Appearance: Light hazy yellow....beer glows a bit when held up to the light. When I first poured it I saw a bit of a Mountain-Dew yellow. Decent white head upon pouring that slowly died back to a persistent thin white foam across the top. Nice thick sheets of lacing.

Smell: Some malt and grain and a bit of lemon citrus. As the beer warms up you can finally smell the hops in full depth - and the lemon is still there as are the noble hops.

Taste: Crisp with quick transition into bitter hop finish. Hop finish is lemon, with some noble hops thrown in at the end as well with some malt underneath, but just barely. A beer definitely on the bitter side of things, but it's not excessively bitter.

Mouthfeel: Nice carbonation, good thickness underneath. Hops definitely sticking to the teeth with this one.

Overall / Drinkability: A very interesting take on this style of American beer, and definitely quite hoppy. I'm not sure if it is as drinkable as the brewer claims, but I could see this beer pairing with a lot of American dishes as well, and I find it enjoyable enough that I wouldn't mind having another one another time....but not in one sitting. It's too hoppy and not light and refreshing enough. A good beer, but not a highly drinkable pilsener as described on the can.

Served on tap in a 10 oz chalice glass

Appearance – Served a lighter clear golden color with a small white head. The head faded relatively fast to leave only a light amount of lacing.

Smell – Overall it was quite light. The aroma was of a bready nature with hints of a herbal nature as well as some citrus hop.

Taste – The taste begins with a bready taste mixed with some lemon citrus hop flavor. There is a lighter caramel sweetness up front that is soon lost more toward the middle of the taste as a herbal hop flavor greets the tongue. At the end, a grapefruit citrus hop takes over the herbal and blends with the bready flavors to leave a crisp and bitter flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is on the average to lighter side with a carbonation level that is slightly above average. Good for the style.

Overall - Rather flavorful for the lighter abv. but retaining a nice taste profile. Quite nice and easy drinking.

The color is pale yellow. Fluffy white head. It is a b it cloudy and has lots of carbonation. The smell and the taste are both sweet and bitter. The sweet in the smell is the citrus hops, lemon. The taste has only a small hop bite, it could use a bit more.Very light and easy to drink. This is a good conversion from macro beer.

A - Pours with one finger of white foam on top of a slightly hazy, straw colored body. The head settles slowly and leaves nice lace on the glass.

S - A somewhat sour, grainy malt aroma with some herbal hops in the background.

T - Light, husky malt up front with a bit of malt. Any malt depth is lost behind dry, grainy character in the middle and a finish of herbal hops and a fairly strong bitterness.

M - Medium body, moderate carbonation, and a dry finish.

D - This isn't doing much for me. I'm all for craft lagers, but American "pilsner" as a craft beer style just doesn't make sense to me. Pre-prohibition style or not, it's bland and kind of harsh and in the end it just isn't a very good beer.

A: single finger head with scattered lacing on a clear somewhat bright golden body.

S: pretty fruity with banana, some pineapple and lemon custard with barely and pale malts.

T: very clean, with sweet corn and also a little fruity up front but the sweetness is mild and its not sour or tart either, a very subdued sweetness. sharp grain notes, pale malts in the finish. the hops are mild providing a light bitter quality

M: light body and moderate to high carbonation

Overall: this one has a lot of nice flavors, they are just all understated which in turn really helps drinability.

A: Pours a crystal clear straw yellow with a foamy white head. Looks a lot like a macro, but has a better looking head and decent retention and lacing.

S: German hops right off the bat with some of that classic pilsner malt in the mix too. A bit of sweet cereal grains as well.

T: Decent hop bit up front. Different kind of hop profile, probably from the German Noble hops. Some sweet cereal grains take over with just a touch of lemon. Fairly clean, crisp finish. Very flavorful for being 4.7% and it has some complexity to it too.

M: Lighter body, average carbonation. Fairly smooth though.

O: A great pilsner. One of the better ones I've had in a long time. Great drinkability.

12oz can into a 668 tulip. Thanks to von schplieffen for tossing one of these my way to review.

A: Clear straw colored body under a finger of frothy white head. Ok retention, spotty lace. Not bad.

S: Veyr clean and primarily yeasty. Flinty minerality and some lemony citrus notes. Bready malt comes through as it warms. Quite nice.

T: Follows the nose precisely. Good balance of malt, hops, and lager yeast. Veyr crisp finish. Good stuff.

