Hands down, one of my top favorite double IPAs. Had this on tap from the Tap Room in PB. Massive grapefruit and citrus/ pine in the nose. Taste was quick follow with the most appropriately balanced bitterness I've ever experienced. Two thumbs up for this beer, I will be most definitely seeking it out in the near future.

A-Beautiful orange brown color with eggshell foam out of the bottle.
S-Powerful red berries and oat aroma.
T-Earthy and rye, subtle fruit on the end.
M-Smooth full body with a long finish.
0-Overall another really good one from Avery. Heavy, but with a good finish, nice blending of flavors and an excellent aroma.

a: a dark yellow with a one finger head. nice looking brew!
s : very malty for a dipa. I get a lot of biscuit. some grapefruit and pine. a bit of resin and sap. earthy. a good amount of citrus and lemon peel.
t: tastes similar to how It smells. a strong toffee malt bax
ckbone with a biscuit note. almost reminds me of a Belgian. nice citrus throughout. lemon and grapefruit interplay with earthy pine in a great way. while there is alot of hop flavor it defintely isn't a palate wrecker and the dry bitter finish stays on your tongue only fir a few moments.
m as stated it has a nice, quick dry bitter finish. no carbonation but it is not too heavy at all.
o this is a very good beer with high drinkability. it's well balanced and hits a ton of different tastebuds. I'll never turn this down. /88

Poured at cellar temperature from a bomber into a snifter. After decoding the date code on the bottle, I figured out that this beer is eight months old. Too old for an IPA, some may say. However, as I'm about to explain, this one has held up exceedingly well.
There is a sizeable two-finger head of delicate white foam. The liquid looks like unprocessed honey. It's got that golden amber hue and I can see lots of sediments floating in suspended animation throughout the beer. The appearance suggests that this beer obviously must have some serious substance to it!
The aroma is fairly simple, but nevertheless great. I'm tempted with the perfume of sweet citrus fruits, pine needles, and glorious hops. If you've smelled great imperial IPAs, then you know the scent.
The taste takes on the aspects of citrus and hops I detect in the smell, but there are other things here as well. Behind the tangy, delicious citric hop taste is some kind of exotic, zesty, spicy herbal character that transports me to IPA nirvana. There is a hot aftertaste that might be from the 8.5% ABV, but it FEELS like it's coming solely from the mysterious spiciness. A pleasant bitterness lingers long after each sip. The taste couldn't get much better than this.
It doesn't feel overly carbonated, which is perfect for letting the powerful and complex flavors shine through.
This is a fantastic double IPA. Thoroughly pleasurable to drink.
