Appearance: Medium orange body with a small head and a bit of lacing
Smell: Relatively modest nose - a bit of citrus hoppiness, but not much
Taste: Very light profile of both malt and hops - nothing very pronounced.
Mouthfeel: Light mouthfeel and medium carbonation
Drinkability: Very drinkable and refreshing but not particularly distinctive. With a fairly low malt profile, I am wondering whether the recipe has changed from the previous taster one year ago. To my taste buds, this was more like an Irish Red Ale than an American Amber.
Serving type: on-tap

The more I try this beer the more I like it. The local minor league baseball team also has it on-tap as their name is the Hickory Crawdads.
Sampled from a 2 day old growler.
Ruby in color with some golden hues. Crystal clear. Nice foamy 2 finger head that quickly subsided. Minimal lacing.
Faint musk and grassy smell. Not much there though.
Taste is very good cold. Lot's of caramel sweetness with a grassy finish. Not very complex but it works and taste good. As the beer warms a buttery taste starts to dominate.
Mouthfeel is thin.
Overall a very drinkable beer that is great to session on a minor league ball teams Thursty Thursday.

Had this back home in july, talk about sitting on some notes!
Poured amber/red with a 2 fingers off white head. Great lacing & good head retention
S: Fruitty with slight grainyness
T: Fruitty with slight hop bite. Finishes fruitty & dry
MF: Creamy with nice carbonation
Drinks pretty easy, but just an okay red

This beer was good on cask. It was slightly warmer than typical cask but I got my pint late and it was about the last pint in the cask. The smell was not much different than the regular. The taste was creamier. The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy. I could certainly drink this again an cask.

Crawdad Red would be an homage to the local minor league team, the Hickory Crawdads. In my opinion, the baseball team is better than the beer. Nothing great about this choice, whic I tried as part of a 4 ounce sampler at the brewpub. Little carbonation or lacing. Avergae tastes and mouthfeel at best. Much better choices available from Olde Hickory.
