Bottle: Poured a medium clear amber color ale with a nice foamy head with some good retention. Aroma of biscuit malt is dominating with very little other attribute noticeable. Taste is also dominated by some biscuit malt with no discernable hops presence and some medium sweetness coming through. A bit too filtered for my liking but interesting nonetheless.

Nice to see these limited edition beers show up locally ( notice the only reviews so far are local boys and those visiting our fair Province).

This is a nice looking beer, all dark tan with a big white head. The taste is subtle English ale with a slight sulphur note combined with gentle hops and a fruity midbody. A nice session beer that maybe should have been bigger for Capt Van's anniversary. Nice to drink but not real memorable.

Picked this up at Spinnaker's liquor store out in Victoria, curious enough to find on the shelves out there even for an Alberta boy.

Pours out a clear light burnished copper hue, tall creamy off-white head that pours high but recedes quickly.

Light buttery toffee malt on the nose, along with mild herbal hops.

The malt is much more robust in the flavour, a deeper toasted character, woody and earthy, along with a rooty raw quaility to the herbal hop finish.

Somewhat watery on the mouthfeel, but keeping in the lighter character of the style, creamy rounded edges as well.

I take it this is a limited edition, so those on the PNW coast should start picking some of this up before it's gone.

I was delighted and surprised to find this on the shelves of the BC Liquor Store, especially since they carry nothing else by this brewery and as a whole have a limited selection of English ales.

Not sure of the story behind this since it is not on the brewery's website. I'm guessing this was released regionally in England, but probably with the idea that people in Vancouver (both BC and WA) might be interested.

Needless to say, I snatched up several bottles and will probably grab more if it is still available. This is not a cellaring ale.

Dark amber to light copper in colour. Fairly lively head, but it settles down decently.

Sourdough, yeasty smell with a hop tang to it. Slightly sour, but not off.

Nice malty taste. Toffee hints, fresh baked bread, pale malts. Again, slight sour hint, but not unpleasant.

Decent body on this; very drinkable. Low ABV definitely makes this sessionable.
