From a 22 oz. bottle into a tulip.

A-The beer is a clear, orange-tinted amber color. There was a solid, two-finger head of white foam that left nice lacing on the glass.

S-I picked a hint of apple, some other sweet tropical fruit notes, a whiff of alcohol, and - as the beer warmed, especially - some clove spiciness. However, the smell did not really mesh well for me and there was a slight rotten smell that crept up...almost like cheese. Not a good funk.

T-Upfront I got light malts and sweetness with some of the aforementioned apple fruit and alcohol warmth. This beer isn't hot, but the alcohol isn't completely hidden, either. Not much in the way of bitter hop flavors, but there was a touch of spice (aside from the clove) that was hop-ish. Again, however, the flavors did not meld well and I picked up an off, cheesy flavor.

M-Pretty creamy for a pale ale-type beer with a substantial sweetness. The carbonation is moderate, but it is quite fine compared to other beers of the same style.

O-This beer is not bad by any means, (the slight off flavor I mentioned is very slight), but I just couldn't "get into it." Perhaps in a beer style such as this one, in which there are hundreds of great beers, Salvation just did not stack up.

Purchased for $7.99. Bottled on January 10, 2013. Poured into a small wine glass.

An excellent beer. Comparable to Duvel. Do the blind taste and report back.

A – Pours a slightly cloudy (-) golden color, dense white one-finger head, nice white lacing.

S – Spicy, lightly peppery, some pear.

T – Crisp, yeasty, dry, some bitterness.

MF – Light body, sharp mouth feel from good carbonation, with a slight smoothness/creaminess.

A: In my Firewheel tulip, it pours a rich, two-finger head above a clear golden hue. The color is really quite nice, and the lacing is thick and aggressive.

S: As the bottle suggests, I hint some cinnamon and apricot alongside some banana-yeast notes. There's some light citrus here, too--lemon, perhaps?

T: Up front, the flavor's a bit bland, especially in relation to the nose. However, it follows through with candied bananas and some spice--it's subtle, but there may be some all-spice there.

M: It's slightly heavy-bodied, but really this is deceptively light in mouthfeel.

O: This is pretty solid, and for $8, this is a decent buy. I'll get it again for buddies who are entering the Belgian realm.
