On tap at the Avery Tap Takeover at The Common Table.
The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a tan head. The aroma has a ton of coffee in it. The coffee is also the star of the show in the flavor, but it is accompanied by a little bit of roasted malt and a hint of chocolate. There is some sweetness to the flavor which compliments the coffee nicely. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

On tap at Avery. Pours near black. Loads of coffee. Some underlying dry roast. Really excellent coffee beer.

@ Woody's
Black with a slight, bubbly head and drippy lace. Smells primarily of coffee grounds, sweetener, and something like cold chocolate ice cream. More coffee in the flavor, dark roasted malt, bitter chocolate, and some wateriness. Medium bodied and dry with a bit of texture.
Simple, not complex, but not bad. I feel like the base stout isn't quite bold or rich enough to compete with the coffee.

Tried this one on tap at the Avery tap room in Boulder. Quite disappointing...
Dark brown and with translucent ruby hues. Looks more like a porter than a stout. Thin off white head leaves behind incredible lacing, though.
Smells of day old coffee with a hint of bitterness at the end. Some choocolate and licorice with a mild smokiness. More coffee porter than stout.
Tastes like it smells. Mostly old coffee, with a hint of chocolate and cherries.
Way too thin-bodied for a stout; drinks like an English Porter. Not an unpleasant MF, but for a stout...not creamy, no foaming in mouth, and way too light.
A mediocre beer that doesn't really fit into the stout category, and too "stale coffee" to constitute a good porter either.

This is a coffee stout, a variation on Out of Bounds.
Sampled at the brewery on 9/24/11.
Listed on the menu as a "house blend - cold coffee toddy added."
A - Black with a short sticky mocha head. Appears a bit thin, but leaves excellent lace.
S - Rich roasty coffee grounds, almost burnt. Slight ashiness going on here as well.
T - Strong coffee roast and bitterness to the flavor. The base stout lends a very dry character. Big char character.
M - Leaves somewhat of a mineral aftertaste. Dry with lingering bitterness.
O - Nice one, but too roasty for me, it came off as too harsh to fully blend with the coffee addition.

From 12/1/11 notes. Had on tap at Churchkey at their Avery tap takeover event. Served in a becher glass.
a - Pours a dark mahogany brown color with one inch of tan head and light carbonation evident.
s - Smells of coffee, vanilla, bitter chocolate, and roasted malts. Coffee and vanilla mix nicely up front.
t - Tastes of coffee, sweet chocolate, bitter chocolate, vanilla, cream, and roasted malts. More coffee than the nose, but also more chocolate which I liked.
m - Light to medium body and low carbonation. Pretty smooth body and a tiny bit think for a stout. Kind of reminded me of a light Irish Dry Stout.
o - Overall a really good, easy to drink stout from Avery. Nice coffee and vanilla coming out in the nose and coffee and chocolate in the taste, would certainly like to have it again.
