I found this at my local liquor store. I'm not a fan of belgian white styles. But even i can recognize i good beer when i see one. Very smooth, drinkable, enjoyable. I repeat, i don;t like belgian white, but i like blue moon's version. Good beer...

Serving type: pint (proper wit style glass)
Serving type: much too warm, probably closer to 12 degrees Celsius
Feb 19, 2013
A: opaque, with an orange straw colour, about a finger of head that dissipated within five minutes leaving random lacing.
S: fairly true to style with light citrus, wheat, yeast and some light coriander.
T: citrus (primarily orange), a little banana, wheat, and yeast both very prominent.
M: this is where I take issue to this beer, it felt much to heavy and buttery(?) to me, the alcohol and acidity didn't cause this beer to become any crisper and it just felt tired and sluggish. Granted this may well be due to my pint coming from an older keg.
O: this is not a beer that I would seek out again, but if put in front of me properly chilled I would have no problem drinking it again.

Enjoyed from a bottle into a Schells sampling glass.
A: Cloudy/hazy, deep golden orange, two fingers of head, lots of tiny streaming bubbles
S: Bready, wheat, small amount of citrus, like orange peel, not a ton of aroma
T: White bread, faint acidic orange peel, almost no spice, very carbonated, finish wet and not crisp, very drinkable though
M: soft, velvety, fluffy, thicker than water, very carbonated
O: good wheat beer starter, not very complex, extremely drinkable, if you don't like the taste of beer and like flavored beers go for it. Not enough spice and complexity for me as far as wheat beers go.

Served in a pint.
A: Pours a murky yellow color with a thin white head with minimal amounts of lacing.
S: Smells like wheat, grains, hints of citrus, has some earthy and fruity tones to it.
T: Tastes like wheat, barley, grains, with tinges of citrus and hops.
M: Kind of overcarbonated for me, but it's alright, it adds to the crispness that is expected from a light color beer.
O: Overall, It's alright, I could pound gallons of this no sweat, very smooth and refreshing but not extraordinary.

Poured form a bottle into a pint glass
A- Very cloudy golden orange color with about a 1 finger head which quickly dissipated. Some visible bubbles streaming to the top with almost no lacing.
S- Fairly pleasant smell, wheat, some hints of orange and lemon, faint hints of some spices present.
T- The taste was fairly strong in wheat and some orange like citrus with some spices in the finish.
M- Extremely carbonated and fairly light in body. Very drinkable.
O- Overall this is a great lawn mower beer, goes down very easy and tastes pretty good with a little more to it than a typical lawnmower beer.

LOOK: Cloudy golden orange color with a small white head that recedes to a ring. Looks like an unfiltered wit.
SMELL: Wheat, straw and a bit of orange citrus.
TASTE: Wheat malt and orange peel. A bit tangy with a note of Belgian yeast. Touch of clove and small spice. Little to no bitterness or hop flavor, and remains true to the style in that regard. Even balance. Mild and inoffensive, pretty citrusy.
FEEL: Light to medium bodied and wel carbonated. Easy drinking with lingering finish of citrus and dry spice.
OVERALL: A decent wit, and a gateway beer for many young beer drinkers to get into craft beer. Not bad for what it is, and is an easy drinker.

Served on tap in a chilled pint glass at the Rainforest Cafe in Woodfield Mall.
A=Nice rich, golden color with a slight white head. Appealing cloudiness present as well.
S=Citrusy...lemons and oranges.
T=I have had this in 10+ years, but recalled not carrying for it at the time. This time, I enjoyed the sweet fruity backbone, and the belgian yeast. Wheat was not overpowering.
M=Excellent...medium light body with lower than average moderation...very drinkable and would make an excellent lawnmower beer.
0=I would definitely order a tap of this at a bar in the summer, but not enough to spring for a 6-pack.

Appearance: Cloudy yellow-gold, big head.
Smell: Yeasty, wheat.
Taste & Feel: Very slick on the first impression. Wheat and orange come through but seems a little watery. Spices very minimal.
Comments: Received as a gift so wrote up a review. I've had this beer on tap before, it's a decent last resort if I am not in the mood for a light beer but nothing craft is available. It's ok, but this bottle really had nothing going on beyond the wheat and orange, no witbier spices to speak of.

