Good place, conveniently located to the highway. This is the place my relatives from Glenwood Springs come every time they venture the three hours down the mountains to Denver - it has plenty to keep their trunk stocked. It has an extensive selection of beers, particularly regional brews from the Mountain West, and a huge selection of wines and liquors as well. The staff was perfectly friendly, but I didn't find them eager to check on customers in the aisle. But then again, it's a very big store.

Remember cash/local check only! Applejacks has a very good selection that seems to rotate frequently. They have a really strong German beer selection and the Belguim beer selection seems to vary in terms of selection from time to time. They arevery good about having a good selection of local beers. Their prices are very good which I attribute to working on a cash/check basis(they may take debit). The store is in a great location in the region and fairly easy to get to. The service is good- anytime I have asked the employees seem to know a good deal about what they sell. Some of the beers represented are Colorado microbrews that you can not find at all liquor stores. Overall I would rank this store as one of the better stores to visit if you are in Denver, CO.

First off, Applejack now accepts credit cards AND they have a very nice selection of craft beer with an emphasis on local Colorado brews and California treats.
The majority of their more special beers are kept
refrigerated in a huge, open showcase, very cold isle.
They had a range of brews, for example, spanning from Ohio's Little Kings to Pliny the Elder to Alaskan to Moose Drool to a slew of Belgian beers and corked rarities. Plenty of fantastic Colorado breweries were represented. Their bomber section was open as well, making it very easy to inspect bottles. The big-bottle collection was quite nice and I found it hard to tear myself away and keep control of buying more than I "should."
After visiting just two nights prior to this reviewed visit, and after purchasing a bottle of Pliny the Elder, I noticed it was not displayed. While checking out, I asked the clerk if they had any left and she said they had 12. I requested three bottles and at least four other employees asked about Pliny and what I was waiting for while I was waiting for the guy in the back to fetch me the bottles, which took a while since he didn't know where to look. I was also asked within 5 minutes of entering the store if I could be helped. Everyone seemed to helpful and friendly.
The story on Applejack is that they used to have some of the very cheapest prices around Denver because they saved money by not accepting credit cards. I was told that it was not until 2009 that they bucked that old approach, began taking credit cards, cleaned up the front area and overall appearance, and thus raised their prices closer to what nearby competitors charge. Still, some of the offerings were very nicely priced, while others were moderate, and some being pricey compared to what I've seen elsewhere.
Overall, a real treat of a store for beer lovers who live nearby. They clearly move a lot of craft beer (not to mention a lot of Corona, I noticed from other shoppers) and keep the freshness rolling -- for the most part. Very recommended if you're in the area!! Don't let the old, poor reviews sway your mind.

I have been going here for ages, in fact I remember coming to Applejack with my dad as a kid. So as I've expanded my taste in beer and away from just wine and gin, its been great to see Applejack's selection of beer grow also. Prices are usually comparable or even less than other stores in the area.
Over the past year they have brought in new and different beers, including specialty bombers and craft packs, to keep me going. I can always rely on beer specialist Cole to help me pick out something new and exciting. He knows his stuff about, not only the breweries but also the beer types (which is often more helpful and keeps me from getting into a brewery rut!) There is definitely room to grow as a beer store, I wouldn't mind seeing a pick your own 6 pack, but Applejack remains my go to liquor store.

I have to agree with grasshopper. Applejack's is one of the better stores in the Denver area, although I prefer Argonaut's. It's been a several years since I have been there, but I remember them having a very good selection of local micros and a friendly staff. Applejack's has a great wine selection to boot (which my wife loved).
Unlike Argonaut's, Applejack's is in a nice part of town and parking is much easier. If you live on the westside of Denver or its suburbs, Applejack's is a fine store with a solid selection. In fact, I still have my Applejack's bottle opener on my key chain to remember it by. Cheers!

Biggest liquor store in North America. Need I say more? Consistently cheaper than any other liquor store. Good selection of beer, wine, liquors, and all of the extras. They don't take credit cards, however, so bring cash or an ATM card. If you're heading up into the mountains, stock up here.
This place has everything...including a wide selection of import beers. Lots of great German beers to choose from. Best prices on Paulaner and Hacker that I have ever seen. Great discounts on the more expensive Scotch and Tequila brands. Well worth a visit. The sheer size of the place is impressive.
