Adaptation Ale is our rotating small-batch IPA series. Brewed once quarterly, Adaptation gives our brewers a chance to explore the near limitless possibilities of our favorite style of beer. No two batches will be the same. Keep an eye out for new releases every January, May, July and October.

Batch 1 is a Black IPA features strong tangerine, orange peel and pine needle flavors and aromas from a heavy dose of Amarillo, Chinook and Centennial hops. Its subtle malt backbone finishes very clean and exceptionally dry.

I'm a big fan of Roughtail.... But not of this beer. I bought a 4 pack and can't finish it.

A wonderful IPA from Roughtail. However, the high price doesn't match the quality. Again, it's wonderful, but not $4 a can wonderful. The reason for this is because there is nothing distinctive about this brew.

Pours nearly black from the pint can with a thin light brown head. Interesting aroma of pine needles and earthy roasted malt. The smokey malt really comes through on the tongue, along with licorice and hops. Medium mouth with decent carbonation. The bitterness lingers a bit. One could describe this as a hoppy porter. This is a very interesting, and good, beer from an up and coming brewery.
