12 oz bottle, pours amber with amazing clarity, tall bubbly white head fades slowly, no lacing is left on the glass. Minimal aroma, faint toasty grain, faint yeast, grass, earth. Tastes are toasted grain, earthy, grassy hops, caramel. Light-medium body, moderate carbonation, finishes semi bitter with a sourish earthiness. Overall, wasn't sure what to expect with this one, but it doesn't deliver.

This is really a terrible beer. Maybe in the style of a marzen it would get a little bit of better rating from me. But it comes off as a Miller High Life with red food coloring, a few days over the best-by date. It's really a shame that the price point for this is inline with other premium craft-style BMC selections. Nobody should have to pay that much for this.

Poured from a 12 ounce twisty bottle into a Shaker pint glass. The label proclaims that the beer is a "Gold Medal Award Winner". A moderate pour produces about 3/4 inch of an off-white froth that hangs out for awhile, coating the glass with wispy remnants of lace. The beer is a pale copper or amber in color, with a fair amount of carbonation.
Faint floral hops are detectable in the aroma, along with perhaps a subdued cooked corn character along with the pale malt. There's some complexity in the taste, with biscuity malt tones, a slight bit of sourness/sweetness, and a splash of bitterness on the tongue before a pretty clean finish. The mouth feel is fairly thick and creamy for a lager beer.
This beer is easy drinking and refreshing, yet provides good complexity for the style.

A buddy of mine brought this over for an evening BBQ.
I drank it out of the bottle the way I would any lager while I'm standing over my grill. In the vein of summertime beers I think this one holds its own. I'd put it on par with Fat Tire or Dos X. If you're filling a cooler with something to drink at the lake or a BBQ you could do a lot worse than Third Shift.
Appearance: Amber and translucent--what you'd expect for this type of beer
Smell: A pleasant sour maltiness
Taste: Solid lager taste, not amazing but very drinkable.
Mouthfeel: This is a very wet beer. There's not much body to it at all. When you're chugging it to rinse a jalepeno popper out of your mouth though, that's a good thing.
I'd buy this for a party where I needed low-cost but tasty beverage options for a crowd.