M: Light body with carbonation to match. A bit lifeless, but not terrible.

O: Solid Pils. I'd happily drink this if I couldn't get fresh Elm City; much preferred to Mama's Little Yella, fwiw.

12 ounce can, w/o freshness/bottling date info.

Pour is super light straw, slightly hazed, with some bubbles rising. The head is near white, loose and quickly departing. Leaves gauzy webs of lace and a fine bubble film

Light grassy notes and herbal hops on the nostrils.

Tasty and happy lager, with more herbal notes, along with some more grass notes. Quite dry in the mid section and in the finish.

Decent brew, worth a try, but don’t expect anything special. Hops and crispness add to the drinkability and the overall worthiness of this offering.

On tap at Avery’s tap room in Boulder, CO. Pours clear-golden with white, long lasting head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of pale malt and perfume hops. Body is light and very crisp. Herbal, perfume hops are balanced on the palate by biscuit malt. Finish is long and dry. Very nice Pilz.

Avery Joe’s Pilsner: It’s a crystal clear bright yellow beer with light carbonation topped with a pure white head. Faint on the aroma. The flavor is dry all the way through with notes of lime and grapefruit on the finish. A good pils. Avery keeps rising in my estimation. They brew a great whit and fine IPA. All of their bomber offerings are wonderful. This pils keeps with the tradition.

12 oz can was poured into a pilsner glass.

Appearance: The beer poured a puffy head that has reduced a little and still sits at the upper rim of the glass. It is a golden straw yellow with great clarity and signs of carbonation comign up throughout the glass. Nice lacing on the glass as the beer was drank too.

Smell: bready and sweet malts followed by a light hop aroma similar to lime and lemon.

Taste: lemon, lime, and grassy notes. Sweetness and bready malts in there too.

Mouthfeel: smooth, a little chewy, medium to light bodied, some watery feeling in there, medium carbonation, and easy to drink.

Overall: This is a sold APL beer from Avery. A nice alternative to my hoppy and high octane beer drinking. This was enjoyed very easily.

This can of pilsner poured a clear medium dark golden color with a fine cap of foam. The aroma is citrus, pepper and grass mixed with pale malt. The malt more than sneaks through on the palate with clean bread and biscuit. The herbal bitterness speaks to the noble hops. This is a clean, solid pilsner.

Pours a semi-clear straw yellow color with some bit particles floating about. Head shrinks to a thin lacing. Nice soft-like doughy grain aroma with subtle floral hop aroma. Tastes okay. Nice for a lager but nothing seems to pop. No flaws in this brew. Clean lager flavors. Nice & light. Decent beer.

A- Golden straw color. Dish-soapy, one finger head that sticks around nicely.

S- GRAINY, with a malty and slight spicy hop backbone.

T- It's a good lager! It's got what is typical of a adjunct lager: grains and malts, but it has a spicy, slight bitter finish.

M- Light-to- medium in feel. Lot heavier than normal lagers, but it's still an extremely easy drinking craft lager in a can!

*Overall, this is a lager that has a good taste. The taste that separates it from any American adjunct lager is the slight spicy and hoppy finish. It's real thurst quenching and refreshing. Solid flavors. Got a can in clearance for $0.99, but did pay around $8.99 for a 6-pack once. That's the beer's only other downfall (the first being it's similar in flavor profile to an adjunct lager).

Another in the continuous series of pale lagers that are quite appropriate to a hot summer. This one is thirst-quenching, at least.

A fair buzz of hops, but more on the earthy side, like a slightly diluted Amber Ale. A faint hint of lime and citrus peel, but the crackers come through strongly. I'd go so far as to say they are Stoned Wheat Thins. I don't care for the dirty aftertaste.

This is slightly above average for this cheesy category, but when it's so hot and dry, it has its virtues. From the 12 oz can bought at Grapevine in Denver.

A - Crisp, clean straw gold color. Wonderful, large, thick, creamy, meringue like, white head. Very nice retention leaving a nice ring of lace.

S - Bready, cracker, pale malt. Slight popcorn aroma. Nice floral/herbal hops producing almost a tea-like aroma.

T - Wonderful malt base. Buscuit, cracker, bready malt. A very nice hop burst mid sip to the finish. Floral, herbal, and slightly grassy. Similar to a floral white tea with honey.

M - Light body with above average carbonation. Crisp and clean throughout.

