When I walked in and when first asked if needed help, told them I was just looking. Was then asked 6 other times if I needed help. Still told was checking out the selection.
Decided to purchase 2 4pks, not individuals, but when rung up, still charged singles prices. Asked about this, and it is their regular policy.
Talked to a few people at the salon I manage just down the road, and found my service was not unique. Also found that they do not honor skunked beer purchases.
Will not be back, can get better service and selection on 44th st.

Atmosphere: The shelves are pretty close together, combine that with a few customers and there can be bit of claustrophobia in this store. The place can be a little...dirty would be the best word I can think of. The floors, shelves, and counters are just a little older, no big deal.
Quality: Siciliano's has a fair amount of cooler space, and then quite a bit of shelf space. The shelves are towards the back of the store out of sunlight, and the lights are pretty dim. A couple different walk in coolers to check out. Everything in the store is mix and match. I have seen some very old IPA's here though.
Service: Always greeted with a hello as soon I walk in the door. After wandering for several minutes I am always asked if I have any questions. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
Selection: For the Grand Rapids area, Sciliano's has an okay selection. Lots of locals and some harder to find stuff. That being said, I have never seen anything there that was super hard to find anywhere else, and they don't bring in a lot of new brews. I know there are some locals I can count on them to have, but most of the time their selection doesn't really appeal to me.

I almost feel bad reviewing this since I had such high expectations for this store and the reviews all shower it in praise.
I walked in with my brother-in-law and was not greeted. Two women were behind the counter just standing…a guy was stocking the beer in the coolers and just kind of looked at us. We later asked him where the “beer cave” was since we were first timers and had no idea, and he seemed somewhat annoyed. Needless to say once I did ask one of the women behind the counter if they had any “special” fun beers they did try to help out.
The selection was solid for a store in Grand Rapids, but nothing special. I really didn’t find any beers I couldn’t in a Binny’s, minus a few Short’s they had (and which every store in this area of Michigan has). I asked if they had a few beers mentioned in prior reviews and they were out of everything it would appear. As stated, it’s not like the selection is bad; however, it does not deserve the praise everyone is giving. Understandably this is a good beer store for a smaller area like Grand Rapids, but again this doesn’t mean it should get 4.5 or 5 for selection. In addition there were dusty bottles and some old “hoppy” bottles.
I did like the fact you could buy singles of everything. That is a huge plus. I walked in expecting to drop a ton of money and walked out with a mixed six pack of Short’s. Prices were okay.

Stopped here after having lunch at Founder's during a brewery road trip.
First impression walking through the door is, "Wow, they sell everything."
They had a great selection of local brews, picked up a lot of Bell's, Great Lakes, Goose Island, and some other, less famous brews. The service was acceptable, if only because I really didn't need any. Which I'm sure they saw after I starting bringing six pack after six pack up to the counter. I also loved that they give a 10% discount on mixed cases, I've only ever heard of doing that with wine.
Overall, a pleasurable buying experience, I can see whey they have the reputation that they do. If I'm in the area again, after I hit Founder's, I'm heading here again.

Doesnt look like much from the outside, but is a treasure trove of assorted beers; mostly local fair, but has the best belgian selection in the area. Is literally a maze of shelves of beer everywhere. Decent prices.
My only concern is that some of the stuff out on the shelves have been sitting there for months if not years and the inside is kept extremely hot (around 70-80 degrees), not the best temperature to store beer at.
Superb selection though & has a vast array of homebrewing supplies. And definitely has the most unique selection around.

This is one of my go to places in town when I'm looking for something special. I'm a relatively new beer geek but they seem to have a good selection. It's a pretty small place with not a whole of room between the shelves. I'm always afraid I'm going to knock something over.
In store service can be hit or miss. There's a couple guys who are super helpful and eager to answer questions. There's also a couple who are less so.... Service via their FB page however is top notch. They always answer questions about availability etc... within a couple hours tops.
If you're a home brewer, this is the place to go. They've got all the stuff and are eager to help answer any questions you might have.

Stopped in here on a recent trip to Grand Rapids to visit the Founders Brewpub. Great little store only a few minutes from Founders. A little unassuming from the exterior, but what a selection it has. I'm not certain on the number of shelves, but there were at least 5 or 6 shelves lined top to bottom with beer. Not to mention the two walls and coolers of beer. They have everything you can imagine and then some. Usually have cases of the latest limited release sitting right at the register, aka, Founders Kentucky Breakfast. Was able to find a couple of Michigan brewed beers that I wanted to try, as well as some belgians that I had been looking for. Great little store with an even better selection. It's worth the drive over.

We rolled in here just as they were closing, and they stayed open for us long enough to grab a few local beers to take home. The guy working even answered our beer questions, and was very helpful.
Singles galore, many from almost every Michigan brewery that bottles. Founders, Jolly Pumpkin, Arcadia, Arbor, Dark Horse, et cetera. They had a long aisle of imports, although I stuck mostly to the coolers full of singles. A few single Arbor and Dragonmead bottles from here were later discovered to be old, so points off for quality.
There was a good selection of homebrewing supplies and pipe tobacco as well. I'd stop here again if I was passing through Grand Rapids.

Stopped here after visiting IBS, which certainly set a high bar for comparison. I expected more from what is currently an A+ beer store. The selection is good, but I didn't find much there that I can't find at any other solid A store (my beer searches are limited to domestics). The beer is spread out over what is a fairly cramped, maze-like shop. The beer cave is a little creepy with its low ceiling and old freezer door. First saw an employee at the checkout, and the girls behind the counter were nice enough.
To be fair, the selection is good enough that I would return if I were in or lived in the area. I would, however, go during non-peak times to make sure I had enough room to move around and to get out of the parking lot in one piece.
UPDATE: visited a couple times in the last few months and an update is warranted.
Recent expansion completely eliminated the cramped, maze-like feel. The beer cave is still there - unchanged in its creepiness - but is being put to better use (all the Short's brews are now kept in the chiller - hooray and thank you!). And I've visited regularly enough to properly judge how well they are getting in several brands that I have not seen anywhere else.

I've been up to Grand Rapids twice in the past month and have made it a point to stop by the top bottle shop in GR, Siciliano's, while visiting.
Siciliano's had a broad range of Domestic and International bottles and a participatory good selection of Belgians. The shop only sells by the bottle, which makes their shelves of 4-packs and 6-packs a bit pricey.
Both times I've stopped in, I've had a hard time finding anything terrible exceptional. Like many shops, I'm sure they get some whales in from time to time, which probably vaporize within hours but even in talking to the staff, I was told they simply don't have much of that kind of stuff and I should keep an eye on their Twitter feed.
I agree that its without a doubt the best bottle shop in the area, but on par with other shops in the Midwest, I think it's a bit below the A+ its been given on BA. Perhaps their rather large Home Brew shop lifts their score... but as a bottle shop, I've seen stores more deserving of such a high score.
Nice selection, single bottles, good international variety.
