By far our most luscious and robust offering. Roasted coffee and chocolate completely permeate your palate with enormous body and highlights of rich caramel. Massive in its flavors but surprisingly drinkable, this stout will certainly challenge your palate.

Opaque deep dark brown and a frothy medium brown head. The head fades into a bubbly ring around the glass leaving small scattered patches. Aroma is sweet, roasty, and toasty. Dark purple and red fruits like cherry, raspberry, and blackberry covered in chocolate and caramel. Very chocolaty....dark and milk. There's a faint touch of pine as well. Flavor is similar to the aroma. Lots of awesome chocolate, a little bittersweet, caramel, and dark berries. Nice smooth and creamy texture too. Body is full but this drinks down in a medium body way.

Poured into a snifter jet black with a creamy-like half finger deep beige head atop that settled very slowly into a frothy mass.Big bakers chocolate in the nose with underlying vanilla and dark roast coffee, very appetizing.Chocolate is big on the palate as well with the roasted coffee flavors a bit bigger than the nose would indicate, some underlying booze and caramel/vanilla keeps the sweetness up there with the roast.A really nice Impy stout made here in NC.

Solid chocolate malt and oat flavors. Slightly sweet and alcoholic. Warming feeling.

Sampling a cellar temp 12 oz can poured into my snifter. Also part of a trade with krubes. Thank you!
My can says 10.5% not the 9.1 % listed here.
Beer pours a pitch black color with dark tan head of 2 cm that fades to a surface layer after the pour leaving tight lattice on the glass. the bubbles remain as a sturdy surface layer throughout sampling.
The aroma is rich and malty with some roasted malt and some dark chocolate but overall the nose is pretty mild.
First sip reveals an average body with a clean and light texture. This feels more like a lager than a stout, crisper than I anticipated and not very thick either.
Flavor is malty with some dark chocolate and a bit of charred malt and roast coffee. No hops here, but not an exceptionally robust flavor. Booze is well hidden, but in general this beer is a little bit of a let down. It isnt bad , but I hoped for a bolder nose and flavor on this beer. Glad to have tried it and would try the bourbon barrel version, but wouldnt chase this one.

Great Stout! I had the opportunity to try a vertical ( 2013-2018), port barrel aged, bourbon barrel aged, rum barrel aged, combo bourbon and rum barrel agedat the Millers Toll event. All of the were great but the show stoppers were the 2014 barrel aged because of its smoother than Ron burgundy playing jazz flute, the mixed rum/ bourbon barrel aged 2018 for its complexity, and the port barrel aged the overall best. I’m so psyched my town got 3 sixtels of it at 3 different local bars!

A: Pours an opaque thick viscous jet black in color with light to moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation rising along the edges of the glass and faint extremely dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a two finger foamy dark mocha colored head that slowly reduces to a large patch of very thin film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate to strong aromas of roasted + oatmeal + caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel + molasses sweetness. Moderate aromas of dark chocolate + coffee.
T: Upfront there are moderate to strong flavors of roasted + oatmeal + caramel malts with moderate amounts of caramel + molasses sweetness. Strong flavors of freshly roasted coffee and moderate flavors of dark chocolate. Light amounts of earthy hops. Slightly stronger than moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which lingers through the finish.
M: Just shy of full bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth.
O: Easy to drink considering the strength with relatively well hidden alcohol. Enjoyable with really nice coffee flavors and aromas with lighter presence of chocolate over a roasty + oatmeal malt base. Definitely could enjoy another of these and will need to find some more to last this winter.
