Brought over fresh from Cali by a friend of mine.
Pours a glowing orange straw color with a 1 finger white head that can't hold itself up more than a minute or two, leaving a paper-thin bubbly frothy coating. The aroma is seriously unique - very sweet, it smells like I cut into a fresh juicy orange. Alcohol is up front and a little solventy - almost like cheap vodka. The thick sweet orange flavors round out the major components of the taste. Pine and strong herbal aromas and flavors come out as it warms. Mouthfeel is resinous and viscous. Shit...I have a whole bomber of this to drink solo. This really might be something good with a year in the cellar, but now....not quite. This is one messy beer.

A - Amber, somewhat rusty body with a one inch head leaving nice lacing as the beer goes down.
S - Pine and citrus hops with a vociferous malt backbone and an unfortunate rubbing alcohol nose that much is much too apparent.
T - Malty piney hops. Alcohol again makes its presence known, unfortunately.
M - Smooth and oily and with a dry finish. Alcohol is apparent on the finish as well.
O - A nice DIPA, but the alcohol is too noticeable, detracting from the hop presence. Thanks to the wife for bringing a bottle back from San Clemente!

There is too much going on. And due to the ABV this comes in a smaller glass and never on Happy Hour...why, this is an overated beer there and one to avoid if possible.
A: Slight gold/light brown color.
S: Hoppy hits the notes with citrus notes that just jump out.
T: Too sweet and hard for an IPA to enjoy.
M: Milky and alcohol kill this one
O: Have had it several times...it is okay

From old notes.
A: Pours a copper color with a big head, about two (or more) fingers tall and white in color.
S: Smells like a pine tree all the way. Intensely piney, resinous, and oily with some moderate citrus tones to it. Very green and very intense. A bit of tropical fruits in there too.
T: Amazingly bitter and just as heavy on the pine as the nose was. Quite a bit of grapefruit and perhaps some pineapple and apricot. No real room for malt flavor on this one.
M: Medium in body with a moderate to high level of carbonation.
O: I could easily see this being "too much" for somebody but I really enjoyed it.

A - Orange golden clear with slight head & lacing.
S - Lightly juice like, but definitely hops and alcohol, maybe sage, maybe not?
T - Taste is medium/heavy of hops and citrus, not long after tste, alcohol'ish but I like that.
M - Not too carbonated, but has a good medium of drink-ability, slightly "hot" alcoholish.
D - good drink-ability, but might be little "hot" and over the top for some, but still the after taste is not much, very light aftertaste. Pretty good brew, I can tell its got a high alcohol content (9.4).

A= It poured a very nice Golden Orange with some golden coloring. Very nice head on this beer some lacing.
S= To me the smell was Hoppie to me a little bit of citrus with a hint of pine.
T= To me the tasted was deffently one of a strong beer which is fine with me they really didn't try to hide it. Left a little after taste.
M= Was a Heavy mouthful kind of coated my mouth.
D= To me it was really drinkable didn't have any problems would try it again. It was on the strong side but still a good choice would try it again.

On tap at TDR in Exton
A- Bright copper with some orange hints beneath and a flimsy off white cap with no lacing.
S- Smell is on the piney side with some residual sugar and some alcohol, bordering on nail polish in the minimal
T- An interesting DIPA, it's a very bitter one also, the pine overshadows the glimmers of pineapple and grapefruit that is underneath. Reminds me of a extremely light version of devil dancer with the teeth enamel taking off capabilities.
M- medium in build, slightly carbed alcohol on the mouth but not extremely hot. Bitter on the tounge that does not quit.
D- I am glad I tried it on tap no less but I don't think I will be going for it again. The alcohol is a bit high for my liking.

