12oz bottle, pours black with ruby hues when held to a light, foamy tan head sticks around for a while. Aromas are similar to tastes: roasted barley, chocolate, creamed coffee, finishes slightly dry. Medium bodied and smooth. Overall, nothing wrong with this Irish stout, but nothing special about it either.

I had this a few weeks ago, and I hated it. I figured it was because I already had a few beers in me at the time, so I decided to try it again yesterday, nothing changed.
A: Pitch Black, looks almost like a Guinness, which is promising.
S: Malty, earthy, coffee like, so far so good, not overpowering either.
T: This is where everything goes south. Wayyy too strong and over powering for my liking, extra bitter and just coffee like. Its like drinking the strongest coffee ever brewed, but in beer form.
M: Super heavy in the mouth, not only that, but it also didn't sit well in my stomach. I felt like crap after drinking it, made be slightly ill on both occasions that i tried it
O: Not my cup of tea. When I have trouble drinking a beer, then you know there is a problem. Tried to give the rest of the six pack away, but everyone who tried it didn't like it. Ended up putting it in an elevator.
If I'm looking for an Irish Stout, I'm gonna get Guinness. It's a shame too cuz I like George Killian's Red Ale fine. This one didn't do it for me, if you like overly strong and heavy beer that doesn't sit well in ur stomach, then go right ahead, but I'm gonna pass.

The beer pours a pitch black color with a thick frothy tan head that slowly fades to lacing. The aroma is decent. It has a thin, earthy, black malt scent that's bone dry and bitter and so good. The taste is decent as well. Again, it has a bone dry, black malt flavor. It's pretty one sided and lacks any real complexity, but it drinks fantastic. The mouthfeel is fine. It is a medium/full bodied beer with adequate/good carbonation. This is a very accessible Irish stout that great for those who want something a little lighter than Guiness.

In all honesty, I think this is a terrible rendition of an Irish stout. This beer is not even in the same league with the likes of regular canned or bottled Guinness. While it does have some of the coffee and chocolate notes one would expect from an Irish stout, the skunky finish kills all of what little one might be able to savor from the "malts". Additionally, it's over-carbonated which only further distracts from the malt.

A - Poured an adequate head. Black, but not pitch black but more of a really dark brown.
S - Smelled a touch sweet, not rich, not strong, surely not arrogant, but was overall pleasant regardless of being mild.
T - watery and weak. It made me think "stout lager". It bore stout likeness but I have a hard time believing it really.
M - not enough. I think that sums it up.
O - As a previous review read, its an entry level stout. Killians Irish Red is a good conversion beer to get the typical Bud drinkers to the "Dark Side" that is always better on tap than in a bottle. If this follows that model, I look forward to a tap version, but the bottle I had left me with the idea they want to hit a broader market than they will get with this one for long term.
I would drink it again, but not gonna be in a hurry. Not when New Hollands Poet & Dragons Milk are availble and I have my own Stouts aging in my basement.

Pours a dark brown with at least a finger of head that enjoyed some retention on the edges of the glass. The nose is pretty bland and the taste is similar. There is some roast and dryness on the finish, but this offering is nothing to write home about.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass.
A - Dark black, about a finger of tan head. Minimal lacing, but the head lasts.
S - Chocolatey, toasty malt, bit of coffee, but not burnt as you might see a lot with this kind of beer.
T - Chocolate and caramel with the light coffee. A touch of biscuity/breadiness, with a touch of hops balancing it all out.
M - Medium-heavy body, not dry, with a bit of cozy oiliness. Medium carbonation.
O - Overall, I was actually impressed considering what I was expecting. It's almost like a light stout. Enjoyed it more than regular Killian's.

A - Very dark brown. With a decent head.
S - Nice light roast. Subtle chocolate malt.
T - Taste matches the nose. Light roast for stout. Chocolate malt with coffee.
M - Medium dry mouth feel. Little light for stout.
O - Went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. Probably would good entry stout. Nothing is too overpowering.

Appearance - Pours opaque black with a tan 2 finger head. Good retention. Leaves behind a thin layer of microbubbles on the surface. Lacing is spotty with fair stick.
Smell - Moderate chocolate tones. Mild roasty aroma.
Taste - Follows the nose. Moderate notes of chocolate and touches of coffee near the finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with fair carbonation. Goes down easy, with a semi-dry finish.
Overall - Solid stout. Simple, but a nice, consistent flavor. Decent body. Nice sessionable stout.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a black color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is mild, some roasted malts., not a lot of aroma.Taste is smokey, roasted malts, very light coffee. Feels light in the mouth and overall this is a decent beer but nothing special.

I was given this by a family member to try.
Poured into a pint glass. Good black color with no light penetration. One inch light tan head, decent lacing.
Very subdued smell, not muted, but not very strong. Pleasant malty smell, but not what you'd expect of a stout.
The taste blew me away. Initial taste was the malty sweetness and coffee overtones, but the aftertaste was like eating bakers semi-sweet chocolate. The chocolate lasts on your tongue well after you've swallowed.
Mouthfell was ok, not overly thin but not as thick and satisfying as I would have liked or expected.
Overall much better than I was expecting from a Killian's product. Although I've all but written off the Irish Red, I believe I will actually grab some more of these.

