Cicero's is located on Delmar Blvd a couple miles of I-170 in the University City area. There is street parking around as well as a lot attached to the building.
The inside is separated into a bar on the right and more of a deli on the left. The pub side is split level with a pool table and seating around the short bar. On the deli side, there is a brighter color scheme and a view of the kitchen. There is also a beer cooler for brews to go.
The beer selection at Cicero's is decent. There are around 50 beers on tap from brewers like North Coast, Left Hand, New Belgium, O'Fallon, Bell's etc. As for bottles there are over 100 with domestic choices like Boulevard, O'Fallon, Schlafly, Southern Tier etc and imports from Chimay, Duvel, Ayinger and others. Cicero's has a few different samplers available and also runs a "beer school".
Service was good on an early weekday lunch. The server made good recommendations and was kinf enough to bring samples.
The food at Cicero's is pretty good. My teriyaki wrap was tasty.
Overall this is a pretty cool spot to check out in the St. Louis area.

The atmosphere varies depending on which part of the building you are in. I personally like to sit at the bar because the service is fairly quick and I've had some good beer talks with the bartenders. The music venue can be fun depending on what bands are playing, but it's nice to be able to see a band and drink great beer at the same time. Compared to most bars their selection is outstanding. I've always been able to find something exceptional to sip on. The food is pretty good, mostly higher end bar food in my experience, but I haven't eaten there much. I mostly go for the beer and the music, and both are good enough to keep me coming back.

Have been here numerous occasions, and always enjoy it. The beer selection is the best in "The Loop", and the bartenders are more often than not very knowledgable and ready with suggestions.
Atmosphere is so-so, its best enjoyed on a nice summer night from one of their outside tables. Inside dining area is cramped, and the bar area is a little run-down.
Food is not great with the exception of their pizzas, which are tremendous. Stick with that and you'll have a good meal.
Value is good, most pints in the $3-$5 range, and the pizzas are reasonable as well.

We were in St Louis for the weekend. Friday evening and the place was busy and very noisy. Our server was great. Knew the menu and recommended the pizza. My wife had a pasta, she said it was good, but not great. I had a pizza, I would give it 4.5 of 5.0. The meats made it a little greasy, but it was still very good.
For beer, they claimed 53 on tap, over 150 bottles. My choices there was an Arrogant Bastard and an Urban Chestnut STLIPA. Each served in appropriate glassware.
All of this in a family friendly atmosphere, and well-patronized by locals. I will return.

Atmosphere can feel a bit crowded at times, but it's always a good St. Louis vibe. Try and hit this place up in the summer and people watch outside along Delmar. Truly fantastic. Quality can be varied. One summer (I went to undergrad at Washington University in St. Louis, right near the Loop), my friend and I ordered pitchers of Abita Purple Haze on 5 seperate occasions. 3 out of the 5 times, the beer was skunky. My advice is to get a sample of anything on tap that is not a macrobrew and/or immensely popular.
Service is decent, the staff is friendly and accomodating, and most know their beer. The selection is the highlight of this place, and from what I hear, is only getting better. Definately the premier beer bar on the loop (also try Brandt's). Food is hit or miss. Try the seafood pasta and pizza, but stay away from less "traditional" dishes. Value is spectacular, you really can't beat the prices at Cicero's. Do not miss this place if you're a sworn BA in the midst of St. Louis.

Cicero's is a great place if you love craft beer. It's also a great place for happy hour. A group of us from work went there recently and had a great time. Me being the beer geek of the group, well, to the say the least, I was a bit giddy at the selection!
They had around 40-50 taps and had an excellent variety. Stone, Southern Tier, new local breweries like Urban Chestnut, Founders, etc.. a great selection. I would have to assume they had at least 150-200 bottles in their selection as well. I really liked the fact that the bartender would let you sample anything before you ordered it. A great place for the beer lover!
I only partaked in the appetizers since we were there for happy hour and everything was really good and 1/2 price. Wings, mushrooms, the salmon roll, etc.. all good. Some friends got burgers and said they were great.
Service was so-so. At the bar it was great, and if you actually sit in the restaurant or outside it's great. But there is a section of the 'bar' down by the pool tables that had big tables we could push together - they didn't have any wait service down there. You had to go up to the bar and order drinks. Was kind of strange.
But other than that, this place is great. We'll just sit somewhere else next time. I would definitely recommend Cicero's - especially if you are a craft beer lover.

This is a very happening spot near Wash U. on Delmar. The place was packed and hopping on our Saturday night visit here. The on-street parking was tough to find and we had a 20 minute wait for a table. But the entertainment was good, the crowd mixed but primarily college agers, and the food was good enough though a bit pricey.
The food is heavily mixed toward pizza and pasta, both of which were quite good. Service is a bit distracted especially on a busy night. My initial beer order was completely dropped. Thankfully the food order was not.
But Cicero's is more about beer than food, as any good BA will attest. The glass front coolers and taps hold an amazing array of beer. Many Belgians and great craft beers in evidence. You'll satisfy your beer thirst here and then some. One of the best I've yet seen for selection. A must stop for BAs in St. Louis.

A & F - Don't let the Italian in the name fool you. Ciceros is half restaurant (with a lot more than Italian food) and half bar. Being that I live pretty close to this place, I usually go here for beer and not the food. However, the food is pretty good - pretty standard restaurant items. This place is a very relaxed bar with a pretty eclectic collection of people, but I guess that is expected being that it is in the Loop.
Q & S - as with most things in life, quantity does not always equal quality. However, I would say there are 10 taps that are usually very interesting compared to 40 or so other taps. They have all sorts of imports, American, and STL brews to choose from. However, some of the taps are pretty uninteresting, however that's to be expected at a place that doesn't necessarily claim to be a beer bar and beer bar only.
Service - Being that I always order from the bar, I cannot speak on the waiting staff. However, the bartenders are always good with a suggestion when you can't make up your mind and they have yet to steer me wrong.
If you are coming from out of town, I would suggest this place over many others just for the sheer amount different tap selections. The food is good, but nothing spectacular. I would suggest maybe going somewhere else in the Loop for food and ending your night at Ciceros.

Ciceros used to be one of my favorite places in St. Louis. I still try to make it back there whenever I come back home for a visit. Not just for the beer, but for a pizza as well. Im very fond of Jeans Favorite a mixture of sun-dried tomatoes, peppers, and mushrooms.
They certainly have slipped some in taking care of the beer. A couple of the selections I tried today were definitely showing age. Most notably the Augusta Oktoberfest. What they lack in care for the beer, they do make up for in selection. St. Louis is a very German town, and this shows in their beer selection. There were at least 3 beers from Paulaner including Salvator, and a Bock selection. Aventinus was on tap, and a few other selections from Germany too. They dont ignore Belgium (LaChouffe, Delerium Tremens, and Marsedous were all on tap), and they had good representation from England and the states.
The food here is good, the staff attentive (though not beer savvy). Its not the place it used to be, but still worth a visit when it town.

I remembered Cicero's being ranked as the top palce for beer in an old beer guide book I picked up a few years ago so when I randomaly saw the place Friday during lunch time, it was a no brainer to check it out. This place is two places in one. When you walk in, it looks to be a pretty cool bar with a large amoun of taps, nice stage area . . . probably a great place for music.
The upstairs portion doesn't have a feel of a beer joint, except walking by the coolers with tons of different bottles. The beer list looked pretty tempting but went with a lackluster choice that day.
Would definitely like to go again on a weekend night.
