16.9 oz brown bottle poured into my SA perfect pint glass. It has freshness dating which I like on imports. The beer is a hazy yellow with a fairly thick bone white head.

It has an aroma of some slightly euro skunk, grains and a bit of hay.

The taste is slightly sweet with some crackers, a bit of the skunk thing and grains. It is almost totally neutral with no real leaning toward the bitter or malt side of the scale.

The mouth is well balanced between some active carbonation and a bit of heft/slickness.

Not awful, not great, would really like to try next time I'm back in Austria! Note this one was so much better on draft, I'm worried that my bottle may have been poorly handled.

A- This beer pours a deep straw yellow body with a lumpy off-white head that is thick and a quick sea of carbonation pops to the top. The head sticks in sheets with each sip.

S- the clean lager aroma has a slightly sweet sulfur and some pils malt note to it with a wet mash aroma in the finish. The soft noble hop note comes through in the finish as it opens.

T- The clean gentle sweetness is pale malt but there is a soft slightly sweet mineral water note in the finish. The noble hop bitterness lingers a bit in the aftertaste but stays in balance

M- This beer has a light mouthfeel with a slightly slippery texture and a gentle fizz.

O- Nice German Pilfer that is just a touch sweeter than most but it adds a nice freshness to the malt flavor. It is well balanced but the mineral water taste tends to grow a bit to much as it opens.

Pours a clear yellow with a soapy, thin head. Aromas of fresh grain and spice. Taste begins with a grassy start, followed by a hint of bubblegum, then some french bread, and finally some grassy, soapy bitterness in the finish. Mouthfeel is good. Overall a pretty good pilsner. The bubblegum component was a bit surprising, though pleasant.

pours brilliantly clear, light yellowish gold. 3/4" of creamy foam dissipates quickly to an uneven cap before sticking around and leaving decent lacing. Nice and vibrant, lines of bubbles rising throughout.

Aroma is underwhelming, surprisingly light pilsner aroma, sort of a generic light "grain" aroma, very low spicy to slightly herbal hops, some corny/DMS, occasional sulfur notes would be fine but there's not enough other aroma here to mix it in well. Slight papery/metallic aromas as it warms suggest some age.

Flavor is a step up, bitterness is on the lighter end for the style but OK, and relatively sharp and clean. Leaves a slight sweet malt flavor on the palate after the swallow but really could use some pilsner malt flavor. DMS shows again - OK, but again wish there was more malt flavor here. A little sweet and slick in the finish, not really that dry at all. Occasional fruity notes seem to be from yeast on top of a slightly lemony hop flavor - the latter is welcome, the former is out of place.

Nice mouthfeel, on the lighter side of medium, fairly expressive medium high carb, no alcohol warming or astringency.

Drinkable example that needs a shot of pilsner malt and should finish dry. Might have been better a couple months ago but there's no bottled on/best by date here...

Pours a clear light yellowish gold color with a half inch ivory/white head that dissipates quickly.

Aroma is dominated by grainy pilsner malt, biscuit, and perfume like hops. A hint of orange citrus is present, and alcohol.
Diacetyl emerges as it warms.

Flavor reveals more citrus, with a distinct lemony sourness. The crisp cracker malt backbone is refreshing, with a slightly dry finish. Hints of cooked corn detract from the profile.

Body is medium light, with moderately high carbonation. There's a but of astringency evident.

Overall a decent beer, but too fruity hop for the style. Not one I'll revisit.

Pours a mostly clear golden yellow with small bits in the beer and features a pretty decent bubbly off-white head that faded rather quickly and leaves

The aroma is mostly lemon, citrus and grain with a mild sweet malt tucked into the background.

The flavor is heavily leaning towards the lemon side. There is a bit of malt, but it is rather hidden. Is a bit tangy in the aftertaste.

Medium body with little carbonation.

Overall this is nothing impressive. This does not read like a typical pilsner and the flavor is a little harsh in the lemon direction.

Pours honey colored with 3 fingers of pearl colored head. Good head retention & lacing

S: Soapyness, bready notes,& perfumy hops

T: Follows the nose, slight sulphur, along with lemony & mineral hoppyness up front. Crackery notes/dryness, grainy bread notes as this warms, some apple & white grape notes as well. Finishes soapy with a slight grainy sweetness, really enjoyed this

MF: Medium bodied, firm carbonation & good balance

A respectable pils that went down too easy

A fairly standard German Lager with the spotlight on the malt character, and displaying some yeasty flaws along the way.

Medium straw in color and mostly clear, the beer's carbonation helps to fuel an early head character but reduces to a trace early in the session. The white foam needs better retention and lace to compete with better looking lagers.

