Sampled from a 12 oz bottle.

Poured a dark black that is reddish brown when put up to the light. A fair light tan head formed with the pour that fades to a light covering. The brew leaves a line and spotty lacing around the glass.

Aromas of burnt malt, caramel, smoke, peat, and earth. A dry dusty earth presence to the nose. Very intriguing scents begging to be tasted.

Tastes of burnt malt, coffee, caramel, peat, and espresso. Wonderfully medium-full body very silky smooth until the finish. Finishes a bitter, unsweetened coffee that clings to the tongue.

Great beer. A little bitter on the finish for my taste, but a great beer.

Pours a lovely dark brown in the Pilsener glass. A fine-grained foam sits nicely on it. A rich, velvety mouthfeel with plenty of prickly carbonation. From the 12 oz bottle bought at Barons Marketplace in San Diego.

The flavor is a little winey to start. Dark roast malt with a fruity flavor and lots of burnt sugar. The typical notes of chocolate and coffee. A malty sweetness that is nicely balanced by the bitter aftertaste. Just enough hops without overwhelming the roasted flavors. Tangier than most Porters. The head is quite excellent, lasting to the bottom of the tall glass.