12 fl oz bottle
poured a pale golden hazy liquid, 1 and a half finger soapy white head, poor retention, no lacing. wonderful nose composed of wheat, orange and spices, so fresh and delicate. palate was a little bit of a let down, the orange and spices are still there but kind of lost in the cardboardy taste of the wheat/oats, plus a bit sour and dry.
light bodied, prickly carbonation.
overall a refreshing perfumy brew for hot days, but the wheat and sour flavors didnt let the other components play as much as i would like to. i guess wheat isnt really my type..
Edit: i had half of the beer "pure" and the other half with an orange slice as garnish, and then even dropped it inside the glass. the slice didnt improve the flavor, so for me the slice was a non significative factor to take into account.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a 14 oz "pint: glass. Pours a nice cloudy semi-transparent straw with really no head, but limited lacing. Smells of wheat and orange. Tastes of wheat with a slight orange flavor. Beer is overcarbonated, but very drinkable, with more flavor than most mass produced beers for still having a light body. Overall, a slightly above average beer.

Poured from the bottle into a tulip glass.
A - Pours a cloudy yellow-orange with about a finger of fizzy head. Head dissipates rather quickly and leaves minimal lacing.
S - Wheat, coriander, citrus. A little banana.
T - Same as above, with coriander, other spices, and banana becoming stronger. Sweet.
M - Heavy but not overpowering, a little oily, but in a good coats-your-mouth kind of way. Goes down smooth with medium carbonation.
O - Always a treat and never gets old. Of witbiers I've had, it's a little better than Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat and is topped only by Bell's Oberon.

I've really grown fond of wheat beers over the past couple of years, mostly because of Blue Moon, and here's why: pouring a cloudy golden brown, notes of orange and coriander waft off the thick head, mixed among the subtle scent of rising dough and bananas, typical of wheat beers. On the tongue, smooth and creamy, with the banana presence becoming more prominent, and a heavy body that leaves surprisingly quickly, leaving a warm, clean finish.
This beer is perfect on a warm summer day, but refreshing even in these colder months. Food recommendations include Thai food or spicy chicken dishes, and while it's delicious on it's own, I don't recommend it as a session beer, as the flavors tend to mute and weaken if you nurse it too long. Cheers!

One of the "1001 Beers You Must Try Before You Die" -- #13 of the ones I've reviewed here.
This beer clearly has its fans -- just take a look at some of the reviews here -- but I don't get it. Pours a dark golden yellow which isn't unappealing by itself, but doesn't seem to suit the style (which is presumably a Belgian Wit, which is presumably lighter.) The head vanishes very quickly. Nose of cooked grain, a little citrus, a little corn/fritos, maybe a touch of spice but that's stretching it -- really not much more than say a Yuengling with some lemon juice in it.
Mouthfeel is odd, rather thick and gummy to my taste. Not much by way of flavor, does have a sharp finish that isn't unpleasant but I can't taste much of anything in the beer itself, certainly nothing I'd normally associate with a Belgian White.
Best described as a Belgian Wit made by a company that never actually tried one -- just read a little bit about them in other books. Like if the Cold War was going on and Romania tried to brew one, based soley on reputation and what they could discover in libraries. It's kiinndda in the style, but it's a really bad stab at it.

Served cold Blue Moon Belgian White in a glass with an orange slice at my favorite local mom & pop pizza restaurant. Hard to tell under florescent lighting, but I would say it looks cloudy with a pale gold color and a white lace. Definable characteristics would be a smooth wheat rich thickness, with a kick of coriander spices and plenty of citrus. I’ll be honest in that I enjoyed the orange slice more, mostly because I find the soapy taste of coriander over powering. If you like citrus wheat beers this would be a good one to try at least once.

I like this beer for when I want something that has a light body and mouthfeel. You can smell the citrus and spices when you pour it into a glass. It's a good beer to drink when at a bar and eating bar food.
There are a few problems with it though. First, the mouthfeel is a little watery with a tad much of carbonation. Second, the aroma fades fairly fast after the pour. Third, this beer tastes its best when poured into a chilled glass which is not always available.
Overall a good beer when you just want to sit back and chill for a while.

12-oz bottle into weizen glass
A - cloudy yellow/orange body under almost 2 fingers of white foam; small amount of visible carbonation
S - fresh orange, spice, hint of wheat
T - wheat bread, fresh orange juice, coriander, hop spice, pepper; some dryness moves in for a balanced finish
M - medium body, high in prickly carbonation
O - A little less carbonation and a slightly fuller body would help this one in my opinion, but overall not a bad witbier.

