Dark ruby and clear brown throughout with a small ring of khaki head atop the base. Leaves dotted spots of stick down the glass. Pretty and appropriate for the style.
A lot of nutty character to this in the aroma, which I like a lot. There's a bit of caramel/toffee sweetness/malt aspect as well, with a bit of simple bread character lingering the background. Very nice.
The flavor too is nicely nutty, along with sweet, though mild, caramel, and rustic brown bread. Moderate bitterness. Very drinkable.
Medium bodied with low-moderate carbonation--very appropriate.
I liked this one a lot given the style, though I'd probably order any of the other 3 (available) Rip Current offerings again before this one, only because it's not a particularly favorite style of mine.

On tap at Rip Current Brewing in San Marcos, CA.
Pours a hazy orange-brown with a foamy beige head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Foamy streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, caramel, and some nutty aromas. Taste is much the same with a toast flavor on the finish. There is a mild amount of hop bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.

Nice rich brown caramelly color, with less carbonation than I like to offset the far too viscous texture. This was a bit sweeter than I generally care for, but had a great toasted nut aroma. All in all a decent beer, but when in San Diego, IPAs reign supreme and at Rip Current, that trend is no different.
