Salvation pours a copper color, nearly crystal-clear, with quickly receeding foam. Smell is phenolic, also a hint of malt. Bubbles manage to ring the glass, but carbonation is not very apparent. Definitely not as lively as many Belgian pale ales.
Taste is sweet candy sugar and malt/barley. It's thick and syrupy in the mouth, almost whiskeyish. Alcohol is present, on the verge of overshadowing the downplayed malt & barley flavors. Bottle claims to have "authentic Belgian yeast" but none comes through in the flavor, or is visible in the bottle. Drinkabilty suffers due to the syrupy texture and alcohol presence.
Overall it's not a bad Belgian-style ale, but a bit too jacked up, like other "extreme" American craft brews.

Purchased for $7.99. Bottled on January 10, 2013. Poured into a small wine glass.
An excellent beer. Comparable to Duvel. Do the blind taste and report back.
A – Pours a slightly cloudy (-) golden color, dense white one-finger head, nice white lacing.
S – Spicy, lightly peppery, some pear.
T – Crisp, yeasty, dry, some bitterness.
MF – Light body, sharp mouth feel from good carbonation, with a slight smoothness/creaminess.
