Poured from a bottle. Not at all what I was expecting. Not sure if this is a bad bottle, or if this is what was intended. Doesn't seem like an imperial brown ale, more like a sour brown. I was expecting a richer, more chocolatey brown ale. This pours a murky brown with a very thin beige head. The color gets darker deeper into the glass. Aroma is somewhat sweet and tart, maybe even a little smoky with subtle coffee notes. Taste is sour with some chocolate and sweetness, somewhat reminiscent of Butterfinger, but way too sour to taste much like it. Medium mouth feel with quite a bit of carbonation that makes it feel lighter. Overall a decent beer if this is what was intended, but it should be advertised that way.
