Tapped into my personal Trois Pistoles snifter at The Lemon Grove in Youngstown, OH.

Appearance - Dark brown body. Small white lace with great stick.

Smell - Coffee. Light matls.

Taste - Clean body with astringent finish. Honey in the finish masks and compliments the astringency well. slightly metallic but not an off flavor for some reason. Well balanced.

Mouthfeel - Medium to full bodied. Lots of effervescence.

Overall Drinkability - Best I've had in the style.

On-tap at Clark's Ale House for $3.50 a pint. Appeared a clear orange with a short white head. Like the other Dundee beers, this is a simple but tasty drink. There's a dry but sweet caramel taste that dominates with light candied bread undertones. Clean and drinkable, I'm sure it's a fine beer to drink a stein of.

This was the happy hour feature draft in Columbus at Old Bag of Nails--$2 for 20oz. Served in a large pint glass.

Nice amber color. Scant tan head, although this probably was due more to the bartender rather than the beer. Nice malty smell w/o much hops.
Tastes like is smells...very malt forward, bready. Hops are there, kind of earthy, but not very prominent. Mouthfeel is light to moderate with some stickiness in the end. Fairly drinkable although, as others have said, the sweetness does catch up after awhile. A basic and reasonable example of an amber version of Oktoberfest beer. I might revisit, although there are many other versions that are better examples in my opinion.

Pours a clear amber/orange color with a thin bright white head sitting on top. Decent retention and some lacing.

The aroma is ok, but nothing spectacular. Pale sweet malt, and a bit of citrus.

The taste is ok. A bit of sweet citrus up front and a big pale malt on the finish. Kind of bready and slightly nutty.

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with ample carbonation.

Drinkability is moderate. Not the best Oktoberfest I've had, which limits it a bit. Poor quality isn't the most fun to drink, but it is sessionable and inoffensive.

12 oz bottle poured into a pint glass

A- Pours clear amber orange with a one finger off white head.

S- Grain, dark fruit. Smells like beer what can I say.

T- A surprising dark fruit presence in this beer. A grain flavor and a crisp lager feel. A lot of caramel and burnt sugars. A good sweet/bitter balance. A rather plain but balanced beer.

M- Light on feel. Very easy to drink.

O- You cold do worse, but you cant do worse for the money.

A: poured from 12 oz bottle into a pint glass, basic brown colored with a short light tan headed that quickly faded leaving little to no lacing, crystal clear, vibrant bubbling
S: sweet cereals and bread, caramel, light spice
T: on the sweeter side but not much going on, some malt flavors, a little toffee
M: thinner with too much carbonation, odd slight mineral water aftertaste
O: not great for the style, but not undrinkable, lacks depth of flavors though

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

As far as I can tell, this is the last O-Fest I've got. Not sure if I'm pleased with this fact or not... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear auburn-bronze topped by a finger of cream foam. The nose comprises sourdough, toffee, and a kiss of greens. The taste holds notes of very sweet caramel, light candied orange peel, dry bran, and brown grass. It's a strange dichotomy on my tongue between the sweet and the dry/grainy that luckily moves in shifts, rather than just sitting poorly on the tongue. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly slick feel. Overall, a decent O-Fest, but nothing to get anywhere near excited about.

Poured into a pint glass.

Pours a clear dark copper amber color with lots of bubbles and an off white head that sits pretty chunky initially. Head settles to a nice lace layer and leave some good lace. Looks good.

Brew smells of malts and some mellow hops. A true lager nose here with just a bit of spice in the nose. Smells pretty good though.

Brew is spiced in the middle and in the end. Starts with good creaminess from the ever present head; caramel malts in the middle and lots of nice peppery spice. Lots of carbonation - but it works well here. Head settles down a bit and the creaminess subsides. Still good stuff though. Brew finishes clean, and you want another sip. Good slight sweetness to this one. Nice malts and some hops in the finish. This is a good session brew. Good.

First brew from Dundee and I like it. A better take on the style than some of the better craft breweries out there. A great price point for a good Oktoberfest. I will seek out again.

P: Orange-copper colored body topped with 2 fingers of frothy ice cream float head. Good retention with wet lacing.

S: Toasted caramel malt, toffee, spiced rum soaked fruit, honey wheat bread and grains.

T/M: Super rich malts, spiced fruit, timid rum and bread. Focus is in the malt with little to no bitterness. Sticky mouthfeel with nice carbonation. Finishes semidry lingering caramel apples.

O: I like this Oktoberfest it's more rich and malty than some with a great mouthfeel. Nice take on the style.

It sure pours nice...a ruby red colour, an inch or more of foam, does well with the lacing.

The smell is all bread and grain. To the style.

Bread, grain, mild sweetness, no bitterness in the taste. Pretty much to the style and pretty tasty, easy drinking.

I find this to be a nice example of the style; I've had others from brewers with a bigger rep than this and they weren't as good. A good effort from Dundee, me thinks.

I sampled this beer along with two other similar choices (Shock Top Pumpkin Wheat and Sierra Nevada Tumbler) and it seemed thin and devoid of taste or flavor. I really expected to like it more but was left disappointed. The color and appearance was good, the taste was not.

Dundee's take on the style is a bit darker than some, surpassing copper to be more of a bronze. The head, a tight, tan cap, gets to one finger tall but ends up half that, which then sticks around and leaves some spotty lacing around the glass as it falls.
I get a malty sweetness with caramel and a light biscuit along with slightly herbacious hops, but it takes effort to force it out of the aroma; the flavor is a bit stronger. It is very well balanced, for what it's worth. This stands about in the middle of the pack, and could use more strength but has a generally good profile.
The feel is light and leans more toward crispness than smoothness with a bit more than moderate carbonation.