Poured Blue Moon into pint glass.
A - Light, hazy yellow-orange color. Had a good 2 finger white head.
S - Flowery, yeast and citrus zest.
T - Coriander, orange flavored refreshing wheat beer.
M - Tingly bubbles on the tongue. Fairly thick compared to the everyday light BMC beers.
O - A very good summer belgian-style wheat beer. Refreshing and tasty!

My all time favorite mainstream beer! I can never go wrong with Blue Moon!
It has a perfect dark golden color to it. The taste is amazing! A mixture of sweet and grain (Citrus and wheat). Goes down very smoothly. It's smells very good as well.
It's a must have. I always keep a few in my fridge!

Bottle dated JUN0313
Pours a hazy golden yellow with a quickly dissipating white head.
The smell is fairly straightforward with citrus, spice and wheat bread. Heavy on the wheat.
The taste follows pretty much exact. Lots of the wheat/oats on the flavor. Not nearly enough of everything else. Pretty bland for the style. Gets a little Frito corny which is probably due to drinking this warmer than it should be.
Light bodied with lots of bubbles. Burpssss.
Not nearly as refreshing and interesting as the other big name in the witbier game. One of the better BMC products though. I could definitely see a slice of orange upping the drinking experience of this beer. Cold and from the bottle > warmer and from a glass.

A - Medium amber, medium/ thin white head with little lacing
S - Very fruity for a wit... Peaches, apricots? And citrus as well (even before I put an orange in it)
T - Mild fruit flavors, citrus, malty, also very, very sweet.
M - Seemingly loaded with sugar to the point of significantly increasing viscosity. This beer is pretty thick.
O - A good go-to beer if your high school buddies are back in town and you want to kill a few pints and catch a stiff buzz. Not something I would sit down and savor. As with all beer from colorado, if it warms up on you, dump it and pour another as its true flavors will become prominent. Sticking some fruit in your pint will save this crappy Belgian knockoff as well.

The gold standard of wheat beers, quite possibly all beers. I am a fan of wheat beers, so be prepared for a very biased review.
Blue Moon is my standard go-to beer, especially when good craft beers are scarce. It drinks like a quality craft beer, yet is surprisingly common to find on tap at a neighborhood watering hole.
It's amber-golden color is appealing. Head is typically thin and does not last long. The scent is citrusy with a tone of sourdough bread.
The taste is phenomenal. It has a citrusy bite with undertones of various slices, including cinnamon and coriander. The dominant flavor is bready wheat. When someone refers to beer as "liquid bread," I immediately imagine Blue Moon. You remember its flavor and your mouth waters.
Its mouthfeel is exquisite. Silky, thick and rich. The brew coats your tongue and washes down well. This beer has the body of Guiness without the muddy color or strong bitterness.
If Blue Moon was the only beer on Earth, I'd be quite content.

A - light golden color, thin head that fades quickly, some lacing
S - smells fruity like peaches, roasted oats
T - Citrus, with roasted malty aftertaste
F - a little too carbonated, masks some of the taste, but to be expected from any brew made by coors.
O - Pretty good, not as good as some of their seasonals, but the orange/citrus hints add a lot to this beer.

An excellent brew. I can't get enough of the Blue Moon. The appearance is cloudy from the precipitous proteins and yeast
The smell is intense and citrusy.
The taste is phenomenal. I could drink this beer all day.
Feel is a little bit thin. I am not very knowledgeable about beer feel.
But overall, Belgian White is definitely one of my favorites.

A: Pours a cloudy medium straw yellow in color with some orange highlights and moderate to heavy amounts of visible carbonation. The beer has a two finger tall dense light off-white head that slowly reduces to thin film covering the majority of the surface of the beer with a medium sized thick patch and a thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate to heavy amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Light to moderate aromas of wheat and some lighter notes of orange citrus.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste of the beer has moderate wheat flavors with some lighter notes of orange. Very light notes of spices in the finish.
M: Slightly heavier than light bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Very subtle hints of dryness in the finish.
O: Extremely easy to drink and sessionable - this is a great gateway beer for introducing folks to a different style than BMC American Adjunct Lagers. Enjoyable and refreshing.
