Picked this up at whole foods Coddingtown in Santa Rosa.
A-Pours a crystal clear golden straw with a big frothy off white head. Nice lacing.
S-Kinda bland on the nose. Malt some earthy hops. Certainly not what I expected from a West Coast golden IPA.
T-Malty with a lot of bitterness. Bitterness lingers quite a bit and is not balanced by other flavors. rather one note.
M-Medium bodied, good carbonation.
O-Always fun to try a new local brewery when traveling. A bit disappointed though. So many good IPAs to use as a model out here.

Poured a caramel orange color with two fingers of off-white head when I got it. Great lacing on the sides and great retention all the way down.
Smelled red notes with some alcohol, but was hard to track down. Some caramel/toffee heavy notes.
Tasted earthy and malty, like what I think a reddish IPA would taste like. Caramel, toffee, honey, rye hops, iced tea and some skunky resin hops.
Medium body. Oily-to-creamy texture. Average carbonation. Bitter finish.
Not a bad beer overall. Worth a try of something new.

22 oz bottle into Sierra Nevada IPA glass
A - Pillowy fluffs of light khaki foam pile atop this light amber colored beer. Major head retention, lots of lace patches left on the glass. Beer is nice and clear, very good looking. The foam reminds me of Duvel.
S - Aroma is mild. Sweet notes of caramel with some citrusy hop aroma.
T - Wonderful caramel malt backbone, with a nice hop bitterness. Hops are "green" with citrus and resin. Could be hoppier, but still appropriate for style.
M - Pretty smooth. A nice lingering hop bitterness in the aftertaste. Light and refreshing.
O - I have never heard of this brewery before. Looks like they just opened this year (in January 2013) and I thought I'd give it a shot. It's a very nice IPA. I tend to prefer them more hoppy, leaning towards the DIPA scale, but this beer does a great job at being what it is. The foam reminded me of Duvel, the flavor reminded me of Fuller's ESB - but definitely with more hop presence. This beer is definitely worth trying and I really look forward to more good things from this new brewery.