I poured a bottle into a mug.

Appearance- Dark copper-brown color with a fingers worth of tan head. Fair amount of lacing.

Smell- Light smell of caramel malt sweetness with some nuttiness.

Taste- Slightly sweet nutty malt flavor with the faintest hint of hops at the finish.

Mouthfeel- On the light end of medium bodied with a nice amount of carbonation. Smooth and crisp but just a little watery.

Overall- Not bad, I've had better oktoberfest beers but this was worth a try.

It has been a while since I have tried a brew from Dundee....
A: Poured a Marzen copper / brown color with light head
S: Rich roasted sweet malt ... its an Oktoberfest for sure . The hops are hard to find but that is a good thing.
Taste : It's an easy drinker for all you malt heads. Do like the sweetness in this one.
M : Medium mouthfeel and good finish. Represents the American style well.
O: This one is on the same level as the Sam Adams version for sure . Will be fun to drink throughout the season. Can you say grilled brats .

A. Very deep red-brown color. It's opaque. There a good tan foamy head that leaves a good amount of lace.

S. Alcohol scent. Very thick maltiness.

T. High octane brew. The alcohol is present. Taste kind of like a pumpkin-saison.

M. Definition of full-bodied.

O. I'd have to have a taste test, but right there as the best Oktoberfest I've ever had.

Appearance - Pours a VERY dark amber color, almost brown looking.. with an inch thick, creamy off-white head that dissipates quickly. Has pretty nice lacing.

Smell - Caramel, brown sugar, nuts, and toffee.

Taste - Similar to smell.. Toffee, caramel, very malty, and toasty. Maybe some clove..? There's some spices that I can't point out.

Mouthfeel - Thick body with mild carbonation.

Overall - This is a lot different than most of the other Oktoberfests I've had.. almost like a different style. It's not bad, but it wouldn't be my first choice.

Appearance: When poured into a pilsner glass the beer is brown in color with a nice off white head approaching 2 inches in height. Head has good staying power, eventually fading to a cover on the liquid with lacing down the glass.

Smell: Light in the aromas. There is some caramel malt, with a slight nuttinessto it, nothing much else stands out.

Taste: Some decent maltiness no cloying sweetness (lightly sweet caramel and malts). A slight bitterness as I swallow the beer down. Kinda like an Oktoberfest Light beer.

Mouthfeel: A little lighter in body than I would like. Well carbonated, lively on the tongue.

Overall: October is well in the rearview mirror ,but I had been saving a few O-fest beers waiting for the right time to review them. This is a good, easy drinking beer. A very approachable Oktoberfest beer, one to introduce a person to the style. I will likely look for this again next year.

A - Dark brown/amber, darker than most Octs, with a 1.5 finger tannish head. Some lacing. Nice.

S - Some mixed maltiness. Smells a bit "cleaner" than others.

T - A sweet, slightly nutty maltiness with some hints at other flavors. Maltiness seems like maybe some heavier toasted malts. Nothing there on the back end to speak of.

MF - Slick in the mouth, light-medium body, easy to drink, perhaps a tad watery in the finish.

O - Looks good, tastes alright, but overall subpar. A fairly one-dimensional profile. Lacks a little in complexity and balance. Not bad for the price, but wouldn't seek it out.

O: Not a bad Oktoberfest beer, I liked this and at $5.99/6er the price is great.

A - Hazy dark brown with red highlights. 1 finger of light tan head

S - Rich toffee/caramel malt, very sweet and sugary.

T - Follows the nose with dense toffee/caramel malt. Grainy and tangy grass/straw flavors on the finish.

M - Full body, slighlty chewy feel.

Pretty one dimensional with the sweet malt dominating pretty much everything. But the sweetness works and I find myself wanting another one.

Pours a hazy, toffee colored body with a tan head that looks a bit creamy as it dissolves to leave only hints of lacing behind.

The aroma is of caramel malts and faint brown sugar, perhaps a bit on the sweet side. As it warms there may even be a hint of spice.

The flavor also offers sweet caramel malt, a touch bread-like, and also a bit nutty.

On the lighter side of medium in body with medium carbonation.

Overall I was pleasantly surprised with this beer. Perhaps not the traditional German Marzen, but certainly worth a try.

Poured into a pint glass. Reviewed alongside Spaten Oktoberfest.

A: Clear dark amber with three-finger, off-white, creamy head that lasted a while. Phenomenal lacing.

S: Very sweet caramel malt notes. Really good.

T: Moderate sweetness and hop bitterness. Malty and caramel-like. Pretty good, but lacking in depth.

M: Medium bodied with lively carbonation. Really smooth, crisp, and refreshing. High drinkability.

O: This beer looks amazing and smells so good. The feel is really great too. Too bad the taste is a bit lacking. Other than that, pretty solid Oktoberfest. I preferred this over the Spaten.

Poured out into a pint glass. Dark mahogany in color, with a thick head about two fingers tall. Leaves behind some good lacing.

The smell of this beer is of nuts and toffee mostly. Definitely can pick up on the malts in the nose as well.

Tastes malty and sweet. spot on in flavor for an Oktoberfest in my opinion.

Its a little on the light side in terms of body. It seems a little flat, although it still has enough carbonation to bring the beer to life.

Overall not a half bad beer, I enjoyed it quite well.

Poured from a 12oz bottle to a Hofbräu mug.

Pours a nice ruby chestnut color with a 1 finger head that creates alot of sticky slime. Smells of nutty malts, spice and caramel, with a faint grainy lager type smell. Strong robust malty backbone with an almost fruity center, followed up with a sour grain finish. Light on the mouthfeel, very easy to drink. Overall this beer is worth buying IMO esp for the price. It is a nice easy to drink and enjoy lager.
