On tap at the Angry Goat Pub in Rochester, NY.
This one pours a dark black, with a one inch, foamy as all hell mocha-colored head, and a good amount of lacing.
This smells super, super roasty, with some bittersweet dark fruit, smoke, ash, used coffee rounds, and bittersweet dark chocolate.
This is interesting, because most coffee-added beers have some sort of sweetness added to them by the coffee addition, but this beer eschews all sorts of sweetness, with varying levels of bitterness. I certainly enjoy it, but it may not be for everyone. It's super roasty, super bitter, and super ashy, with the coffee providing an earthy and bitter counterpoint to the dried bitter fruit character, along with the bitter roasted malt character. Get the point? It's super bitter.
This is pretty creamy, with a moderate level of carbonation.
A pretty nice beer, but not for people who don't like bitterness, for sure.

Served in a pint at the Bronx Alehouse.
Nice off-colored or cream colored head a half finger thick over a robust, black body. Abundant lace on the walls and above the body. 4.5
Aromas of dark chocolate and coffee, but somewhat faint. A drizzle of caramel. 3.5
Okay, now we're getting places. Dark roast coffee slides in smoothly. It's light, as are the accompanying notes of caramel and chocolate. Light spice from the hops or coffee seems almost chile-like. 4
Lighter side of medium bodied with a moderate carbonation makes this pretty damn sippable. The finish is a mildly bitter and lingers with coffee. Throughout there's light sweetness. 4
I had this at the brewery and found it cool, but I'm really liking it with this second visit. Good stuff.
