One of three large Bavarian brewery halls close to the lovely Gendarmenmarkt in ’downtown Berlin’. Lowenbrau and Augustiner also have establishments within walking distance of here. In fact I did all three on this afternoon (22 Feb 2013).

Modern twist to a traditional Bavarian feel: Paulaner seem to be very good at this, I’ve been in other places they’ve spent money on and this is no exception.

The beers (hell and dunkel) I had were fresh and in good order, the food looked great, but I was eating later. Service was fine and I was left alone to enjoy my beers without staff coming over and quizing me about food or another beer until I summoned them. Euro 3:70 for half a litre of draught.

Pleasant and although I was drinking alone it seemed a warm and inviting place, eating or not. I met too very drunk Italian lads (mid 20’s) in here: they’d had a ball sitting at the bar and drinking far too much. Pissed by 16:00 they were going to miss the evening and night!