I really don't know what to make of this beer. It kind of grows on you, but tares the enamel off them and isn't overly drinkable. to wit!:
A: pours a nice golden. some carbonation. little bit oh head, that dies pretty quickly
S: clean quick pine and citrus
T: Sharp astringent citrus. and hints of mint. little hints of alcohol but damned is it astringent. not utterly mouth destroying.
M: sharp not really clean, and not really heavy
D: one at tops for me

Pours a golden orange with a small head which disspates to a spotty coating quickly. There is some lacing but minimal. Nose is orange and pine most strongly with some backside of flowery sweet hops. Taste starts sweet enough (orange, pineapple grapefruit and caramel) but quickly moves to bitter and a strong alcohol burn which isn't pleasant. Mouthfeel is chewy, syrupy and cloying with some edge due to the carbonation. While not awful, I coud not drink more than one of these and, with so many great IPA's out there, will pass on buying it again.

Appearance: Clear, orange with an ivory head.
Smell: some hop aroma, but I'm surprised there isn't more given the 4# of hops/barrel. I can smell the alcohol, which lowers the score for me.
Taste: surprisingly dry and much more malty than I expected given the label says base malt with a touch of caramel. Also tastes hot.
Mouthfeel: light and clean.
Drinkability: too hot for my tastes. Also tastes more like a very fresh bigfoot than a double IPA.

I pulled this one off the shelf because it's another DIPA I haven't had a chance to try yet. Reading back through the reviews on Beer Advocate, it's sounding like two distinctly different beers are being reviewed. I did notice that when I popped the cap on this that it wasn't sealed as well as most beers, but could this have caused problems for some of the reviewers?
Appareance -- a finger's worth of tiny bubble head, not the perfect DIPA orange color, but slightly darker.
Smell -- Great! Piney, a bit of citrus.
Taste -- I like a strong tasting beer and this is fine with me -- the alcohol is not masked, you know you're drinking a strong beer.
Mouthfeel -- slightly oily, heavy like a lot of DIPAs.
Drinkability -- I'm perfectly satisfied with this bomber. I'm happy I have 22 ounces -- though I'm nursing it.

Picked this one up at South Bay Drugs in San Diego. Been wanting to give this one a go for a while. Bomber served up in a standard pint glass.
A: Pours out a dark yellow to orange body. Held to the light, this one is pretty golden yellow with a clear body. There is a good amount of carbonation activity in here. A harsh and vigorous pour yielded a very thin, loose bubbly head that only rises to a quarter finger at best and has little to no retention. The lightest and most minute lace ends up on the glass but it is barely worth mentioning.
S: Getting a fair amount of tropical fruit in the nose. Good amount of pineapple and grapefruit mostly. There is a very little amount of pine resin here in the nose as well. Other than that, there is nothing really more in nose here. A bit disappointing.
T: Taste is a little like the nose. This does have the most pronounced amount of pineapple flavor I have had in a beer. Behind that I am getting a little bit of grapefruit meat and orange skin. There is yet again a little bit of pine resin coming out as well. Touch of brown sugar and caramel make an appearance. Tasty.
M: Medium bodied but I am getting very little carbonation here. Carbonation is very low and leaves this a little more creamy than I was expecting. ABV brings a little bit of warmth on the throat but otherwise is not noticed. Slightly drying on the finish. Aftertaste is pineapple and grapefruit.
D: Hmmm, maybe I had a bad bottle with these carbonation issues. The weird part is that I can see the carbonation in the glass but otherwise it isn't noticeable. The flavors and aroma suffers here and they are all pretty muted. This isn't what I was expecting or led to expect. Shit happens I suppose, still an easy drinking beer, its just under carbed and more sweet than bitter.

A: Poured from the bomber into a Duvel tulip. Body is slightly hazy orangey-amber (closer to orange) with a 2-finger whitish head with good retention.
S: Very nice -- fresh-squeezed grapefruit and oranges. Some pine.
T: Resiny hops. Citrus: oranges, candied oranges and grapefruit. Some sweeter caramel malt underneath. Heat and a bit of peppery spice at the back end of the sip. It's especially noted with the first sip. Palate is coated with bitterness that lasts and lasts. . . .
M: Resiny and somewhat oily.
D: OK. I've had better DIPAs in the taste and feel department, though this one is a winner to this nose.

