A- Pearlescent, hazy straw yellow color, with a fine-bubbled white head.
S- Soap. That's it. What a disappointment.
T- Thin, watery wheat malt flavor which simply disappears on the finish. As in, poof, gone.
M, D- Super-light, watery chalkiness. At least the CO2 was in balance.
A very poor representation of the style, especially in light of the competition. Try this next to the stunning Schneider Edel-Weisse or Weihenstephaner and see.

Well for a hefe weizen this is a bit of an odd ball. its like a hefe wanting to be a sour or something.
cloves and bananas and summertime? nope
sour, bitter fruit? sure why not.
i wouldnt recommend this obviously, but if you have the expectation of an odd hefe it might not be bad.

A-light cloudy yellow gold. a lot of white head
S-if i drank a hefe, then threw it up, that is what this beer would smell like. maybe it is too citrusy, certainly not pleasant.
T-this tastes like a watered down, lemony version of blue moon. to me, its an absolute abhorrent representation of the style.
M-medium carbonation with a light watery finish.
D-i split a 500mL bottle, and i'm sure glad i did. i wouldn't have wanted an entire bottle to myself. its simply not a good beer.

Pinkus Hefe Weizen is a cloudy, highly sparkling, pale yellow beer with a small white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma is a bit faint, and of bubble gum, banana and lemon. It is light bodied and fluffy in the mouth. It seems pretty watery and it leaves the tongue a bit ragged and chalky. I taste wheat, but there really isn't any presence from the esters. There is a little bit of fusel going on here. The flavor is pretty disjointed. It kind of tastes like chalk, aspirin, Natural Ice and Wheaties. I will smoke a cigarette while drinking the rest of this beer. It seems like an American wheat beer gone wrong.

Low white head sits atop straight a OJ clouded beer...
Smells of sweet citrus and calcium chalk
Tastes of bland wheat, hard water and lost money. Turns a little sour as it warms which is strange for the style
Mouthfeel is very light bodied and watery some light carbonation tickles the cheeks
Overall not a bad tasting beer, but definitely lacking in every department. Boring.
I hear this beer is pretty inconsistent so if you want to read other reviews on what the one I'm drinking tasted like click on the "low reviews" button of it bc the lowest reviews on this seemed to experience the same thing. Absolutely not the A rating the bros gave it in 2002.

Served into a Weihenster wheat glass from a brown 500ml bottle.
Hazy, straw color with a tall froathy head with fair retention, moderate carbination, with a few strings constiantly rising.
Clean with some light sweet malt, doughy, with very subtle, clovey notes and a touch of citrus Not a lot of typical wheat character.
Very clean taste with fruity tartness, bisquity. Finishes very dry with a citrusy edge. Not much taste, not much if any classic wheat taste.
Very light with grainyness. At best a thirst quencher, very uninteresting. Seemed more like a light Macro than a wheat beer to me .I'm stuck with a case, might have to go buy some fruit to finish this case.

2.79 at hollinghshead 16.9 oz bottle. I liked the fact that it was organic, label was a little childish.
Sharp, sparkly, and a bit sour. Head foamed at first then settled and was unassuming. Carbonation fades also, this beer followed all German brew laws. Above average for an organic beer. Lack of clove, or wheat, I wouldn't have even known it was a wheat beer if it was put in front of me blind. I'm not impressed with this beer. Only buy it if you are an organic beer aficionado. Otherwise its a below average hefe.

Little head and a flat sour flavor. Not much on the nose, not much on the tongue, and leaves a chalky aftertaste. I had to search for the flavor in this one. I may not know this type of beer, (or it very well may have been a bad bottle), but it left me wanting.
Drinkable but not memorable.
(I'll give it a second chance someday, like I said, maybe it was a bad bottle).

A fan of Weis beers, I was curious to try this organic offering I found at our local "Roots Market." The pour was a cloudy anemic straw color (even after sitting a few days until opened), producing not much head. The first taste seemed to have characteristic Hefe-Weizen fizz, but the carbonation disappeared quickly, leaving a mostly flat beer experience for the second half of the bottle. I've never had a beer do this before... Taste was characteristically hefe-weizen but thin, like it's about 75% of a the classic, clean but substantial flavor characteristic of this style. I've had other organic beers that did justice to their style. This one just doesn't. Disappointing, especially at 3.99/bottle.