I bought this one twice now, fair price, fair quality to have around the house.
Pours dark black, tan head that does maintain and sticky lace as well.
Aroma of roasted malt, toffee, coffee bean and earth.
Taste is toffee sweet with coffee notes, roasted malt, dark toast, and even buttered biscuit.
Mouthfeel was very smooth, nice though no hop bite.
Overall a smooth drinkable stout at a good price.

not bad considering the price, twenty dollars for the case!Quite surprizing considering I can't stand the 'irish red'so overall it's worth the trouble! not quite a Guiness but if your in the market for a budget stout for entertaining for the St. Patrick"s day holiday this is a good selection!you could spend a whole lot more on an Irish stout that people would'nt appreciate anyway,so if your going to buy for a crowd just to make a point you might as well go cheap! If not just go and buy the best for yourself!

Poured from a bottle into a tumbler pint, the beer is a dark, almost black with ruby highlighting. Slight, light, frothy, off-white head that settles into a ring on the surface. Aromas of smoke and roast, with a coffee backbone and earthy overtones. Flavors are heavily roasted, with a touch of peat to it, overriding a bitter, dry coffee backbone. Good, oaky charring at the end of the palate and into the aftertaste. Bitter and roasty throughout. Light and dry in mouth, with a dry, clean finish.

A - Poured out a jet black color with a one-finger, tan head of foam. It left little to no lacing.
S - It smelled of flaked oats and chocolate.
T - Sweet chocolate and flaked oats with a touch of caramel. Just enough bitterness to balance it out.
M - It was crisp, sharp and smooth. A light to medium bodied stout.
O - This is a nice Irish Stout. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality.

Poured from a 12oz. bottle into a standard pint glass.
Opaque black in color, with a nice, abeit airy, head of tan foam.
Aroma-faint roasted malt
Taste-Black coffee, roasted malt, dry black coffee finish. Not a bad attempt, but a bit thin in both body and flavor, probably for more mass appeal to the "average" Killian's drinker.

George Killian’s Irish Stout has a thick, beige head, a dark brown appearance (almost black), and some nice, heavy lacing left behind. The aroma is of rich, dark-roasted malt and brown bread crust. Taste is of sweet, rich, brown bread and crust, some coffee, a shade of dark cherry, and pleasant, bitter hops. There might even be some cream or milkiness in the flavor. Mouthfeel is medium and edging on heavy, and the finish is dry, mellow, and delicious. Overall, this is another winner from Molson-Coors. You should try this one, for sure!

I got this at Piggly wiggly, I drank the first one out of a glass and the others out of a bottle, just as food as Rhodes Scholor stout in my opionion at a fraction of the price. I'm guessing the alchohol is close to 6% judging by my current buzz after 4 of them in about 90 mins. I'll definitely get this again.

12 ounce bottle - $1.29 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.
An assumed 'Best By' date on the bottle neck showing JUL1513.
Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a medium-small, brief, beige head.
Smell: Lightly roasty, faintly chocolaty, a little coffee.
Taste: Again, lightly roasty, faintly chocolaty, a little coffee. Restrained sweetness. Very slight milky tone. Light bittering hop character. Dryish, reasonably smooth finish, minor char in the aftertaste.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: George Killian's Irish Stout offers thoughtless, perfunctory quaffability.

I noticed its smell right away, a hint of chocolate covered by that rich deep stout aroma. Good job finally killans! An affordable stout that you can actually taste and not feel so weighted down after trying it.
When you pour it out , it comes out with a nice 3 inch head foamey a little but stays at the top.

A- Pours deep mahogany to black in color. Rather large, 2.5 finger head that is dense and frothy. Retention is tremendous, while lacing is a solid wall down the glass. Hints of red around the edge of the body when held to the light.
S- Lots of dark roasts that are slightly bitter right off the bat. These morph into sweeter flavors with a hint of chocolate. Finishes with a slight metallic hint on the back end.
T- Pretty much spot on with the scent. Starts with deep, dark roasts. Next comes a very dry, slightly bitter, yet strangely still sweet chocolate malt flavor. Very solid flavor profile right up to the end, then the metallic flavor in the scent rears its ugly head.
M- Starts with a thick and creamy feel, but towards the end, it gets watery. Not too heavy across the palate, with low levels of carbonation.
Overall, starts out awesome, then comes back down to the typical MillerCoors quality. Looks and smells great, minus the metallic scent. Without the watery feel and metallic flavor towards the end, this is a pretty good beer, but with it, it's just average.

Poured into a shaker pint.
Look: Typical oily dark chocolate color. Cream colored head. Decent rings of lacing,
Aroma: Extremely metallic, roasted malts, and coffee.
Taste: Best feature. Chalky dark chocolate, burnt malts.
Mouthfeel: Medium weight, chalky.
Overall: Lots of chalk taste but it's chocolatey. Not bad but it has a stigma as a Coors product, and that's a shame.

Best before July 15, 2013 stamped on the bottle, my pour left me very nearly the perfect pour for a Stout. Black, with a +1 finger head of billowy foam. Very nice.
The smell department is a bit lacking. I made nasal noises trying to pull aromas out but all I can get is a hint of some roasted malt.
The taste, is another thing. Pretty bold flavours here of roasted malt, dark chocolate bitterness, a hint or 2 of coffee. A few more sips in and there's kind of a milk stout sweetness that peeks in now and then. This is quite good.
To me, this is close to full bodied with the right amount of carbonation.
Overall, a very nice surprise here. Not as dry as most of the Irish Dry Stouts I've tried but it's in the ballpark and when I come right down to it, it pleases my palate and is easy drinking. Well done.

Poured a dark brown hue with amber edges capped by a two finger foamy off white head. There was good retention and decent lacing.
The smell featured light roasted malts, a light caramel and some charcoal.
The taste consisted of a moderate roasted malt, dry coffee and clean charcoal. Decent residual roastiness.
The mouthfeel was toward the lighter side of he style with a dry finish.
Overall better than I expected. A nice low cost alternative.
