Poured into a chalice.

A: Ruby red/meroon and moderately opaque. Pours with a pinkish-white head.

S: Heady and winelike. Sweetish and a bit tart.

T: Red wine booziness and bitterness with a little sweetness on the end. There's a hint of wheat but the wine shows through very strongly. Strongly enough that if you were going to drink this, you might want to reconsider and just have a glass of red wine.

M: Champagne-y and prickly.

O: It's carbonated red wine. I appreciate a brewery trying to do something different but even though Impulse is decent it's very unbalanced. Worth a try if you can find it on the cheap.

A - clear gold with a soft, thin lacing of white head that disappears quickly

S - cereal grains, very faint grapes

T - cereal grains, sweet, grapes, alcohol

M - viscous, medium bodied, warm, smooth, well carbonated

This is a rather boring beer. It's primarily grainy and grape-y. It doesn't have any spice to indicate it's a Witbier nor does it offer any depth of flavor. It is easy to drink and non-offensive so in that respect it gets some bonus points for a Blue Moon offering, but otherwise disappointing and forgettable.

Impulse by Blue Moon Brewing Company pours a beautiful mahogany color and is capped by a light pink head. As the foam subsides, the beer takes on more a red wine look. Very appealing. The Cabernet grapes provide the lion's share of the aromas, with just a hint of wheat hidden underneath. The blend is quite delicious. Wheat and base malts meld seamlessly into an almost sparkling grape juice finish. Medium-light in carbonation, the interesting brew features quite a bit of carbonation.

served from a bottle into 2 glasses (one for a friend and one for me)

This is a beautiful, dark, maroonish red. It has wonderful carbonation but is lacking a head (as is to be expected after my first experience with blue moon's wine-beer style, proximity)

The smell is less than what I had hoped from the look of it. Bits of fermented grape, slightly sweet, and even a hint of some wheat. Smells like wine and beer (duh).

You can definitely taste the wine in this. Honestly, I was surprised at how much i am enjoying this. I did not like Proximity at all, and I expected much of the same disappointment for this. Because of this maybe i have a bit of a bias because of the pleasant surprise. You can taste the sweet red grapes, slight alcohol burn, a slight bitter taste, and everything seems to work together, at least well enough to enjoy once.

The mouth feel is light and smooth, but it leaves a bit of a sticky sensation at the back of the throat, which i do not particularly enjoy.

overall this was a decent beer. It resembled more of a sparkling red wine than a beer, but for the style it at least fit relatively well. It tasted pretty good, and it wouldnt be a wasted buy if you find it at a good deal (like i did).

A - Impulse pours red with a little pink head that disappears quickly--fantastic look!

S -Smells of a cab red wine, but still retains some of the wheat beer nose.

T - The nice thing about using a less sweet grape like a Cabernet Sauvignon is that is doesn't make this beer fall into the malt beverage sweetness of other beer wine combinations. Great taste wine taste with a little wheat spice at the end.

M - Impulse capitalizes on my enjoyment of Red wine with it's mouthfeel; a rich but refreshing smoothness that leads to a dryness with plenty of carbonated bubbles.

O - This is what a blended beer and wine should taste like! I know it is hard for BA reviewers to give a beer from Coors a fair shake, but this one is worth trying if you love both beer and red wine!
