Appearance: Pours out a lightly hazed, honey-hued body with nearly two fingers worth of rich foam that fades but never disappears.
Smell: Honey accents ahead of the pale maltiness trailed by notes of leafy green, citrusy, spicy hops.
Taste: Honey-brushed maltiness with a thin hint of lightly toasted grain. Moderately sweet throughout. Lemony, leafy, herbal hops with ample bitterness to balance it out, or so I thought, as the sweetness makes a last-minute rebound before the finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium carbonation.
Overall: It'll do in a pinch!

This one was crystal clear and had a brownish/golden hue to it, mild carbonation and it was topped off with an off white head that quickly thinned out into a small congregation of bubbles. It did have some mild lacing. Overall, this beer looked nice and inviting. The aroma was a bit thin, some roasted wheat mixed in with roasted hops came through, but I couldn’t pick up much else. The taste was really good, smooth throughout and a mild hops flavor dominated the beer, some mild citrus flavors like orange zest are present. Bitter all around but the bitterness isn’t overwhelming. The aftertaste has a mild hoppy and alcohol taste but it’s easy to swallow. By the way, this beer has a light-to-medium mouth feel. Overall not bad, I personally wouldn’t buy this one on a regular basis, but I do have to say you’ve got to try this one.

Bought in a mixed six pack chilled at a grocer and poured chilled into a Perfect Pint.
A=Very nice...darker golden amber color with ample white frothy head.
S=Faint bread smell with hint of corn and sweetness.
T=Nice malt presence with the first sip...flavor is present, but a bit lighter than I anticipated. A hint of hops...I am thinking that this might be an all-malt, or very close to it, but there is a hint of sweetness.
M=Excellent body with just the right amount (medium-light) carbonation.
O=I have another bottle to try, but, after first sample, I would definitely consider again. I prefer the robustness of an amber a bit more, but this would be my first choice if buying a lager for friends.
3/13 update...had served on tap at a local bar...was not nearly as good as I remembered it...I would have given it a 3 this time, so I am changing my taste to the average, or 3.5.

The beer pours brilliantly clear deep golden bordering on copper color with a thick white head that diminished to a thin skim yet left bits of lacing. A good looking beer. The aroma is moderate sweet malt, rather grainy, perhaps a hint of grassy hops. The flavor is medium-high grainy malt, a bit of spicy hop flavor and the finish is dry and crisp, with just a bit of sweet malt reemerging. The body is medium-light with medium-high carbonation. Overall this is a solid beer, in the pre-prohibition style I've had better, but worth picking up at least a single.

A 12oz bottle poured into a Sam Adams glass.
Nice pour, 1/2 of rich head on top of a perfectly golden body.
Light nose of bread, lemon and a little malt.
Decent flavor, light hops, some lemon and grass. Odd sourness in the finish.
Not bad overall, though not one of my favorite beer styles. This one was given to me, and if the next one is i'll drink it, but being a Coors product it isn't something i'll ever buy.

I had no idea this was a Coors product when I bought it so my perception of it was totally unbiased. Pours a coppery amber color with a decent frothy head. Aroma is subtle grain - mellow. Taste is malty with a decent hops tinge, and a bit of a peppery overtone. I don't know if they used adjuncts in this beer, I don't taste them but if they did, they were used very well. I think this is a pretty tasty beer and I would buy it again, one of the better lagers I've had actually.

12 oz. bottle tried 31 Oct 2011. Courtesy of (who else?) R&S. Thank you both. Served in the 0.4 L Radeberger mug.
Large bubbly off white head. Moderate carbonation. Clear deep gold in color. Aroma is grainy, citrus, mineral. Flavor starts quite similar to the aroma. Light sweet graininess through the middle. Touch of mineral. Medium body, light ethanol. Sweet lingering finish and aftertaste.
Quite easy to drink. Better than I thought it would be.

Taken from notes written 6 days ago
the color of
Poured from a 12oz bottle into a Blue Moon pint glass.
A- A medium/dark light brownish gold. Has a fat thick frothy head that is white in color and very bubbely. The head lingers for quite some time. The beer is clear enogh tht you can easily see the very high amount of bubbels rissing within it. It is clearly/visibly well carbonated.
S- Has a clean hoppy smell to it. The smell is also slightly malty giving it a little bit of a balance while definitely leaning more towards the hops. There is also a slight mineral coating to the aroma that smells a bit like rocks or concrete/granite.
T- There is a slightly pronounced hoppiness to this lager. The hoppiness is slightly bland however and not quite citrusy like many hop flavors are. It is a bit sweet with a slight breadiness to it and it ends with an incredibly mild tartness that lingers in your mouth.
M-This beer is crisp and light bodied. It has a very nice carbonation to it that borders on the edge of being slightly heavy.
O- This beer was much better than I expected. To the untrained palate this might almost seem like a weaker American Pale ale. Very flavorful and drinkable, the perfect light session beer.

