Visited last Saturday (7/30/05) for the first time. Shares the same structure with a pizza joint.
Quality: Very fresh offerings, especially the regional beer. Didn't see any dusty bottles.
Service: Good. I know what I want, so I don't talk much when I'm on the hunt. Obviously I'll ask if they might have 'this' or 'that' and how fresh it is, but that about it. Friendly and helpful staff.
Selection: First off, their regional Michigan micro selection was off the chart - you name it, they have it. It looked as though every 6 pack (Michigan micros) they offered was also avail. in singles in the wall coolers. Great selection of Belgians (La Binchoise - sp?) and Germans also. Fresh Victory offerings, for Michigan that's a BIG hell yeah!!
Value: Reasonable. I put together a 6-pack of Prima Pils, Storm King & San Miguel Dark = $12. Not too shabby.
Also, this place had an enormous selection of homebrew supplies. I'm not a home brewer (yet), but I'd suspect this place is one of the best in western MI. Good selection of cigars also, nice walk-in humidor.
Overall: I'll definitely be hitting-up this store every time I'm in Grand Rapids. Much closer to me than Detroit suburbs, and pretty much equal from what I've seen in SE MI.

Spending a few days in Grand Rapids, reading the reviews, I had to stop by. Not having a decent homebrew store near my home, I found that the equipment very interesting, but I know very little about it to be able to say anything. Selection of the beer was good. Practically everything was priced as singles, allowing a good mixing and matching of beers. They were using the Beer Advocate ratings to advertise some of the beers, which made me feel a little at home. My wife also enjoyed that ("Look, Victory Imperial Stout, that's rated 94. You should get it.") Nice place, decent service, nothing special there. Polite and friendly.

Just a few minutes from the Founders brewpub is this excellent store. When you enter the store there are several aisles of beer and plenty of coolers full of it as well. This place sells plenty of home brewing stuff, but I am not a home brewer so I didnt really look through that stuff. They had a good selection of imports as well as local micros and other micros. The single prices seemed pretty reasonable and you get a case discount on your whole order once you buy a case worth of beer. As me and my buddy were stocking up on massive amounts of beer we were asked if we were on a Beer Odyssey from one of the people that worked there. We talked a bit and he seemed to know his stuff pretty well and pointed out a couple of beers I overlooked. Good sized selection, reasonable prices and good service will make this a stop anytime I am in the area.

Stumbled on Siciliano's by accident, but had read Beerfly enough to know a stop was necessary.
Very nice selection of both foreign and U.S. micro stuff, with an expected and appreciated emphasis on west and north Michigan breweries. Due to the small size of the shop, the amount they are able to stock of any beer at any particular time is a bit limited. I didn't hit them until about 11:00 p.m. on a Friday night, so some areas were well picked over.
Staff was extremely helpful, and more than willing to check for stock in the back. Staff also made enquiries as to palate preferences, and pointed out interesting things that I likely would have missed due to the somewhat jumbled nature of the store. Staff also pointed out 10% mixed case discount when I went to the counter with a bit less than 24 bottles. Very cool, and much appreciated.
Everything seemed to be available as singles for those who like to try lots of different things. Some dust apparent, but beers tasted so far have all been in fine shape.
There is a nice homebrew supply section which I did not check out in detail as I was travelling. I will definitely be making the drive next time I'm in town. The best beer store I've found in Grand Rapids for sure.

This place really is the place to go. The store is nextdoor to a pizza place, thus setting the scene for a dinner and drinks kinda night. There seems to be a decent amount of homebrew paraphenalia strewn about in the front right quadrant of the shop. I haven't enlightened myself to that realm of the beer experience yet but when I decide it is time to take a stab at making some homebrew, this is most likely where you'll find me. From what I could see, there was a healthy selection of gear and ingredients. The stuff I went there for was in the back left quadrant. A vast selection of singles like nothing mine eyes had ever seen. Talk about a deer in the headlights. I was dumbfounded. I feverishly grabbed up a bunch of bottles and shuffled them into the complimentary six pack carriers. I couldn't remember what I had grabbed after the second carrier was full but I kept on stuffing bottles into slots. Quite an awesome time was enjoyed by myself at Siciliano's. You get a discount if you buy so many bottles. I think the magic number was 24. Ten percent off! Can't scoff at that. Saved me some cash on this splurge! I could have easily rounded up another 24 bottles but my loan application was denied : )
There were two bearded dudes that seemed pretty mellowed out. One of them offered help. At least I think he said something pertaining to help or was I finding things okay. You know, service clerk phrasings. I was unable to comprehend speech at that space in time due to the sensory overload caused by the visual beauty of the packed coolers and the tactile stimulation from fondling bottles both cold and warm. Plus the one who rang me up gave me the discount which I would have known nothing about if he hadn't advised me of it. Thanks bearded, dude! (This happened to be a verified Siciliano! An heir to the throne. I found this out after my initial review. His dad is cool as hell too. I shopped there one morning at open afer I got out of work. Just me and Big Sici. He advised Old Ruffian. He was so right! I'm tellin ya, this place rocks. added 1/20/06)
This was the promise land I had been seeking. I have to give them a 5 for selection because it was the best I have seen in my short time of collecting brews. If something better should reveal itself to me, I will gladly change it to 4.5. Check this mo fugga out. I know this is a well known spot but if you haven't been there by some stroke of bad luck, get in there and check it and wreck it! You will not be disappointed.
Update: Friday 1/20: Still the bomb! This place rules. Wait a month in between visits, and you can easily come out with a case of stuff you haven't had yet. And get the discount! The Mecca for me! Mad props!!! I upgraded their review score too. Dammit they deserve it! The best. No disputing!

