Starts out with an attractive light coppery color in the tall nonic, but there's not much head. Unfortunately, the carbonation dissipates to nothing.

A little cidery, a hint of browned buiscuits. Rather sweet with some kind of fruit juice in the front. Modest hoppiness, but there is some bitterness. The yeasty flavors are quite subdued except for a drying sensation after some sipping. The alcohol doesn't help any. I wonder what this would taste like with some carbonation?

One of my favorite styles but this is the worst alleged Saison I've had in ages. On tap at Hillcrest Brewing.

Consumed on March 22nd, 2013 at the brewery.

Beer is a light and slightly cloudy yellow. A fine, white foamy crown provides sticky sheeting on the sides of the glass.

Aroma has a sweaty armpit scent with a floral and herbal accent, sort of like a deodorant that failed to fully eliminate B.O. Not as offensive as I'm making it sound, but not especially appealing.

Flavor has a soft wheaty note up front. Orange peel and floral notes. Moderate bitterness on finish. Slightly dry.

Medium mouthfeel, slightly parching,

Not so awesome, but good enough.

I also had a chardonnay barrel aged version, which was essentially the same but white wine flavors were the most significant component of the aroma and flavor. A 50/50 blend of the two might have been something fun...
