What happens when you send Bro. Woody out to his beloved Pittsburgh for the first weekend of Pittsburgh Beer Week? He returns with CANs of beer, of course! I met up with a couple of friends at the Rivertowne Pour House in Monroeville and got them to fashion a case of four (4) each of their six (6) CANned beers for takeaway.
From the CAN: Most of the verbiage appears in "Notes" for this beer. "Cheers and thanks, [undersigned] Andrew T. [?] Maxwell Brew Master"; a "Hoppy" vs. "Malty" chart; and an opportunity to use a QR scan code.
The Crack made me smile as another craft CAN was brimful. I then employed an inverted Glug that produced just over two fingers of foamy, tawny head with reasonable retention on this humid evening. Color was a deep-amber with NE-plus quality clarity and although it was clear, my future with my Old Lady is not. She does not seem to dig my association with Val MidWest, the Lincoln, NE chick currently in the news. It will be my loss, but I will miss her all the same. Nose seemed more malty than the chart would seem to indicate. I was getting a big caramel presence along with a bready maltiness from the nose. Mouthfeel was medium and I really got the caramel flavor on the tongue, initially. That was followed by a honey-biscuit malt taste that was really in keeping with the style. Finish was smei-sweet and when I closed my eyes, I imagined that I was eating a biscuit drizzled with honey. This is a great example of the style!

Thanks to the legendary woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a caramel color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some grains. Nothing mild about the taste. Crisp, malts, caramel, a touch of hops, a bit of sweetness. Very refreshing, a beer I could drink all night. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a solid beer.

Picked up a case from the brewery and poured into pint glass. Wow, lots of aroma came of the pour for a lager. Appeared amber in color but translucent. Nice and lively with a decent head that thinned and laced little. Smell came straight off the pour, delicious grains and malt! The can says they bridged 7 types of malt and did it fantastically. A little cascade hop mixes perfectly with the malt to balance it at or above Yuengling! Taste a lot like smells. Goes down easy like lagers should and leaves you with a nice malt taste to lap on. Mouthfeel is low carb and when ivey cold goes down maybe too quick. Overall RT Lager delivered just below Yuengling in my Lager list. If your a Lager lover you will enjoy this, and at $26.99 a case its a great session option!
