T: this is blue moon with its breads, lemon and orange peel citrus and grain flavor paired with a floral, mildly bitter/grassy note.

M: light body and high carbonation.

Overall: not much change from the blue moon base beer but the change hurts drinkability and adds little elsewhere.

Appearance: Clear semi deep gold
Aroma: Some banana esters with a wheat and hop bittering towards the end. Some citrus notes as well
Mouthfeel: light body
Overall: Great tasting spring ale. Very close to a summe beer because of how easy drinking it is. The little bit of flavor really makes this beer stand out.

16 ounce pint - $4.50 at Taco Mac in Canton, Georgia.

Appearance: Served up a clear, dark yellow body with a scant, white head. Okay.

Smell: Citrus flavoring additives layered over some mild malted wheat hints. Not much going on here.

Taste: Moderately sweet taste of pale and wheat malts flavored with citrus. Very, very vague notion of honey water. Hint of perceived acidity. Very low bitterness. More flavorings on the semi-dry finish. It has an unappealing taste that, after even the first sip, leaves the rest of the pint seeming like work to just fight through.

Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.

Overall: Not so good, really, and even a slight step down from the previous Rising Moon.

A: Pale gold color. Poured a 2 finger white foamy head that fell quickly to a broken skim. Decanted continually. Minimal lacing.

S: Orange and lemon. Slightly sweet wheat malt. Very muted nose.

T: Citrus flavors consistent with the nose; though slightly sweet. Malt character very muted. finishes a little dry.

M: Light body. Moderate carbonation. A bit of a sweet, sticky feel. Little hop character (though ok for style).

O: Nothing flawed, but nothing really sets the beer apart.

Had (NOT enjoyed) on-tap @ the Hardshell Cafe in Soulard- Downtown St. Louis. Beer was tapped from a Bright Green Handle w/ "Seasonal- Spring Ale" under the blue Moon sign & poured into a Pint Glass.

Appearance- Pale, Golden color with 1 finger of head. Huge bubbles of Carbonation and no retention on the head. Lace gradually smears down the sides of the glass.

Smell- You can smell signs of the yeast and grain but nothing else... There is an alcohol scent as well.

Taste- There is a bit of an orange/lemon twist to it now but not good for this type of style (I wish they did give me a lemon with this one to mask the flavor!)

Mouthfeel- Light Bodied, Light Viscosity, Watery, and Dull. Nothing makes this beer anything special...

Overall- They really missed the mark on this one. It does have a strong wheat taste but it is going to be a struggle to finish even a pint of this. Blue Moon isn't a bad beer but anything they try to brew otherwise, Honey Moon, this Spring ale, etc. turns out very rough to drink and missing many qualities of making it a decent ale.

S- Light wheat and faint citrus, its not improving any.

T- Watered down wheat and lemon cough drops, no hops present.Ok it got worse

Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.

A - Very clear gold, with a fizzy two-finger white head with next to zero retention. Mere specks for lacing. For a wheat beer, I did expect a thicker head.

S - Clean mild aroma of wheat and a little tangerine. Mild, but doesn't smell bad at all.

T - Taste matches the nose, with the wheat malt clearly leading the show here, lending a multi-grain bread flavor. Fruitiness becomes much more generic than in the nose, tasting reminiscent of orange scented wood polish. Hops don't really balance the wheat as well as they should, but they do add just a hint of spice. Hint of adjunct dextrins, but not overwhelmingly so. Overall flavor profile is clean and mild.

M - Things improve here, as the flavor profile would have you expect lots of water...instead you have a pretty full bodied beer for the style. Prickly carbonation. Finishes very "wet", with a mouth-coating finish.

O - I'm not exactly sure why the other reviews slam this beer THAT badly. It's a little bland and certainly nothing to write home about, but it's not really terrible either. Am I buying it again? No. But I wouldn't turn down a free one if someone offered.

Pours out a lighter and more clarity kind of liquid than would be expected using wheat. Might be less than 50% of the malt bill. Less than impressive head retention, it started out about 1" deep, but where it went, nobody knows. Put it at that mildly dark golden color.

Aroma had a little of the kafir lime thought playing in my head, they used the same color label, mind playin' tricks on me. Either way, citrus is welcome, even if not necessarily 'good'.

Taste, meh. Weird bitterness, lack of wheat flavor or texture. Jeez, could they overdo the carbonation a little harder on this one? Explosive (insert dre drums). MIld caramel mouthfeel if you can get past the club soda tendencies in this one. Still has that tart lime thing going along with a bit of mineral water bitterness.