Poured from a 500mL bottle into a weizen glass.
A: The beer is a light gold color with a large white head that fades quickly and leaves a thin spotty lace on the glass.
S: The aroma is very faint and contains some wheat, banana, lemon and a touch of hops.
T: The taste is likewise very dull, with the same flavors that you get in the smell: wheat, banana & lemon. The malt character is very thin as is the hops presence, but at least it doesnt have that nasty bite that Ive gotten from many other organic brews. The after-taste is slightly bready with a touch of sweetness.
M: Crisp with a little smoothness, light-to-medium body, medium-to-heavy carbonation, somewhat clean finish.
D: Not very tasty, goes down ok, not very filling, decent representation of style, if youre into the organic beers for the cause, then youve got yourself a decent beer to drink. However compared to other Hefeweizens, this beer falls short of acceptable.

Appearance - Yellow-white body. Perfect white, one finger head that has moderate retention and broken lacing.
Smell - Not particularly complex for a hefe. Smells like orange, lemon, grass and nut.
Taste - Very plain for a hefe. Almost like it was spliced with a bud light. Finish is way too dry and watery.
Mouthfeel - No creaminess for a hefe.
Drinkability - One of the more boring hefes, but if you're crazy about Organic stuff, then maybe this is the compromise you have to make.

This beer pours a cloudy pale yellow. With a thin head that fades very quickly. The beer gives off aromas of orange peel, butterscotch, honey, and wheat which lead you to believe this will be a good hefe. Well the gig is up. The taste is thin and watery. If they made a Hefe-light this would be it. There are citrus and wheat flavors, but the middle and finish is so watery you forget all about them. I haven't tried any other organics so I don't know if it is because it is organic or just not a great beer.

Pours out a light yellow hue with just a little hazy orange color in it and a decent white head that dropped pretty quickly.
Smell. it has a sweet lager aroma to it. i get no fruitiness or spice to it, just a honey and a little lemon cirtus. It is also a little yeasty. Not a big fan of the aroma.
Taste. More on the citris side. It is very light, reminds me more of an american wheat than a hefe weizen. It also has a light hoppiness in it, but not normal clove taste or bananas i was hoping for tonight. Aftertaste is yeasty.
Mouthfeel. decent. decent carbonation, medium to light body. good balance.
Overall, not bad but i dont think its a good hefe. Is quite refreshing though, just not as tasty and complex as i was hoping.

too bad, we were very disappointed. we were expecting something akin to schneider's edel-weiss, organic weizen. dead wrong.
before we continue the review, we're checking the bottle for freshness info, but can't find any. okay, we'll continue...
head dissipates quickly. mouthfeel, almost nonexistant. the beer isn't quite flat, but it's getting there, at least compared to most hefes (including the baltika we drank 5 minutes ago).
the scent is like a weak grass/stale hop combo. very bland. scent reminds me more of a pilsener than a wheat beer.
the flavor is somewhat similar. pretty bland, not all that wheaty, not getting much fruit or spice or anything for that matter. leaves me with a grassy aftertaste.
this beer is weak. we're drinking it out of a schneider glass, a treatment it definitely doesn't deserve. we hope we just got an off bottle. there are no real bad flavors, but there isn't much good going on here. wouldn't look for this again.
overall, we're very disappointed. we like to try organic brews whenever possible, and are big hefe fans. this just didn't cut it.

Pours a yellow gold with a decent white head with adequate retention. Smells of banana, spice, and sugar cane. Not bad there, but something's off with the taste. Oranges, malts and furtive coriander exist but are thrown off by a weird tartness. Otherwise there's just not much going on here with this light bodied hefe.

Blah. Very boring beer. Weak yellow pour with a big head. Kind of cloudy. Aroma is stale hay blended with faint yeast. No banana or cloves that one would expect. Taste is musty yeast with grass, again with no banana or clove. Too expensive to try again.

Appearance: Pours a crystal clear golden color with a reasonably fluffy head that leaves a few strands of lace; looks more like a pilsner
Smell: Lemony and chalky; smells a bit like Pez
Taste: A bit of a wheat bread flavor up front, but then we move into the lemony flavor; not too much banana and even less cloves; after the swallow, the flavor is rather bland except for the lemony remnants in the finish
Mouthfeel: Light to medium body with moderate carbonation
Drinkability: There are not too many organic beers that have impressed me and this is certainly not one of them

Pours a very mirky yellowish color with a thin white head. It kind of looks like a banana beer. Weak citrus aroma with hints of wheat, banana and lemon zest. Bland flavor with hints of citrus and lemon peel, bread, banana and clove with a sweet and slightly sour lemon juice finish.

