A bottle exceptionally beautiful. So, for large qualities, almost everything.
The nose smells of alcohol, corn and wheat. The body is the beautiful part in the grain but also a warm alcohol spoil some other flavors of beer, if other flavors there a. The finish also offers the warm presence devoid of taste.
Nothing really fantastic.

Bottle: Poured a clear golden color ale with a huge pure white foamy head with good retention and some good lacing. Aroma is unfortunately dominated corn notes which are not really pleasant. Taste is also dominated by loads of corn ester with an overly sweet malt base. Boyd is full with a weird oily texture and good carbonation with no apparent alcohol. This one is a total mess and not something I would look for again.

Bottle from the LCBO, corked and caged 750ml into a tulip. Date on the neck is July 18, 2012 (is this a best before date?)
Pours a perfectly clear gold, with a finger or two of white head. Decent carbonation evident in the body; lacing is webbed but thin and retention is moderate. Nose is gentle, but suggestive of something more along the lines of a Belgian Golden Strong, sweet and a light candied note, a bit of caramel, and light and gentle hopping. Malts are more prominent here. Taste has some gentle grassiness/European hops and thin, crackery/wafery golden malts. Apple/pear flesh. Sweet body and light bitterness and spice in the finish, with a bit of sulphur. Alcohol is present but not substantial. Lighter medium body, with carbonation being quite high and appropriate. Not like a couple other Biere de Gardes than I've had before, and I'd believe you if you had told me this was a Belgian Golden Strong.

750ml into tulip. Picked up at the lcbo by the mrs as a surprise.
A- Crystal clear straw pour. Two finger soapy white head that drops quickly to a thin cap. Lacing just coats the glass.
S- Biscuit and sugar. Apples and grape skins. Slight pepper aroma.
T- Slight metallic taste, slightly sweet, apples and grapes. Sweet biscuits and pepper.
M- Lively carbonation, light bodied.
O- Not bad, I wouldn't consider this a bier de garde. Probably would have been better in smaller serving size.

LCBO seasonal. Biere de Garde in malty yeasty sweet sandwich. Just too sweet. Floral malty yeastiness. Creamy mouthfeel. Large retained head. 750 ml is a lot even for 4 people.Want more of the spice, the biere de garde part. Pours like a champagne, understated carbonation.

750ml Bottle
Appearance – Clear yellow colour with a large size fizzy white coloured head. There is an average amount of carbonation showing and there is some fair/good lacing. The head lasted for around 5 minutes before it was gone.
Smell - Grains/wheat, apples, yeast, peppery spice mix
Taste & Mouth - The beer has a high amount of carbonation and most of the taste is made up of wheat mixed with corn and some apples. There is also a bit of yeast and clove/pepper. It ends with a slightly spicy aftertaste.
Overall – While it is an above average beer it's not really something I think I'll revisit. Perhaps if it was available to me in a smaller size.. the large bottle was more than enough for one sitting.

From notes.
A - Poured golden with strong carbonation coming up. Bright. Half finger of white head. Good island of retention with good lace.
S - Yeast, pepper, biscuity, pear.
T - Good pear, apple, a little spice, a light citrus, yeast.
M - Very smooth with an effervescent medium to full feel. Finishes a little dry.
O/D - Nice. Lot's of pear notes coming through. Tasty. The yeast and fruit mixing was flavourful and made for a nice tipple.

A: Pours a very clear straw-like colour with a finger of foam head. Quick fading retention with some sporadic lacing.
S: Grain/floral qualities (faintly soap-like), spices of pepper & clove, cane sugar, and subdued orchard fruit notes of apple and pear. Nice but not too varied.
T: Bread-like malt coupled with a substantial floral flavour is potent upfront, with flashes of watermelon that follow. Orchard fruits, pepper, and clove are all evident. Alcohol fairly well hidden. Nice, bitter and dry taste.
M: Light body with a moderate level of carbonation.
D: Quite tasty. I'm enjoying the bitter and dryness of this, but not overly crazy about the floral focus. Nonetheless, I was happy to see something like this in the LCBO.

