture at all and essentially drinks like beer flavored water. The only thing this beer has going for it is that at least it's better than MGD 64.

Appearance - Quite pale yellow. Clear and somewhat bubbly. Soapy white head that quickly dissipates. To style.
Smell - Mild corny, skunky odor. Ugh.
Taste - Not as bad as the smell. However, the flavor is almost indiscernible. Mild corny malt with a watery finish. Dry, if that counts for anything.
Mouthfeel - Watery. Very crisp. Not getting the usual high carbonation.
Overall - I don't want to punish this beer for being of a style I don't much care for. I want to punish it for being quite bad. In short, it stinks and fails to taste like beer.

12 oz bottle. Pale-straw hue with no head or lacing. Aroma is of apple juice, while body is of Sprite. The brew definitely has a taste because it differs from water. Quite a disgusting drink. Easily it is the worst beer I have ever tried. At least I did not buy it.

Pours a pale yellow color, some carbonation, with a small fizzy white head. The nose is grainy, and grassy. The taste is slightly sweet, grainy, and ricy. Light Body, not much going on with this one. Another pretty poor try at a beer, was a drain pour.

The pour was about what I would have expected with a thin amber color to it if you could really call it amber in any way. Lots of fizzy white foam coming up through the bottom of the glass, and reach about an inch before dropping back down and not leaving any bit of lacing what so ever. Aroma is light grains, musky and full of moldy, bready notes. Nothing you would really want to go around bragging about in any way. Clean and crisp, it made for a good water substitute, but again that was about it as it really just had very little flavor to it at all. Wet hay maybe and a light touch of corn, but nothing really.

From a bottle marked: 09.2007-L25669M. I did not look at the date when I bought it. It was in a closeout rack. Now I know why. Still, it pours a very carbonated yellow like it should. The aroma has a skunky maltiness to it but nothing special. The mouthfeel is like water and the taste is bready and grainy. A typical LA.

This is a generic light lager. Had a bit of a skunky smell. There is a watery taste; generally why I'm not a fan of light lagers. Its just really bland. It is drinkable, and is light bodied enough for the beginning beer drinker.
Overall I'd imagine there would be better choices than this.

Foamy white two finger head that dissipated in seconds, leaving little cling lace. Color is a 4 on the SRM beer color chart. Smell is a harsh wet corn and malt. Taste is really bad, flavors of wet grain and skunk. I think I run into a bad bottle and will rate again later. Mouthfeel is very watery. I think I could have another if I were really drunk, but I will not have another until I re rate.

Reviewed from notes. Used to be one of my light beers of choice before being introduced to the wonders of Bell's and Goose Island back in Chicago.
Pours a very light straw color with a moderate white head. Nose is quite faint with some miniscule amount of grassy, floral hops in the background alongside a faint grain presence. Grassy and grainy flavors dominate what is a really, really faint body--you can really tell from the taste that not much went into this brew. Feel is light and prickly. Goes down quite smoothly, and is better than its American comparisons in that it actually would be preferable to carbonated water, at least for me.

Look - medium light straw color. One fingers worth of foam. Good carbonation.
Smell - more of a pilsner-like smell, hoppier than it probably should smell like for a light lager.
Taste - pilsner-like smell didn't follow into the taste. As far as light lagers go, this one seems to have a tinsy bit more character, but not much. Kind of a hoppy tasting water.
Mouthfeel - watery texture.
Drinkability - as with most light beers, you could keep going back to this one in the fridge as much as you want, because the taste and filling quality just isn't there, nor is any kind of complexity. A little better than most light beers I've tried.

I believe it was Travita who shared this wonderful elixir.
The beer pours a very light yellow color with a white head. The aroma is terrible. I get a lot of corn and something that smells like an ashtray. The flavor is just as bad if not worse. Heavy on the adjuncts with no hops at all. Light mouthfeel and medium carbonation. Absolutely awful.

Dieting sucks, and for a craft beer drinker, its even worse. Becks lager is drinkable, so I figured I'd give Becks Light a shot.
A - Pale almost clear color. Not much of a head.
S - Slight Euro skunkiness, but not nearly as strong as what you would expect from a Becks. Grainy and slightly sweet.
T - Think half Becks, half club soda. Very carbonated with a slight saltiness.
MF&D - Watery and lacking any real flavor or characther. I guess it is what it is. Even if your trying to be good while dieting, I'm sure there are better options out there.