Left Coast Hop Juice is a golden ale that's cloudy to the point of being opaque. I can see a fair amount of bubbles floating up; enough to keep the head from collapsing. It's a frothy, bubbly, yellowish off white head that leaves lacing that's going to be a challenge to wash off the glass. It has a nice, big, hoppy aroma. It smells a little sweet. It seems citrusy, floral and grassy. Yum, sweet hop syrup! It's pretty full bodied and very smooth. The finish is just a bit sticky. The sweetness from the aroma is much more subdued in the flavor. There is a major black pepper flavor going on to help remind me of the ABV. Yeah, it's quite bitter but it's balanced out. The event sequence of the taste is unexpected. The alcohol taste comes up front and then the sweetness follows right along with the bitterness. Overall, the hop flavor comes off as more floral than citrusy. That's not to say that the image on the bottle of the hop sliced open to reveal citrus segments isn't clever. There is a slight hint of diacetyl but I have to think about it to detect it. There's nothing subtle here. A bunch of booze and a bunch of hops and it's hard to go wrong. This seems like what Ithaca Flower Power wants to be when it grows up.

Bottle, home. Surprisingly good DIPA. This beer pours a medium amber with a smallish white head. The aroma is quite good, a mix of a variety of hop flavors - mostly floral and citric. There's a touch of caramel malt, but this is clearly a hop ride from the outset. The flavor is pretty much all big chewy hops. I guess it's dry, but it's hard to taste much beyond the hops. If that's not your cup of hop tea, then you won't like this beer much. There was a definite paint thinner note when the beer was colder, but it fades to further hoppiness as it warmed up. Mouthfeel is a bit rough, but them's the breaks with hop juice. Super hoppy DIPA.

Poured bomber into snifter. 1st off the ABV is 9.4%, not 7.6%.
A - Pours a nice 2 finger head that dissipates to a covering that leaves amazing lacing down the glass. Color is a hazy (unfiltered) bright orange.
S - I get apples, peaches and pears with possibly a hint of smokiness.
T - Carmel malts up front, probably due to the thick feeling on the palate. Then holy bitterness... Definite smoky aftertaste. Can't get much fruit as a DIPA usually produces.
M - Heavy, heavy, heavy. Leaves a coating around the entire mouth (tongue, cheeks, teeth included).
D - Not very drinkable for a DIPA, probably a 1 and done. I might even want to split this bottle if I ever get one again being in New England this one was brought back from a coworker on a business trip.

pours a golden/apple juice hue with a one finger head. very crisp, fresh aroma. like smelling the great outdoors! This baby tasted great. It's not called hop juice for nothing! great dry, bitter flavors backed by very little malt (not much you can taste at least), yet contains surprisingly great body. Also some citrus notes floating around that seem to balance out the drier hop aspects. it's thick (not to mention the low carbonation) and makes the hoppiness easier to consume. They say you should drink hoppy beers at the freshest, this tasted damn fresh, or just really hoppy. While I think there are a few better DIPAs out there, this is definitely entering my list of good ones. Its intention is to give you a hoppy beer, nothing else. It's not out of control, but very focussed for how much hops are in here. I'm really enjoying this first bottle. I'm definitely getting more.

A-pours a very hazy golden yellow liquid with a thin bubbly off white head that dissipates quickly leaving some lace on the glass.
S-the nose is relatively big and brings a very strong aroma of pine resign along with a fair amount of malt in the form of brown sugar and a touch of caramel.
T/M-this is extremely thick and syrupy. almost too syrupy. the taste is a mix of burnt sugar, pine resign, caramel, and a bitter hop finish. very different.
D-it is too syrupy to really enjoy which makes it almost like a resignous blast of sugar and pine like it came straight from the tree.