Appearance - light for a hefeweizen, a straw-yellow and very cloudy. About a quarter inch head, dissipates quickly. The retention didn't last long as I drank the glass
Smell - citrusy, more sour smelling than other hefeweizens I've had
Taste - like the smell, this beer seems to have a sour taste that lingers. Also the normal bready, banana-like tastes that are common of hefeweizens
Mouthfeel - pretty light for the style, but still pretty smooth. The carbonation was strange for a hefe, it seemed more like I was drinking an American lager
Overall - a decent hefeweizen, definitely different from most that I've had. I feel like the citrus of the beer was overwhelming to the normal hefeweizen flavors. Also, I feel like the lightness was a disadvantage as compared to others.

Bottle Inspection: Nothing useful on the label
Aroma: A mild citric note with very mild hints of malt. Very neutral aroma
Appearance: Hazy, but not cloudy yellow glass with a thin cover of white that left a touch of lace
Flavor: Very mild taste. A little wheat flavor, but almost a macro lager overall taste. No clove or banana notes.
Mouthfeel: Medium light body with medium carbonation
Overall Impression: Forgettable. Thirst quenching I guess, but just not much here to report. Seriously rousting the yeast toward the end help intensify the taste a bit, but still, a weak and watery hefe.
Thanks to Pegasus for the sample.

The weakest German Hefe's I've had. Nice clouded golden look with a decent head and all that. The smell was clovey to me and a lingering citrus with a subdued wheat charateristic. The taste was a standard wheat with only mild hefe yeast notes. The mouthyfeel was just so and it was drinakable in the not really bad sense, just not realy a "Hefe" to me. No thanks.

500ml bottle poured into Weisse glass 9/1/12
A murky peachy orange with lots of bubbles feeding a fast falling two finger head that leaves no lace
S soggy cereal and sour lemon
T as it smells really with a little spice but not much for the style, perhaps an old bottle because this is not quite right for a Hefe
M light bodied with enough bubbles too give it some life, grainy aftertaste
O this one didn't really do it for me, looks average and not the typical Hefe flavors and smells
pretty average stuff, I doubt I'd bother with this one again

A: This beer had a pale yellow color and a cloudy consistency. Poured a buge amount of head and had some OK lacing.
S: There was a weak smell, kind of wheaty, kind of grassy. Never really committed.
T: To me, the taste was a little on the thin side. While you get a bit of wheat, there's an unwelcome grassy quality about it. This makes the beer kind of funky, something I don't crave in a hefe-weizen. Aside from this, it was just very watery and uninteresting.
M: There was a fair amount of carbonation and kind of an oily finish. Medium-bodied.
D: This isn't a particularly drinkable beer in my opinion. The taste is decidedly thin and just plain blah. This is odd coming from a German brewer of hefe-weizens.

500mL bottle at refrigerator temperature poured into a snifter.
A - Slightly hazy golden body with a less-than-robust head. The bubbles bunch along the sides of the glass as it dissipates.
S - Banana, sage, clove, a touch of pepper, sweet bread. The fruit notes stand out most prominently. Nothing particularly surprising or exciting here.
T - I find this brew to be kind of bland and watered-down. It's not unpleasant, but it's kind of boring. I taste a bit of malt and a slight touch of banana, but really not much else.
M - Along with the taste, this beer just feels watered-down. It's not as crisp and refreshing as other German hefeweizens I've tried. Again, it's not unpleasant to drink, just not exciting in any way.
D - I can see sitting around with friends on a warm summer night drinking this with some pub food. For me, it's the kind of beer that you can drink and enjoy without thinking about it. Just don't expect any esoteric enjoyment out of a glass of this brew. I won't seek this beer out again, after this tasting.

Poured a murky yellow (more murky than cloudy) yellow - highly carbonated - and more transparent than most others of this style. It had a fizzy white head that became a spotted lace.
The smell was a bit thin, but did have hints of lemon, clove and some yeast.
The taste was of lemon and yeast, but was too thin. Water was predominant. It seemed like a beer version of a wine spritzer. the carbonation came through and seemed to interfere with the flavors.
A fizzy lemon feel stuck on the tongue for awhile, but there was no bad aftertaste.
The high carbonation and lack of anything offensive made it drinkable for the one bottle, but it is not something that I would seek out again, as there are more substantial, flavorful examples of this style for the same, or less, price.