Beck's premier light has a crystal clear, golden colored body and a small, bone-white head. Not retention or lacing.
The aroma is very weak. Just a touch of sweetness and not much else.
The flavor is extremely weak and watered down. However, I detect just a bit (perhaps a mirage on the horizon) of what I think is noble hops. A touch of light malt sweetness also. Really, this beer is mostly water and tastes mostly like water. For a light lager it is about what I would expect, but it is still not a great beer even as low alcohol beers go; the few craft brewers that produce the occasional low alcohol beers do a much better job. However, I don't know if any craft brewer puts out a beer with 64 calories.
Mouthfeel is light and fizzy.
You could certainly suck down a lot of these quickly due to the thin mouthfeel, low ABV and low flavor. Think about cutting a light beer with tonic water and then having a chugging contest; that would be some kind of drinkable right?

Poured from a 12 oz. green bottle into a pint glass, this beer pours light straw in color and quite clear. A half inch of foam settles to a surface ring in a minute or so.
Nose of very light grain and hops yet reminiscent of other offerings from Beck's to a degree. Taste follows with light notes abounding, or, at least there. This beer does indeed seem diluted to a degree yet seems comfortable in its own body. It is light and has a brief dry close. Feel exceeds its setup as there is some body there.
Seems as though we need a mini-light for these mini-ABV-brews for the caloric fearful amongst us. Then again, not, just go straight to Low Alcohol beers. Pass me a Bud Light please.
At half the strength of regular Beck's I took the liberty to dilute such in half. This beer surely exceeds that mixture and isn't nearly as watered down as others would imply. Still, a thin beer, yet not unexpected in body.

12 oz bottle poured into an American Tumbler. Best By End 08.2009 64 calories...ok.
A - Clear yellow straw that looks like deluded beer. After the pour there is minimal carbonation rising. The effervescent head fizzed out just as it rose. Nothing left over, no lacing, no nothing to even say there was once a head for even a second.
S - Skunk-bomb with graininess and very light hops. The aroma disappears fairly quickly too. Euro Lager smell but disappears so fast I only got two sniffs out of it.
T - Wow. I can't say I've ever had a more watered-down beer. It really does taste like seltzer water with a splash of beer. Even the beer flavor is only grainy straw with a slightly salty finish. It's honestly not offensive but it's probably the most watered-down beer I've ever had.
M - Slick and light with no body what-so-ever. Fizzy is really it.
D - I wonder if this actually beat Miller to the 64 calorie beer. Either way it's still too much. Water has 0 calories and so should this beer cause water is essentially all it is. Not offensive in any way because there is almost nothing there to create offense.

Pour from bottle into a glass.
About a half of a finger of head which quickly dies. Some good bubble action too. Light golden color. The nose was the typicaly euro-skunk. Taste was bitter but watery in the mouth. This beer started out ok with the look and smell but kind of dies when you drink it. Hey but what do you want for 64 calories and 2.3% abv. A good beer to have if your not drinking for the night!

Green bottle into pint glass.
A: Pale gold. No head, even with a hard pour. Minimal lace. A Coca-Cola has better head retention.
S: Sulfur compounds...probably from the hops. I think I smell malt. Maybe.
T: This is not bad. Really. It's nicely balanced between decent malt flavor and a little hop bitterness in the finish. Nothing is particularly strong or aggressive, but it doesn't taste bad at all. Like pilsner-flavored seltzer water.
M: Seltzer water, but this is slightly less carbonated.
D: Extremely drinkable, great thirst quencher. I didn't notice any serious off flavors, and it goes down easy. Something to drink without thinking about it.

I am grading this beer on a scale, in that, if it said IPA on the side, and tasted like it did, I would give it an "F," but it doesn't, so I am grading based on expectations.
A - Who cares what a beer looks like? - 3
S - I didn't pass out when I smelled it - 3
T -Although not a Becks fan,I think that this stuff tastes good - 4
M - I don't know what this bollocks means - 3
D - Very drinkable, just not a ton of flavor - 5
All you beer snobs, get your heads out of your asses, and rate beers based on expectations. This would be a great beer for a designated driver (2.3 ABV) at a game. The only light beer that I have ever had that was better is Boston Lightship, and that is gone.
I am drinking a Smuttynose IPA as I type this, so can't we all just get along?
