Thanks to Eric for gifting me with a bottle of this. From a grenade style stubby bottle into a pint glass. The brew pours a clear ruby to mahogany with orange hints around the edges. A polished clarity with less than a finger of off-white froth that fades quick.
The smell is toffee-like sweet with buttery biscuits and a faint fruit inclusion. Mild herbal to citrus hops and minerals are also present filling out the void of an otherwise pretty neutral smelling brew.
The taste is minerals first then some citrus and mild fruity hop hints. A mild alcohol ester before the onset of caramel/toffee grain that is quite buttery and mineral-filled with a hint of corn sweetness that lasts inside the mouth long after the swallow.
This is a med bodied brew with a modest amount of carbonation. It is fairly easy drinking but not something I would seek out or purposely like to try again. As far as American Red lagers are concerned though, you could do worse.

Genny Red is a clear, sparkling, amber lager with a turbulent, white film. It has a pretty fruity aroma with a bit of sweetness and a slight funk. It kind of smells like a hybrid of Genny Cream Ale and Genny Bock. It's pretty light bodied and pretty smooth. The finish is reasonably clean. The flavor is mostly sweet, fruity malt and a barely detectable, wooden bitterness. There's a little rubber flavor at the finish, but not much. This is just a swilling beer, really. It has more character than a standard macro, but nothing to offend a standard macro drinker. It really does seem like a mix of their Cream Ale and Bock.

Pours a light copper color with a frothy head into my glass. I haven't seen this variation around here before. Came in the "Fall Heritage Pack" with Fyfe & Drum and 12 Horse Ale.
Full of sweet, grainy malt in the nose. Not much else. Definitely has an "industrial" smell to it.
Sweet to the point where it borders on syrupy. Grainy. Not much else for flavor. Tastes much like anything else they've made.
Mouthfeel is thin but tolerable. Still nothing spectacular.
I'm not sure what really sets this apart from Genesee Ale, 12 Horse or even their Cream Ale other than it's a miserable shade of red.

Poured from bottle into pint glass
Appearance – Pours a deep amber color with a two finger white head. The head has a great level of retention. Once it fades slowly over time it leaves a decent level of lacing.
Smell – The aroma is a sweet blend of caramel, toffee, and a lighter sweet corn smell. Mixed with these aromas are some notes of a roasted malt.
Taste – The taste starts out of roasted malt and a caramel sweetness. The roasted malt and some breadiness start out stronger and grow weaker as the taste advances. Unlike the roasted flavors, the sweet grows stronger as the taste advances. The caramel remains somewhat consistent in strength with a toffee flavor growing stronger more toward the middle of the taste. While this occurs, a corn malt flavor grows more and more in strength. In the end a very light earthy hop flavor comes to the tongue, with the sweet flavors this leaves a very odd taste on the tongue.
Mouthfeel –The body of the beer is on the thin to average side with a moderate level of carbonation. Not bad for the style and it makes for a rather drinkable brew.
Overall – A sweeter style affordable brew. Initially the flavors are quite nice, but the aftertaste is a little off for me (I can’t quite place it). OK, nothing more.

This bubbly, effervescent brew pours a golden orange hue with a soapy off-white head. The foam retains its height for an average amount of time and leaves some spotty wisps of lace behind on the glass. Some small rising bubbles are visible as well.
Husky grain and a some what medical note along with mild, pale malt and dry, somewhat astringent, hops. A hint of caramel-like sweetness arises after holding my nose in the glass for a moment. I suppose that slightly sweet, mild nutty, fruit/caramel note is characteristic of the style.
Actually more appetizing than the nose implies with lots mellow sweetness and pale/caramel maltiness. Nutty with a faint hop character. Again a hint of medicine-like taste and some mineral character. More husky grain and a slight syrupy quality. A sweeter, honey-like finish.
Not nearly as bright and effervescent as expected. More mellow, matted, and even somewhat velvety on the tongue. Lower carbonation for the style and a slightly dry finish. Smooth and clean but somewhat lacking. I actually would have liked more bubbly carbonation. That may have helped to take the edge off a slightly unpleasant character that is floating around in the middle. Also a slight, yeasty film is left on the tongue. Better than expected, but still average at best.

Thanks to jwc215 for this brew.
Pours a nice clean/clear golden orange color, nice carbonation, nice one-finger plus creamy off-white head, some sticky lacing follows. The nose is mostly malty, and caramel. The taste is also malty with some caramel. Medium body. Drinkable, not a bad beer, but would not buy it if it was readily available, glad to have had a chance to try it though.

Pours light amber with a thick foamy head that settles to a thin cover.
The smell is of sweet grains and a glimpse of earthy hops.
The taste is of sweet malt that has a slightly roasted character. Faint earthy hops give it balance. Crisp finish.
Thin, but not overly watery. Crisp and clean. Refreshing.
Not bad at all for $11 a thirty-pack. A decent choice for an affordable easy drink.

I drank this quite regularly but this was discontinued by High Falls about 3 months ago. I'm now alternating between Yuengling's, Killian's, Michelob AmberBock, and Ice House. Ice House is priced similarly but the others are much more expensive than the Genny Red.

I had this beer playing a game. It poured a deep redish color with a good bit of head. The lacing was fair and the head was fluffy. The retention was rather poor. The smell was pretty sweet, but not exactly matly. The taste was pretty neutral, but that was after a turbodog, an Abita Fallfest and half of an Eye of the Hawk. The mouthfeel was pretty good, but the host of the party kept it pretty cold, so it was kind of ridged. A pretty solid beer.

Decided to risk buying the 30-pack while visiting back home in Buffalo, since I hadn't ever found the Red version before. Anyway, it was cheap enough to risk it.
Appearance isn't red, but a clear light orange. An average-sized head that stuck around for more than a few seconds.
Smell is just plain and clean lager with a little caramel in the mix.
Taste is surprisingly good for being an economy macro. Light caramel is present as the aroma hinted at, some grain notes, and a drying finish with just a hint of bittering. No detectable adjuncts or off flavors. Good drinkability.
Medium light body and an "oh, not bad at all" taste make this a new favorite in the really-cheap-canned-beer class, well ahead of Stroh's and Genny Cream.

Appearance: Red amber with an almost 2 inch thick foamy white head and had moderate carbonation.
Scent: Caramel malt and grainy hops .
Taste: sweet caramel and malt, with a slight grainy flavor and hop finish.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and wett with barely any aftertaste.
Drinkability: Wow I tried this for the first time and it reminded me of Killian's in a can well...sort of but anyway, I have been a fan of High Falls for a bit now and I must say at 10 bucks for a 30 pack ....I found me another keeper!
