Small brew pub, nice decor and a small patio. Located in a small strip mall. Food is the best thing here with pizzas being the specialty. Beers are hit or miss. Sometimes they are great and other times thin and watery. A great addition to that part of Scottsdale. The owner is a really nice guy. Ask if he is around and he'll give you a short tour.

Tried the "Black IPA", and it was different! Not what I was expecting, but I have had a lot of IPA's... but not a lot of black ones. So, I can only tell you how it tasted to me and what kind of hop flavors came through.

Up front was the piney aroma of Simcoe hops, the mouth feel was a lot of roast, mainly coffee notes, the aftertaste had a different hop character .... earthy, musty, dank ....maybe Mosaic hops ...not sure. I did not personal care for the aftertaste, in the end the combination of those flavors was like drinking the flavor of a burned down house. But don't get me wrong, I did drink it all and can honestly say it was not ....bad, but one was enough.

At the time of my visit they offered ales only (their ales), alongside a nice but short list of guest taps. I found their beers fresh, somewhat flavorful for their styles, but nothing that really made me want to come back for more of the same. I'll try their newer offerings and continue to see where they go, because their first few batches sufficiently caught my interest. Also they had very few house beers to choose from relative to the norm for brewpubs out there today.

Pizza was above average for brewpub food. Service was impeccably good on my visit. Atmosphere is modern and somewhat industrial-looking to me, in a very good way. Plenty of parking in the back.

Lot of potential. Wish they did lagers and had some German or Belgian styles of house brews.