Aromas are partly of pilsner malt, parlty of grain. With touches of corn, fresh bread dough and a lemony-sulfury note, the beer has a more earthy and robust character to accompany the clean lager flavor that's celebrated in Germany.

Flavors are medium, or slightly higher with cracker breadiness, fresh dough, raw barley, and the same corn character that's noticed in the nose. Surfury yeast and the dms issue distract from the taste and subtract from the lemony hops, slight apple ester, and bright pilsner malt character. The beer has all the things expected from well made lagers, but also with a few flaws.

Medium textured, early zesty carbonation turns creamy before disipating towards sulfury dryness late. Somewhat minerally, the beer seems less smooth than it needs to be.

A fine lager overall, but with a few flaws that rise, the base lager taste isn't complex of characterful enough to compensate.

I bought this beer in a Billa supermarket this week in Tirol, Austria. I expected a bit better beer than normal when you drink Austrian beers but this was was slightly disappointing. Poured in a normal glass it is a normal Austrian beer with a decent white head and very very little carbonation. The taste is light and watery and with that all is said about this beer. It is drinkable, don't get me wrong, but it is not a spectacular beer.

A - An average pour produced a two inch head, which dissipated to a layer of paper pretty quickly. Crystal clear straw color. Medium plus carbonation.

S - light malts and grassy hops

T - it tastes more like a typical macro vollbier that is found all over Austrian & German supermarkets, with an added hay/grass hoppiness. It's definitely fuller and maltier than most pilsners I've had.

M - Medium. Better yet.. "medium minus." Again, more like a vollbier than a pils to me.

D - It's not bad.. but for a pils it's unfulfilling. If I was at a party I wouldn't refuse drinking a couple. Extra points for the brown bottle though (European pilsners seam to be exclusively filled in green bottles, way to not follow this horrid trend!)

500 ml bottle.

Pours a clear, hay and sunshine color. OK bubbling and a soft head that quickly recedes to nothing.

The aroma has just a hint of stale lemon rinds. Add to that hoppy smell some wet grass and light toasted pilsner malt.

Teh taste has some crisp toasted malt upfront. This gets mixed in with wet grass hops. With a past due leomon rind finish to a medium toasted palate.

Easy to drink except for the aftertaste of old lemon rinds.

A: Pours a pale, clear gold with a 2-finger head which quickly receeds to a thin ring. Some lacing in the upper third of the glass.

S: Sweet barley malt are readily apparent here, with some grassy Saaz hops tucked underneath.

M: Medium bodied with decent carbonation.

T: Follows the nose, with sweet barley malts coming to the fore. There is a strange interjection of hops at the back on the first sip that made a reoccurance later on. Other than that, the hops are really lost here, weak and underwhelming to say the least. The citrusy sweet really seems out of place here. Aftertaste is dry.

D: Easy to drink, but not really a beer that I would ever pine for. I think I know why these are sold in 4 packs.

A - This one is crystal clear and amber-gold with a two finger head of loose bubbles. The head is honestly pretty junky looking.... not the tight white foam that I'd expect. Lacing is sporadic at best, and retention is poor.

S - Sour fruit and a crazy funk note that seems like brettanomyces but I honestly doubt that that is what I'm smelling. Smells a bit like Zebra Stripes fruit gum and "old man aftershave" like Old Spice. Some donut and sour apple show up too. Weird, but not bad at all.

T - Sour apple and funky pumpkin with some pumpernickel and sesame seed notes too. This is not striking me as a very well put together beer. The flavors are odd, but I like odd. I get the feeling that some of this funky flavor may be attributable to this bottle's long journey overseas and long respite on the shelf of my local beer store.

M - Light bodied and astringent. Crisp and wafer-y. Finishes clean with a hint of salt and minerals... like a salt-n-vinegar potato chip.

D - Not bad. I like the oddball factor, but it isn't really doing what it should for the given style. I could drink a few of these, but I would reach for it's darker sibling "Morchl" which is just outstanding. I'm kinda "meh" about this one.

Light pale gold, no head. Relatively clear. A lager that looks like a lager.

A sweetish smell from the malt profile. Minimal hops. Taste has a deep maltiness not expected from the look, finishes sweeter than most.

A drinkable pilsner, with a good kick but a bit sweet for the style. Not great but pretty good.

Turbid, cloudy yellow with a creamy eggshell cap that sticks a little. This is not a great smelling beer, spent grain and faint saaz hops. The flavor is only slightly better than the nose, not unpleasant but completely underwhelming and lacking in both malt and hop flavors. Medium bodied with smooth carbonation. This beer does not do the beautiful package justice and it is certainly not "A rarity in beer taste" as the label proclaims. There are far better examples of the style to be found.
