This meal in a mug is now brewed year-round. Generous usage of roasted malt and an array of Carmel malts gives this Chocolate Oatmeal Dry Stout a coffee, maple, smooth chocolaty flavor.

On tap at PizzaPort Solana Beach. Went great with a BBQ bacon cheeseburger pizza on whole grain crust...
This beer came out of the tap with mounds and mounds of dark brown foam. This dark dark brown stout had a smooth noble hop floral aroma with a fainter roast background. This beer tastes way bigger than 5.5%. It's terribly smooth with a firm hoppy bitterness up front. No sour notes. Finishes just slightly dry.
Overall: excellent quaffable smooth stout.

Captain stout was slightly disappointing. It looked rich and beautiful, had a decent head, but lacked in flavor and mouthfeel what I typically enjoy in oatmeal stouts. Not super robust, lacking in mealiness (went down more like a porter), and I didn't detect much in the way of chocolate notes. Not bad, but not excellent.