12 fl oz bottle served in a pilsner glass, reviewed live:
A - Pours a transparent, dark gold color with a white two finger head. Retention is poor. Better looking than I expected, but still nothing special.
S - Mild, mild aroma. Some sweet pale malt and caramel is about all I get off this one. Disappointing to say the least.
T - Unrefined barley, stale cereal and a bit of oddly placed cream. It's a little more bitter on the finish from the generic hops, but this is the only thing that really differentiates this one from standard Coors. It's simple, uninspired, and in my opinion, just a marketing ploy.
M - Medium bodied, smooth, and strangely thick. It's o.k. at best.
D - Not a fan of this one. There's hardly anything that sets this apart from your everyday Coors. If you like the original, though, you won't be disappointed with this.

Prohibition was instituted with ratification of the Eighteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution on January 16, 1919, which prohibited the "...manufacture, sale, or transportation of intoxicating liquors within, the importation thereof into, or the exportation thereof from the United States...
Coors Archive Brewing Company introduces Batch 19, a per-Prohibition style lager, based on authentic recipes dating back to before all alcohol was banned. Batch 19 pours a golden-amber with a slim, light off-white head and a decent amount of lacing. A slight, yet malty nose is joined with somewhat surprising citrus hop notes. a semi-sweet malt profile meets the pallet before being balanced out by slightly spicy hop characteristics, all before leading into a crisp, clean finish. The beer is medium body with a lighter amount of carbonation. Thankfully Prohibition didn't last, but we believe Batch 19 will!

I can't believe I like a beer made by Coors. That's not a prejudice statement towards the big 3, I just honestly don't like beers made by Coors.
This is a nice color to match a grade A honey or light maple syrup. Clear and free of imperfections. Good amount of carbon bubbles that feed a lasting white head.
To back up the nice looks is a better smell and taste. Mild in flavors with malts that are faint and hinting. The hops are mild grainy hops. The taste is nice as it sits on your tongue as the sweetness comes and goes and leaves a nice slight bitterness.
Goes down smooth. I'll enjoy a lot of this beer.

an upgrade from other coors products this one is presented beautifully in unique glass. looks and smells a little darker than their usual stuff. this beer has a much more prominent malt profile than i was expecing, and it just has a whole lot more flavor than anything else ive tried from coors. its not a great beer, but it is drinkable. im always a fan of putting a little more oomph into a brew, and the same applies at the macro level. step in the right direction for coors.

12 oz twist-top bottle poured into a nonic.
5.5% ABV, NOV2811 printed on the neck. "Banned, definantly bold beer.", "Back, from the lost archives."
A - Golden yellow and crystal clear, Batch 19 is crowned by a tall, dense, and well-retained off-white head. Thick collars of lace remain clinging to the glass. A good start!
S - For the style, there's quite a healthy dose of lemon citrus hop character. Surprising to say the least. Toast and faint caramel character adds a good backbone while it finishes out with a little yeast mustiness.
T - Grainy pale malt and soft pilsner sweetness underline the earthy citrus American hop profile. Dry leaf and lemon citrus accents this one.
M - Batch 19 has a light body with a crisp, clean lager finish despite some of it's ale characteristics. Spritzy carbonation and a smooth body with a soft, dry bitterness on the finish.
O - Not too shabby, Batch 19's throw-back attitude and pre-prohibiton bandwagon-jumping are a bit gimmicky, but it's a drinkable brew. Not overly hoppy, but surprisingly so coming from the big guys. Good balance and nice finish.

Batch 19 is deep gold, with a fizzy off-white head that slowly falls to a patchwork film. A smattering of lace is left behind.
So this is what pre-Prohibition American beer was supposedly like? Not bad. 19 has a solid straw and dry grain backbone that's bolstered by a mild, yet balancing pepper bitterness. A very light honey sweetness sits in the background. The medium-light body has some substance to it and is rather dry. The carbonation feels about right. The beer finishes with lingering pepper and dry grain flavors.
Overall, Batch 19 is a nice little beer in a Schlitz Gusto sort of way. Although I doubt Coors will ever veer away from their more vapid staples, Batch 19 shows that they really can produce a decent beer.

This is out and about in bottles, but I have no idea for how long or what the distribution is like.
Pours a golden color that's almost amber'ish. Standard white head on top that dies down a little, but stays well carbonated like any good (mild) lager.
The nose is definitely hoppier than most. At first it has that noble herbal/earthy note, but then I get more of a pine-y US style of hop character. No slightly sour typical macro malt on the nose here. I don't think it's all-malt (this is intentional) but there's definitely some body here.
Not overly sweet, and certainly more hop forward than expected. Cereal-like on the front of the palate, but still pretty dry. No unripe banana like most adjunct-heavy lagers, and a fair amount of hop character.
Like the nose, the hops give the flavor a mix of old world and new. It doesn't really taste like any German lagers I've had (and I've had a lot) nor does it taste like any macro adjunct either. It reminds me a little of the Full Sail Session and LTD line, and conveniently mild.
Not bad at all, and a beer I'd go back to again for sure. It isn't the knockout that the other Coors "serious" lagers can be (AC Golden, Barmen Pils, Sandlot) but this is still pretty solid.
Hopefully, like Colorado Native, this will end up in cans.