D - Very easy and enjoyable to drink. I could sit outside and put these down all day. Great malt body that is very flavorful and a nice bit of hops. Crisp, clean, and enjoyable.

Notes: Excellent Pale Lager. Malt flavor is spot on and just enough hops to keep me interested. Clean and quenches my thirst. Great beer for a style that is often not that good.

A: Poured from the can into a pilsner glass (after mowing the lawn on a beautiful late-Spring day - so I'm thirsty). Body is pale, pale straw-yellow - there's almost not color to this at all - with a good (2-finger) white, fluffy head. Leaves good amounts of lacing.

S: Mildly soapy with some florally hops.

T: Not a lot going on, taste-wise. Modest amount of grain husks up front, then florally hops at the finish. A slight bitterness lingers on the aftertaste.

M: Light in heft, carbonation is modest.

O: OK. Not worth $11.49 for a six-pack, that's for sure. But inoffensive and easily quaffed.

Can enjoyed at Star Bar in Denver. Slightly hazed straw gold with sticky, white foam that clings to the glass. Gobs of hops all around - resinous, herbal, peppery, with some bright lemon oil. Firm bitterness that doesn't overwhelm the lean malt body. Assertively hoppy beer that manages to remain in balance with this sub 5% ABV beer. This is exactly what I expected from an Avery-brewed lager.

What a lovely Pils. Not overly fancy or complex, nothing overwhelms you as unusual. But solidly made and well balanced from the pour to the last sip.

A nose like spring rain, there's a nice citrus presence with a slight hop bite. Dry and crisp, it finishes with a dark caramel malt flavor that sneaks up from behind.

A perfect beer for a hot day out in the sun or with BBQ. Definitely recommended!

S: Quite fragrant, heavy hops, citrus, flora, and tropical fruits, nicely complex for a "pilsner"

T: Extremely well balanced, excellent bitter and citrus, but light and drinkable at the same time, some herbal elements as well

M: Light in the mouth and very smooth, mild citrus rind aftertaste, but not drying or overpowering on the palate

O: One of the better pale lagers I've experienced, smooth with excellent flavor and fragrance, low ABV but strong in intensity

A) straight from the can so.... Clear, straw colored. Pours with a finger thick head that keeps it's retention.
S) Subtle hop aroma. Grainy. Slight fruitiness.
T) Nutty. Gritty grains. Mellow hop bite in the finish. Slightly astringent.

Freshness dating maybe once on the bottom of the can... I can only make out:

A= Pours a translucent yellow color with a small finger of pure white columbian head on it that falls somewhat quickly to a thin skin on the glass. A little lacing is present.

S= A nice amount of hops as opposed to what I normally think of when American Pilsner comes to mind. A little grassy and a little citrusy on the hops with a clean lager yeast. A slight amount of buiscuity aroma is in there.

T= The taste is again pretty impressive for an American Pilsner. A nice mild amount of hops let you know they are there without being overwhelming making it super drinkable. There is a little malt sweetness again very light and a clean lagery finish.

M= Well carbonated.

O= An impressive American Pilsner. I actually like this quite a bit. Super drinkable and yet complex enough to really be tasty. Check this one out and enjoy it on a summer day.

Poured into a standard pint glass. The beer is a hazy straw yellow with a fizzy white head that dissipates to a thin film. Some lacing sticks to the glass. The beer smells fresh and floral; lemongrass and slightly citrus hops. The beer tastes refreshing and clean. Lemongrass and floral notes dominate, but there is a clean, dry hop finish. The mouthfeel is light bodied and very easy to drink.

Overall, this is a very well-made pale lager, and it might be one of my favourite go-to summer beers. It's refreshing, clean, and very sessionable. Well done Avery.

Sixer of cans from Arctic Liquors in Steamboat, CO. Into a Baxter Brewing can shaped glass.

A: Crystal clear and gold in color with an enormous white cap of foam. Excellent head retention, with equally impressive lacing left behind.

S: Awesome floral hop note, some pilsner grain and a slightly sulfuric note from the yeast. Much hoppier than most American lagers.

T: Really nice here, strong resiny floral hop profile with ample bitterness. Nice grainy bite in there as well. Really flavorful for how light it is. I really like how hoppy this stuff is, great resins and bitterness with a great flavor as well.

M: Light body, perfect carbonation and nicely dry. Very refreshing.

O: A great beer, perfect for after working out in the yard and relaxing. Highly sessionable, and in general just a great lager. Well done.