Appearance: It has a nice pale golden color to it. It has a nice white head that dies down moderately and leaves some lacing.
Smell: The aromas definitly give out hints of yeast, spices, floral notes and some fruit.
Taste: Like the aromas, it has a sweet corn and bready malt character, yeast, floral and earthy hops, some spices and a light fruitiness.
Mouthfeel: It has a medium/high carbonation with a nice overall balance and feel.
Drinkability: It's a very smooth drinkable beer accompanied with good flavors and aromas. It's like a lager meets a Belgian Pale Ale but all together a solid beer.

"Or" (gold) is a most suitable name for this blindingly bright yellow beer. Sunglasses are advised. The complexity is clear despite a bit of haze and seeing your finger through the other side is no problem what so ever. But apparently that cork was quite porous: most all carbonation escaped somehow. This beer is flat.
If we consider strong Belgian pales as heavyweights due to their strength and features of peppery, fruity, phenolic yeast, then this French example is more like a cruiser-weight. The fact that I can smell sugar and grains means this beer is undernourished, so to speak. It pales in comparison (no pun intended) but it's not unpleasant.
Or has a serviceable, if plain, flavour; its pale, bready maltiness mirrors that of a lager in fact (overlooking the added alcohol strength). While it unquestionably lacks the pyrotechnics of typical Belgian examples, it has some complexity. And it's definitely tasty, showing a bit of earthy hop taste and dollops of apple and pear.
The sugar (or whatever they added to boost the alcohol) got it there alright, but does not serve the mouthfeel well. It leaves a conspicuous sweetness that is initially pleasant but quickly becomes too saccharine. With warmth it becomes a little more mellow and honey-like. Bloody refreshing as is, but more bubbles are still needed.
Jenlain Or has not been held in great regard by most reviewers, which is understandable if people were expecting a bière de garde. But this is obviously a strong pale ale, in the same vein as Duvel, and in that respect deserves a little more love. I think this is good enough to put Brasserie Duyck, not above, but at least in the company of Dupont or D'Achouffe.

750mL bottle from the LCBO. Grabbed my attention because the label looked more like a wine or wine-like beverage. Also, this will be my first non-Boris/Kronenbourg French beer, so that's something.
Poured into my trusty Duvel chalice. Brilliant honey golden, effervescent, but the carbonation causes a quick head burn off. No matter. Leaves a slight ring.
Nose is sweet, malty, a bit of bread, light hops and musk. Never had a biere de garde before, but this is what I assumed it must smell like - similar to a saison.
Has a sweet lager backing, bready, and quite musky and with a touch of just past its prime fruit. Not going to lie, the taste became pretty cloying after a while. It's not bad, it's just not my cup of tea.
Sticky mouthfeel, carbonation wasn't well distributed - felt both flat and over-carbed at the same time.
Probably a case of my expectations running away with me. I was kind of hoping for something not entirely unlike Hennepin - this was really sweet and had a disagreeable taste, in my humble opinion. If I were to drink something like this again, it would need to be a lot drier and fresher. I'm glad the LCBO is bringing in some different brews from under-represented nations, but this one was a miss for me.

Poured from a corked 750ml bottle - two finger white head that quickly faded to a thin collar - no lacing and a pale golden body reminiscent of a euro lager
Aroma is yeasty pale malt with light fruit
Taste follows the nose with some corn and sweet bread - almost like a kicked up pale lager - some floral hops present - very sweet - a tart apple cider note in the finish and a little dry - for lack of a better description I also taste some vomit although it is somehow not as bad as it sounds. I also get a mineral hard water aftertaste.
This is a medium bodied syrupy brew with a bitterness similar to a lager. Not overly smooth and a little dry in the finish.
Overall, I was disappointed by this brew. Certainly did not live up to the beauty of the bottle nor is the price justified. Drinkable but not on my christmas list. Oh the brews I passed up in favour of this one!!!

Pale golden colour, one finger of white head, little lace left behind. Smell is yeasty and quite spicy, floral with sweet candy notes, lightly must with hints of alcohol. Taste is pretty earthy and yeasty, sweet banana and apple candy flavours, spicy, floral hops with a sweet finish. High zippy carbonation, full feel, medium-full body. Aside from this being a little too sweet for me at first the sweetness did mellow and became rather pleasant, a good but not great beer that is probably best to split since its a big bottle, pretty decent though.