They really went after a blonde ale, dropped a smidge of wheat, dropped a ton of carbonation, maybe a lime wedge. That's this beer.

I respectfully dissent.

A: The beer pours a golden body with a thin white head.

S: I really cant tell what I am picing up. I am getting a bit of grain and corn I guess. I just cant really tell.

T: Tastes a lot like a malt liquor with a fainter flavor. Has a corn and wheat flavor too. Really nothing much but not terrible.

M: Has your typical garbage cabonation that most BMC beers have. It is pretty crisp and has a full body.

O: I just dont get how people buy this stuff. It is flavorless and just doesnt feel like beer to me. Ill never try this again.

12 oz bottle served cold in a snifter.

Pours a clear golden-amber color with a small off-white head that soon reduces to a lasting ring.

The aroma is weak: wheat, hops and some faint malt in the background. More flavor than aroma. In addition to the components detected by nose, there is a light citrus/lemon quality and a grassy note. T = 2.75

M: light body; nicely dry finish; good, medium carbonation.

O: highly drinkable alternative to a light beer. Certainly works as an accompaniment to yard work and summer weather. Not much flavor or aroma here, but no striking flaws in this refreshing brew.

A 6-er I picked up while grabbing a parcel State side... Not much selection at the border store.

A - Pours a crystal clear golden colour, finger of head with little retention and no real lacing.

S - Loads of biscuit notes, cereal, bready malts and hints of orange and citrus rind.

T - Mild flavoured dominated by cereal and biscuit notes, the orange and citrus flavours are barely detectable and the wheat notes linger on the finish.

M - Medium bodied, a tad prickly going down and finishes wet.

O - My expectations weren't that high, but I must admit I was a tad disappointed. The citrus and orange notes were barely detectable, and the cereal malts were overwhelming. This was more reminiscent of a light adjunct than a flavoured wheat ale. I wouldn't go out of my way to try this again.

A - dark golden yellow; soft, white head; quickly fades to a thin lacing

S - grainy, a hint of metal

T - grainy up front with an odd finish that offers a flash of citrus that disappears as fast as it comes on; a hint of apples; very faint grass

M - light bodied, smooth, a bit crisp

This is a rather poor offering from the Blue Moon line. It's one dimensional and offers little besides grains. Avoid.

Appearance: Pours light yellow with a 1 finger head.
Smell: Not much there. Some malty notes with a hint of sweet wheat.
Taste: Pretty mild beer, but not bad at all. The wheat notes are faint but pleasant and add a refreshing note to this beer. The orange and lemon notes are hard to pick up on, or taste. Over all a refreshing beer with no lingering characteristics.
Mouthfeel: Highly carbonated, with a thin mouthfeel.
Overall: I think this beer hits the mark for a slightly more interesting take on something like a Coors Light, etc. This is not an epic beer, or a complex beer but I think for a day on the golf course this beer would be great.

Blue Moon Spring Blonde Wheat Ale has a very thick, fluffy, slightly off-white head and a clear, yellow-golden appearance, with some bubbles and little-to-no lacing. The aroma is faint, but one can detect a touch of lemon zest and white bread. Taste is of white wheat bread, lemons, orange, and just a pin-prick of hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium and somewhat soft, and Blue Moon Spring Blonde Wheat Ale finishes refreshing, tasty, and easy drinking. Although neither wheat or flavored beers are for me, I think this one is pretty good.

Let me first start off this review saying that i am a fan of Coors banquet beer in relativity to other "big domestics". That being said, i am not a fan of their blue moon products. Especially this particular ale.

Appearance- Poured from a bottle, it presented a pale color with a thin soapy head that dissipated almost instantly. Heavily carbonated with little head was the first red flag..

Smell- Stale. Overwhelming notes of barley and malt. Miniscule notes of "orange and lemon" as advertised.

Taste- Sour. Malty with an artificially citrusy aftertaste. Bearable, but not enjoyable.

Mouthfeel- Could barely feel my mouth due to excessive carbonation. I felt like i was drinking a talking rain tainted with malt liquor.

pours out a pale gold colour with a minimal white head and sparse lace. faint malt aroma with hints of orange and lemon. taste is a crisp combination of strained wheaty graininess and malt, with an uninspired dose of citric notes. i think there may be a splattering of bitterness, but it gets lost in the wash. crisp mouthfeel on top of a medium to light body. ok drinkability...it has a somewhat quenchable characteristic to it.

overall this is a dumbed down version of a wheat ale that has very little redeeming virtue to it. quenching, yes. satisfying, no. weak, obvious.

