tasted blind with other "winter warmers" 2009 vintage.
pours an orangish hue with a quickly fading head.
aroma is quite non existant. slight fruity esters, but nothing distinct.
flavor is much like the aroma. not much going on.
well rounded body. decent for style.
this beer is boring. it needs a lot of color and character.

These have been around for awhile. Looks decent, a darker red and auburn appearance, so dark makes you suspect like Coors would put that much malt in a beer, but yeah. Aroma is the typical red malt blend of crisp cedar and peat moss. Totally lacking hop aroma.
Totally lacking hop aroma, lots of carbonation, caramel type of off flavor, I dunno what its all about, but its kind of a sweet sour bitter funk. These seem to have alcohol pretty evident. In a way, this at least met my expectations, I'm not a Coors guy, nor am I a 'winter' warmer/red beer guy, nor am I a red beer guy but under circumstances making the beer more like another style than a red itself (hoppy/wild).
Not terrible, just not impressive, but malty enough to warrant its existence beyond regular Coors.

Poured an amberish color into the old trusy pint shaker glass. Had a decent creamy head that has lasted over ten minutes; minimal lacing, though. Not much on the nose: malt was about it. Taste was not bad, though. Malt (leaning to the sweeter side) and a little caramel with no hop bitterness whatsover. Not bad; I'll seek out a bottle or two again next Winter but nothing special.

Review:
This is the 15940th bottle of 85248, for a brewery like MillerCoors, that is a somewhat limited batch. I will start with the good; this is a clear, crisp, well balanced seasonal beer with great taste of maltiness and carmel. The bad is that MillerCoors marketing is too scared to put their companies name on a good beer. I understand the marketing side of things, the average person will think they are getting a craft beer.

Single, twelve ounce bottle purchased from The Palisade Liquor Store in Jersey City...
First time I've ever seen this brew anywhere...
Pours a deep, dark, amber hue with slight carbonation...
Amber, grainy, malt-dominated aroma...
Hints of sweet caramel, candied sugars, and vanilla essences thrown in the mix...
Heavy on the malts, low on hops with a strong caramel, honey finish...
An interesting sample from Coors...
Although not the best representation of an Amber beer, I give the macro-giant points for trying with this one...

This is by far the best beer coors ever made. I use to get it on sale for $2.99 a six pack every Spring. Too bad they no longer make it. It is a brown color with a midling tan head. The nose has some nutty malts with light hops and Christmas spices. The taste has roasty malt bitter hops. Good flavor for a Coors product. Body is a little fizzy, but this drinks well.

This is as my ratings suggest a good beer. I may also add it is a great beer for the winter months. It tours a dark chocolate brown color with a thin off white head. It smells of sweet roasted barley and chocolate. The taste is of the same perfect carbonation and nice smooth finish down the back of your tongue. Very refreshing and at the same time very full.

Very good specialty ale coming from a macro brewery. Put a micro label on this brew and no-one would question it.
A - Good tawny coloration, with a medium thck head, good retention and lacing.
S - Fragrant, almost a vanilla honey smell. Very pleasant and balanced.
T - Good complexity, with toasty flavoring, and a hint of sweetness and spices in the background. Creamy.
M - Average here, not too much to discuss.
D - Good drinkability here. As I said, if you did not now that this was a macro, it could have come from a craft brewery or a brewpub.
My father had this stashed in his closet, and offered it to me. I had never had it, so I tool him up on his offer. I was very pleasantly suprised by this beer.

Unsure about the actual beset by date since I bought this from a shady corner alcohol store and the bottle has imprint JAN22 051- hope it's not best by jan 22, 2005. Otherwise, good reddish amber pour with white head. Smell of toasted caramel/butterscotch. Taste is sweet with slight malty flavor and undertones of caramel with a smooth mouthfeel and appropriate carbonation. Could easily drink 3-4 of these over the course of a laid back meal with friends. Will try next year during the winter, hoping I get the bottle that is not 2 months or 2 years too old.

Pours a four finger cream head that fades quickly to a ring leaving a good lace. Crystal clear amber color. Light carbonation and medium bodied. Slight malty nose. Starts with a slight sweetness, balanced with slight bitter finish, more like a brown. Far better than their lager. $1.50 for a 12oz bottle from Capital Convenience Concord, NH.

a fine seasonal offering from Coors Brewing Company. as far as amber/red ales go it makes an honest effort. low cream-colored head when poored into a wide mug. dark amber in color highly drinkable for 2 or 3. mild characters through out, nothing outrgeous, but balanced with a hop note. tastful.

Poured a deep bright clear amber red with a tight two finger, creamy head. Aroma was subdued, sweet, malty, with a very faint spiceiness. The taste was also subdued- mainly a combination of sweet caramel, and toffee. Surprisingly, this ale wasn't at all cloying, as it finishes dry and clean. The best feature of Winterfest is it creamy smoothness and perfect carbonation.
Overall, this is a very nice brew -while nothing stands out as outstanding, it is very well made just the same. A nice session beer to enjoy on a frigid winter's night.
