goodbye hops, hello coriander!

i am definitely NOT using an orange slice. EVER. made sure to leave a lil bit in the bottle to swirl up the yeast and get all of it into the 16oz mega-pilsner glass.

A- 2 1/2in of white swiss cheese-like head above a beautiful opaque honey colored brew. there seems to be a column of orange that goes down the middle and is flanked on both sides by a golden yellow hue. nice. the foam settles quickly to 1/4in with a pattern that looks exactly, i repeat EXACTLY like the freakin moon. not the one on the bottle, but the REAL moon. no exaggeration. this must be a coincidence, but i looked up a pic of the moon online and compared the two...it gives me the heebie jeebies.

S- orange and coriander forst and foremost, lemon zest, clove, coconut, nutmeg, wheat, oatmeal.

T- total orange peel and coriander, just as the label says. a lil lemon and hay in the background followed by a crisp, refreshing wheat-grain and definitely yeasty aftertaste.

MF- fruit juice consistency and slightly dry with a slickness that pulls it down. good carbonation makes a slightly sour finish.

D- feels heavy due to the yeast content, yet light on the palate and relatively easy to consume. it's all the rage now in ohio, and it's a good witbier despite its coors lineage, but it has that macro taste, and i'd prefer a hoegaarden or hefeweizen to get my wheat fix any day.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle in to weizen glass.

A- Pours a nice hazy orange/yellow body with a disappointing one finger head that disappears in seconds. Nice color, bad head.

S- Smells like oranges and a little spice. Not sure what else to say about it.

T- Mostly citrus, with some sort of cracker-like taste. A little bit of spice backs it up. This beer has a distinct taste when compared to others of the style, but it certainly does not rank among the top.

M- The feel is very full, yet light. Again, very different. Nice and bubbly and refreshing, however.

O- This is definitely a good gateway beer in to craft beer.