Pours a transparent straw color with negligble head in spite of the vigorous carbonation. Aroma is bare and unappealing. Mouthfeel is perky on account of the carbonation, but the flavor is thin and watery, tasting of dilute, mass-produced wheat flavoring and mild cleaning solvent. This tastes almost like a Coors Light but with less purpose or identity. One of the most watered down beers I've tasted, and utterly forgetable if not for its inadequacy.

A timid approach to wheat beers or blonde ales yields a lager-ish flavor with fruity sweetness and cereal grains to appease lovers of American light lagers and dragging them slowly into the craft beer world kicking and screaming.

The bright golden beer proves to be heavily carbonated as bubbly streams of carbonation struggle to fuel even the most timid of foam character. No lacing and low retention leaves little to celebrate outside of the misplaced bright golden color.

Grainy sweet with flavors of cereal (and I mean actual cereal like Cap'n Crunch and Fruity Pebbles) along with the over sparged flavor of raw barley and grain husks. Somewhat fruity with the taste of pez candies and also the zesty fruit of orange zest and mild spice may be yeast derived but may be from flavor additions as the beer does carry and artificial sweetness that doesn't come natural to the brewing processes.

Zesty creaminess of the initial sip is lively and spunky, but the prickle of carbonic bite fades quickly and reveals a sugary sweet feel and mild grain astringency that supplants alcohol warmth or spicy dryness.

Sweeter and fruitier than the run-of-the-mill light lager, but I can see the beer finding favor in the lover of those lagers who seek a more summery tone.

Poured from bottle stamped JUL0912 to a Duvel tulip the beer pours a clear golden straw color with 1/2 finger white head with little retention or lacing. Looks average, really. The smells follows suit as there isn't much to report, a hint of wheat malt but that's about it. The flavor also is dominated by a strong wheat malt character, too much so. Little in terms of hop character or bitterness really. There isn't much aside from wheat. Adequately carbonated and light bodied. Overall, this is just an average beer. Not bad but not great. I'd easily pass on this again though it is easy to put down due to minimal taste, lol.

Into a pint glass:

A: clear blonde colored body, three finger worth of foamy white head after thirty seconds dies to film of a head, some foamy lacing graces the sides of the glass

S: wheat, lemon, light malts

T: sweet through previously mentioned flavor

M: medium, sessionable, some light harshness on the tongue, no aftertaste, yet a sweet finish

O: this is a beer is just a tad above average to me. Maybe not something I would rush out to buy but I think I would have it again

The beer poured with a thick 3/4 inch head but settled to a thin head moments later. Left moderate lacing through out the drink. The beer has a classic golden hue.

The smell is average. A hint of wheat but a little skunky too. There is nothing else there...no balancing sweetness or opposing citrus.

The flavor is okay, better than the smell but nothing to make me want to buy more. I taste the wheat base, there is very little malt flavor...in fact, there is almost no other flavor! But the wheat flavor is mild and finishes softly.

The mouthfeel is fine, not too carbonated and not too thick or thin, right down the middle.

Overall this beer is average to me. The smell and taste are not memorable, the beer is not that strong (5.4%) but I think it is smooth finishing and has some flavor to it. Would not recommend on a night out with friends but I am not going to thrown it under the bus driver from New Jersey either...

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle stamped JUL0912-CO5101620. Sampled on March 8, 2012. The best part about this beer is the way it looks with its golden yellow color, busy carbonation, clear clarity and small head. Beyond that the aroma is rather bland with a biscuti-like character and little else. The body is about right for the style as it falls into the light-medium range. The taste is also biscuit-like with a slightly bitter ending. I think it could have been better.

Poured from bottle into pint glass

Appearance – Pours a nice clear golden color. There is a billowy just off white head which fades quite fast to leave a thin white head on the top of the beer, but very little lacing on the sides of the glass

Smell – Citrus notes are most heavy up front. The larger of the citrus is orange with is mixed in with a bit of lemon. There is an ever so light bready-wheat aroma as well. Overall the aromas are quite light.

Taste – Malty wheat sweetness and caramel are the first flavor to meet the tongue. It is rather surprising from the nose which is stronger in the citrus. The citrus in the taste comes more toward the middle and the end and is actually quite light. It is a very smooth and subtle taste transition, although the taste does lack much of the complexity of the other blue moon brews as well as other beers of similar style.

Mouthfeel – The body is of light to medium thickness. It passes the tongue very quickly. The carbonation is a bit on the high side, but good for the style and body type. It’s feel makes it very easy to down.

Overall – The beer has a nice flavor, but for the most part is rather one dimensional. It’s refreshing and one for a hot day perhaps.