This is quite possibly the best beer store in all of the west michigan area. Selection is second to none and prices are very reasonable. All selections are available as single, so you can feel free to make your own six pack. Great selection of Michigan micro brews from Founders, New Holland and of course Bell's (Kalamazoo Brewing Co.) Also carries extensive home brew supplies. Large walk-in humidor filled with various cigars (not into that, so no idea if they are any good or not) Constantly updating line with new choices as they become available.

Third review. A massively increased product line and continued excellent service have separated Siciliano's from the local "pack" in recent months. All that can seemingly stop them is a lack of space!
Siciliano's continues to separate themselves from the rest of the Grand Rapids pack in terms of beer selection and brand coverage. The additions of several new beers in the past year (Victory, Dogfish Head, Breckenridge, Great Divide, etc., etc.) has necessitated additional shelf space. So far, the store has managed to fit these additions into its small beer-designated space. However, many beers, particularly Michigan microbrews, are sold as quickly as they're put on the shelves due to the store's increasing popularity and space limitations leading to small orders and stock of many limited-batch beers. Lots of slower-moving German and British beers are available, and the Belgian selection, albeit still small, has improved, and is probably limited mostly by what the local distributors carry.
Siciliano's is #1 in Grand Rapids. Visit the other stores if you're looking for small batch beers that move quickly here but more slowly elsewhere.
Probably still the best beer store in Grand Rapids, especially considering the availability of all beers as singles. Fairly extensive selection of Michigan micros, including most Bells (though the seasonals have as of late been hard to find there), Founders, Arcadia, and New Holland as well as a handful of Dark Horse and Michigan Brewing Company. Used to carry a fair amount of Kraftbrau but I haven't seen any in months. Has a nice selection of other domestic micros including Rogue, Dogfish Head, Great Lakes, Goose Island, and the recently arrived Southern Tier. Decent import selection of German and British beers; weaker Belgian selection although there is some improvement as of late. They also carry cigars, wine, and homebrew supplies.
It's worth visiting this store frequently, as shelf space constraints confine them to ordering very small stocks that disappear quickly.

This place is just outside of town, a bit out of the way but definately worth it. Lake Michigan and Collindale area.
They have the best selection of singles in town. All of the six packs' bottles are individally marked. The prices are the best I have seen in town also. Old Rasputin goes for 1.60 while at other places it is about 2.00 or more. A lot of the beers seem to be slightly cheaper than most other stores. I just had to get a variety six pack.
The selection is one of the best I have seen also, as far as micros go. The imports are a little weak, however. That includes the Belgian selection. From what I saw these people really know what the beer lover is looking for in a beer selection. I was like a kid in a candy store.
Service is outstanding I had just picked my son up from school and stoped in there. As soon as we walked through the door, he grabbed his crotch and said, "I have to go pee". The woman behind the counter said he can use ours. That told me that the service is quite nice. I appreciated the fact I didn't have to leave. She also seemed knowledgeable about the beer selection on hand.
This place is outstanding. I used to go to Martha's all the time, but this place is my new favorite. I highly recomend this establishment.
Oh, they are a full service brewing store also.

The place for homebrewing supplies in West Michigan. I think there was only one time when they didn't have a grain I wanted. They carry both White Labs and Wyeast brand yeast, which is a bonus. Very friendly and helpful staff, always willing to help you out or answer a question, or give a friendly nudge towards all grain brewing.
The beer selection is impressive, one of the best I've seen in Michigan. Full lineups of Bell's, New Holland, Founders, and lately Dark Horse and Kraftbrau. Usually a nice selection of english ales and Unibroue. The only store in West Michigan I've seen Dogfish Head in.

I no longer live in GR, but fortunately my parents still do so I can continue to shop at Sicilaino's Market.
They have an excellent selection of regional micros, European imports, and (most importantly for me) a great selection of non-regional domestic micros like Rogue. They also allow you to mix and match just about anything into a sixpack.
Service is topnotch. Whether you have a question about homebrewing, need a recomendation for a good wee heavy purchase, or just want to chat about beer, these guys are there for you.
In addition to all of the above, they also offer a great variety of homebrew products and have a large walk-in fridge in the back for ingredients/yeast.
It's a hole in the wall, but it's one I'd gladly crawl into anytime.