Poured from 12 oz. bottle into 16 oz. tumbler. Unusual "prohibition-style" bottle marked NOV2811.
A: Bright, clear and golden, with 1/2" white head.
S: Pleasant malt aroma, slightly sweet and vegetal.
T: Well balanced between malt and hops, very slight lingering bitterness.
M: Crisp with carbonation, medium body, refreshing finish.
O: Pleasant and easy to drink, but does not stimulate nostalgia for pre-prohibition.

Thanks Ratman for giving me a bottle of this one the other day. Good refreshment for late afternoon. Poured a nice dark golden color with a good sized white head. Aromas of bread, cereal and light hops. On the palate, light bodied, with cereal, corn and bread.

Pours a standard one finger head, the head is almost pure white, maybe slightly off white, it is puttering away fairly fast, it's not a bad head though, from what I can tell from the head that has stuck around, it's good, decent lacing. The body is traditionally darker than a standard lager, it's a very unique color, almost a 50/50 mix between golden/yellow, and amber, I've never seen a beer like this before. For the most part this beer is transparent, but it is dark enough that it objects your view just a little bit. Overall....the head went away fast, but it left good foam and lacing, the body is mostly see through, but it's a really unique color, so overall the look is confusing - unique, bad in some areas, good in others, final conclusion - it looks good. Very good aroma, perfect balance between hops and malts, at least in terms of lagers. The malts come through first, and they are very sweet smelling, but not an offensive or overpowering sweet, it smells just right. Then the hops come through the smell a little bit in the second half of the aroma. Overall I would like the smell to be bigger, but I can't ask much more from Coors and an adjunct lager. Considering everything - this smells really good. Maybe a tiny bit of cheap adjuncts, but not really at all, maybe some honey in here in fact, which would be very nice, anyways, I'm ranting, like I said - good smell. The taste is very interesting, the first thing I get is malt, sweet malt, but like I thought on the smell, it's not offensive, it works with the beer very well. Then comes a nice hop bite, very small, but very noticeable as well. I do notice a nice honey flavor appearing in a few different places in this beer. Overall it's a very smooth, drinkable, tasty beer. The flavor isn't huge, but it really shouldn't be for the style. Overall it tastes really good. Mouthfeel is very good for a lager, not too much carbonation, it's just right, and it's not too watery in the mouth. Drinkability is very high, cause it's light and very tasty. Overall there really isn't anything wrong with this beer, is it outstanding? No, but it's very tasty and pretty dang good. I can't believe how high I rated this beer, considering it's made by Coors, but by gosh it deserves it.

Poured chilled in wine glass (all that was avail.)
A: cloudy light copper; no head; decent carbs; ok lacing
S: very light aroma, mostly malt
T: mildly hoppy, slightly sweet; complex, very strong flavor profile, but without an edge

A: Bright, clear golden color. Poured a fizzy white head with fair retention to a thin skim. Laced in small blotches. Decanted lightly.
S: Hay and grass. Faint note of wet grains.
T: Grainy malts up front. Yields quickly to a sharp bitter lending to an excellent balance and clean finish.

Sample bottle from the brewery, they are launching draft only for now ... not sure if they are ever going to bottle / can it.
Bubbly sea foam head, perfectly clear golden color. Fresh graininess leans towards a more rustic dried grass aroma with a kiss of hops in the back. Refreshing crisp bite enhances the graininess, a little rough around the edges. Hop bitterness is sharp and cuts through most of the malt. On the dry side and relatively clean.
Good drinking, reminds me of some of the retro-beers that are all the rage right now. That is a big hint to the MillerCoors marketing department ... tall boy cans, crack into the hipster crowd and this beer might actually make it.

a nice beer. Meets my standard "tastes like beer". I am not a fan of the strongly hopped flavors that are most prevalent today in "beer". This one tastes like a good beer, but could have a touch more strength in flavor.

I did not like this beer. I gave it a chance. It reminds me of all the beers AB tries to get creative with. The aftertaste is always Bud. In this case the aftertaste was Coors Light. Take Coors Light, add some hops and some coloring and this is what you'll end up with.

As a craft brew drinker I had my doubts about this beer. However, I will admit this was actually a very drinkable beer. Nice deep golden color with an herbal biscuit aroma. The right balance of hops and malt. Notes of caramel come through in the finish. This one was actually a good all around beer for me. If this is the beer they had during prohibition then the guys who broke the law to carry it have my salute of approval.

Had this on draft poured into a special Batch 19 glass.
Dark to amber color in appearance, smell of hops and not much else. Taste was actually kind of plain which I was surprised about. Can definetly taste the hops but not much else. Good carbination as well, slight bitter after tatse but not overwhelming.
This beer was just OK I would drink it again but all of the things I have heard about it, and the hype around it I expected alot more it was just a regular beer. It is worth a try and it is a great attempt by Coors to branch out.
