Poured out looking like a standard belgian ipa, copper with tons of haze going through it, far from the clarity of other ipas. Decent 1" formation of mostly white head on the top of it. Aroma was a little hoppier than your average belgian ipa, but still isn't wowing me having been stuck on west coast hophead since the 90s.
Taste, now the hops are coming on! Thankfully, the yeast takes a back seat, this truly is one of the better hybrid Belgian ipas out there, you still get an ample amount of hops that contribute something more than just bitterness, while the yeast profile doesn't smack your palate down with banana and band aid esters. The yeast contributes like only a third of the usual yeastie flavors associated w/ belgian ipa's or pales, and it works very well.
I think this beer can suit a lot of different people. Hopheads, tickers, those who enjoy belgians (but won't get all uppity if it isn't strictly traditional). I consider it to be another well above average beer made in Reno.
