Thanks to Francis for bringing by a fresh growler of this wit. This has a beautiful golden amber glow, very cloudy with a decent white head and good lacing. The aroma brings a demure biscuity lemon spice and the required "wheat" element, of course. Not particularly decisive but not bad. The flavor brings on some of the advertized orange and other citrus hop pleasantries accompanied by sweet banana wheat and nice whispers of spice. It offers a medium/light body with a likeable foamy smoothness in feel, amply carbonated. Wits aren't always my favorite but this is a decent offering from the new Stonington brewery and stirs my interest in their other offerings.

I got the chance to go to the opening party and a local food/beer dinner at Beer'd where I've tried this beer both times.

I will start this by saying I'm not a huge witbier guy. However, this was a nice surprise. The citrus aroma is pleasant but made me think it would be followed by a fruity flavor. The taste though is less wheaty (i.e., bluemoonish) and more Belgian inspired (i.e., hoegaardeny) along with a light banana flavor which I liked. Super crisp mouth feel with very nice carbonation. I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the beer is so fresh when you get it right from the brewery.

This is a great flagship brew for Beer'd in that it's not over the top giving it a mass appeal but the flavor is complex enough that even the nerdiest of beer nerds can appreciate this quality offering right in line with this beer style. Keep it up guys & gals!
